Letter to teachers/schools

I know in the past on these boards I've read a great letter notifying teachers/schools about taking kids out of school for a Disney trip. Does anyone still have a copy available, or where I could find one??
Any help appreciated.

I think that's great and all of it is 100% true.

Sadly, if I gave that to my step-son's principal she'd flat out refuse.

Your teacher and principal know what disney world is and offers. Either you school allows family vacations or it does not. Writing a bogus letter about all your child will learn does not change the situation at all. The school that has not allowed this in the past is not going to suddenly say "sure your kid can go because you opened my eyes so much". I personally would find these sample letters to be BS if someone gave one to me. I am not saying that there is not truth to the educational value but that is not why you are going. If you school allows family vacations (ours does) just write a letter saying he/she will be out x days or x week for a family vacation. If your school does not allow them - then don't go.

Please don't assume you know the reasons why I am doing what I am doing. Didn't ask for anyone's opinion on the letters, just where to find them.

Personally I loved the letter. I'll be taking my 1st grader out of school in November (week before thnaksgiving) aqnd I think, at least for his age, that the letter doesn't sound cheesy.

In any event, I can't imagine that it would hurt. You can either be honest about where you're going to loie and say it's a family emergency and hope that the teacher/school doesn't find out any differently.

Thanks for the letter...

With the world the way it is today, don't fret on what your school is going to think! Have a WONDERFUL time together!!!! No one is promised tomorrow!

Sorry, but I don't understand why people love this letter so much.
I find it awful! Besides I am sure teachers get this same letter all the time and roll their eyes. I would simply be honest and cater the letter to your child. For example. "please prepare some homework for our son/daughter that you feel they would benefit from. We are planning a trip to Disney which could not be scheduled over the summer...etc.
We are taking my son of of school for 7 days and I am just being honest about the vacation. The school had no problem with it. Did I say that I cannot stand this letter???
