Only 2 day till our first camping trip to the fort!! :cool1:

A few questions for those tent campers:

How do you organize you toiletries for the comfort station? How about your clothes, do you ziploc them? What are your favorite tricks that you have come to find out over the years? :worship:

Thanks
Rina

Our toiletries I keep in a reusable shopping bag with a couple extra bags in there and when the kids go to shower or change they grab a bag, throw their clothes in and their "stuff" and they head over to the CS. If I didn't give them a bag, they would come back with only half of what they went with. I have tried doing the travel sizes and everyone gets their own stuff, but I found it was easier doing full sizes one for the girls, one for the boys, etc.

Our clothes I pack in duffles or suitcases. I put pool/bath towels and sheets in laundry baskets, and I switch when we get there. The clean clothes get put in baskets in the tent so they are easily accessible and kids can see what they need (put them together in outfits with underwear folded in middle). Suitcases stay in car once they are unpacked. I pack extra trash bags for dirty clothes which are put in the bag and then in the suitcase/ duffle.
Hope you have a great trip!

Toiletry bag for the essentials(toothbrush, razor, shampoo etc), something like this Toiletry Bag and a backpack. There are usually hooks or a bench in most showers so it is easy enough to keep dry. Been doing it for years this way. I always get travel size or collect hotel shampoos and soaps and keep them in a drawer at home until I need them for camping.

Best Regards,
Norm

Toiletry bags for the boys are the ones like acenorm suggests. For the girls we use the cloth outside and plastic inside with handles (open top) found at Bed, Bath and Beyond. These are $9.99 but I always use a coupon. I usually see more of them around back to school-using them for college dorms.

We use the cloth grocery bags bought at Target/Walmart wherever. Each family member has a different color as to grab their bag faster. The only items that go to the showers are towel, clothes to change into and flip flops (I wear mine to the showers). The bags are light weight and if they get wet or start to smell-I throw them into the laundry after our trip. I found this system finally-a few years ago and so far it works very well for us.

I hope this helps-I can't wait to read more tips from others.:goodvibes

My boys each have a drawstring bag. I put a small shampoo and soap container in a small plastic bag in a larger zip loc bag. The larger bag has a washcloth and small towel. They can put their clothes in the drawstring bag, although this time they didn't want to put on pjs at the shower and just wore their clothes back to the tent. I also put a foldable toothbrush, small toothpaste and small paper cups in a plastic container. They wear Crocs / water sandals.

We buy the plastic handled two sided caddies and put all toiletries in those. That way we can just pick up and carry to CS... it's plastic so no matter if wet. Keeps everything visible and easy access. Each person has there own... we just grab and go.

For cloths... we found long ago that digging through travel bags was a night mare... we use clear bins. Easy to stack in the tent... each person's has a different color lid and cloths stay wrinkle free. One of the most important things... is the black bin... for dirty laundry. We keep the lid closed and store out side the tent.. easy to carry to washroom, rain protected and if we put cloths in as soon as they are dirty... there is less mess.

We also use bins for food. We camp a lot in the mountains of NC and black bears can be a problem. The bins can be stacked so there is less "taking up space", the good ones have great lids protecting food from rain, bugs... and bears.

Thank you so much for all your wonderful ideas. One more question about trash.
Do you all bring the big black trash bags? Do they pick up the trash or is there a dumpster to dump it?

Just getting all my duck in a row!! 1 day!!!! :cool1::cool1:

NO, not for trash anyways. They have covered trash cans every couple sites that are emptied quite often throughout the day. I bring a couple extra to put our dirty pillows and sheets in for the ride home.
Hope you have a fantastic time! I'm sure you will love it!

Great question and responses! We are doing our 1st extended MH camping trip in June. This was something I hadn't really thought about. There will be 8 of us in the MH so being organized and keeping clutter to a minimum will be very important!

Our neighbor campers had the hangers w/ clips on them to hang suits, etc. i thought it was a neat idea, DH said we don't need it, so I'll probably tuck a few in for our nesct trip. ;) Just wanted to share.

These are great responses!! I probably will have a few more tonight as I am packing and thinking of things.

Thank you so much!!
