Letter from Kindergarten parent:

That's as bad as telling a parent to ask their child not to talk about a Disney trip to their classmates because it might upset other children who haven't or can't go:sad2: Someone suggested this to me before we took ours the first time. Fortunately the pre-school where DS5 went was a bit uppity and most of the children had already went several times (and most went at some point that year) and DS7 had a great teacher who encouraged him to share his excitement. Some people!

I teach preschool also and it never ceases to amaze me what parents think we are obligated to do for their children. I once had a mother ask me to wipe her son's behind after he took a poop.:scared1: I almost lost it! I told her I'd call her when he did and she could come to the school and clean his butt! Of course she was ticked, but who cares?! Nowhere in my job description does it say "Butt Wiper"!

I could have written this post!

I'm amazed by the number of KINDERGARTEN students I've had over the years who can't wipe their bottoms. The mothers, NEVER the fathers, expect me to do it. Sorry, but it ain't gonna happen.:sad2:

Another funny (different parent) - - One of my little girls was taking a different bus home to play with a friend. Her mother called and left me this voicemail: Will you please make sure that Anna calls me when she gets to Lucy's house? Thanks!

How can I do that? I won't be there!!!:confused3
Enough already! Step AWAY from the Dis, and start writing the darned book! :teeth:

I could not deal with what you teachers do - but thank you for continuing to do it!!!

I'm sure every elementary teacher ... past, present AND FUTURE ... would RUSH out to buy a copy of compilation of "the most ridiculous requests of parents". You just need a witty title. I bet we can get you a list to consider within the next 24-48 hours!

Congrats ... maybe you can fund a few more trips to WDW w/ your royalties. Just DON'T tell any of your students your are going!

Meanwhile, I gotta get busy writing e-mails to my third-grader's & kindergartener's teachers. I am seriously behind in pushing my own agenda. Shoot ... should have started earlier ... at least 2 kids in both classes have arleady been to Disney this year. Oh ... and the horror ..... ONE of the third-graders TALKED about her trip. Now my DD has asked me to look into SciFi Diner. She has also decided she's brave enough to ride RockNRoller Coaster since the other kid did. The nerve ... now our trip has to be changed ... just because some other inconsiderate thirdgrader couldn't keep her mouth shut!

I tell ya ... some parents just don't consider the impact on other children.

Of course, those are probably the same parents who would never consider helping out w/ a room party ... leaving it to 2 or 3 room parents who do everything since we're not nearly as selb-absorbed ... oops, I meas as BUSY ... as other parents. I'm sure every other parent in class has a life busier than mine ... a job that takes 60-70 hours a week, plus a barn full of show horses and two kids w/ hobbies, classes & homework and sick/elderly parents. Not a problem ... parents like me will still do the room party ... and then brace ourselves for the nasty comment when those busier parents find out I let my kid go first in the party game.

Which reminds me ... I shouldn't be catching up here... I got a Fun Fair to pull together before next Friday since no other parent at the school would step up to be co-chair.

HATS OFF to you teachers .... you all ROCK!

Now ... get busy writing that book!

I work in a preschool class and a few weeks ago a mom called on a Monday morning before her son arrived on the bus.

She said, "Would you please make sure Danny eats his crackers at snack time today? He's had diarrhea for the past two days and I'm hoping the crackers will help it go away."

I'm thinking, "Are you kidding me?" She reluctantly put him in the car and took him home. That day he got a fever and spent the rest of the week at home. :sad2:

I teach pre-K in a public school. Last week I had a parent carry a child into the school and sit her in line to wait to go to the class and quickly leave. The paraprofessional who monitors the children noticed that her face was red and she was shivering and called me. One touch told me she was very sick--so I carried her to the nurse (she couldn't walk) temp of 103.6! When the nurse asked the parent why she brought her to school, the parent said, "But she wanted to go to school today." The nurse asked her who had the car keys!

Now I have bronchitis and missed Thursday and Friday--probably because of that child (even though I thoroughly wasked my hands....as I do many times a day.)

maybe it's because their dads don't wash the undies! :lmao:

Hmmm....hope the twins' teachers don't request a moratorium on disney talk, they might just learn to be quiet! :rotfl2:

Where does this woman sends her kids, so I don't send my kids to the same school.:rotfl2:
JK, but you know we all know someone like this and you have to feel sorry for the kids and hope noone treats Darling any differently b/c of her mom.
We all know someone like this, I have a SIL, and my poor neice. I do appreciate Minnie and great teachers.:cheer2:
I hate to sound silly, but hopefully Bruce wore something Disney everyday.:rotfl:

What I want to know is what state and/or city does this child go to school? Please, please, please don't let it be anywhere in VA where I teach... I can just imagine the day I post artwork in the room and hers is not up... those are the parents who drive me crazy! I'm not sure what happened to raising our children with common manners and decency(sp I know)... I have some of the rudest, self-centered students I've ever seen this year... it's really quite scary to think that in just a few short years they will be the primary workforce... they can't even complete a project on time or read an assignment off the board :confused3

I am currently a long term sub for a Pre-K teacher and she told me some horror stories about one of her mother's before she left. The woman's daughter had to be spoken to about something (I don't remember for sure but I think she was banging on the teacher's mailboxes while walking in the hall). Anyway she got upset and started crying and was told by the teacher that she need to settle down because it was snack time and she had to calm down so she could eat. Well the little girl never calmed down (she has quite the temper; she hits her mother when she picks her up from school and yells 'no' at her) so she ended up missing snack time. The mother called Children and Youth Services on the teacher for denying her daugter her nutritional requirements (10 pretzels). Oh by the way, she EXPECTS that someone will wipe her daughter's bum after she uses the bathroom because she isn't dealing with messy underwear!

She brought her to school the other day and said to me "She's sick today and I expect to be called if she gets worse. She WOULDN"T LET me keep her home."

I would have waited 10 minutes, felt the child's forehead, and called mom to pick her up.

Not only are these funny, but they are scary too! Seriously! I'm almost done with my teaching dgree!

That is just nuts! I love when my dd and her friends start telling each other about DW! They talk about all their fun times! IT just gets them excited for the next time too!

I am literally LOL at these parents. Lordy! How self righteous can one person be!
I would totally read a book about crazy parents, and I am not a teacher. I would read it just for the pure humor and disbelief!

As a teacher for 19 years....That letter made me laugh but it didn't surprise me.

I wonder if she worries that much about her child's homework....:scratchin
