Let's talk menopause!

When menopause starts do your periods come further apart? I'll be 43 on the 21st and my periods are still right on the mark. Of course, my mom had me at 39 and my younger brother at 41.

I remember I was 47 the when I started missing periods. I'm down to about 2 a year - can't wait til that's over!

For the first 2 years after I started having menopausal symptoms, my periods went from a 28-day cycle to a 21-day cycle. Then they gradually came further and further apart.

Oh yeah! I forgot about! Oh this marvelous magical experience -- there should be a menopause attraction by body wars -- it would be really scary!! :scared:

You do realize that they would have to make that experience for Women Only. Men would pass out and need to be carted out on stretchers!

What about cholesterol? Has anyone had an elevated cholesterol since menopause?
Mine went up 75 points! YIKES!!!

Am I the only one whose chol has gone up with this stage of life? :confused3

I, too, was 47 when I first skipped a period which was so alarming because mine came like clockwork. Then a couple of years later at 49 I went 3 months and thought I was done. Nope.

By 51, I went 6 months without a period but then had 5 in the summer!! That was not a fun summer!!

Finally this summer in August will make it a FULL year I have not had my periods which the doctor tells me I will officially be in menopause!! :woohoo:

My big question is.........when this happens, will I be pretty much done with all of these symptoms??? Please just answer yes to this question. Thank you!!:rotfl:

Wow...!!! I'm impressed!! I have always wondered what would happen if you got a thread full of menopausal women. Ladies you are all so well behaved!! I applaud you!! All kidding aside...I'm right here with you. I do have hot flashes but they are just a nuisance. I'm more emotional with the aches and pains. And lets not mention the forgetfulness. It's ashame that I just can't forget that I'm emotional and achy!!:lmao: Why doesn't life work that way?:confused3

YES!! :sad2: ...NOT!! :lmao:

I've been having night sweats/hot flashes for about 10 years now. Really? I wish they would just go away. I've opted not to go on medication. They're annoying but not life threatening.

I had a partial hysterectomy around the age of 38 or so.

A MUST SEE for all of us going through this special times. :rotfl:

Ooh, can I join in? I'm a breast cancer survivor (5 years this year!!). At first my onc. said the chemo put me into menopause (I was 42 when diagnosed and definitely not even peri-menopausal). I went 2.5 years w/o a period and then my ovaries "woke up" and I had the worst period EVER. Since I needed to be on Arimidex and you have to be menopausal to take it, I'm now getting Lupron shots to keep me in menopause. So the menopause symptoms are hitting me hard.

Sleepless nights, hot flashes aren't TOO bad, but when I do a little bit of exercise (like walking from the bus stop to work this morning in 55 degree weather) I sweat like crazy for the next hour. The dryness "down there" is also causing a bit of incontinence - nothing like having to wear Depends at the ripe old age of 48! What am I going to be like when I'm 68?:scared1: Loss of libido - poor DH, I keep telling him that it's not "him" - if Richard Gere would stop by, I'd just say hi and not even want to jump HIS bones!;) Forgetfullness, moodiness (not a good thing when you've got 2 teenagers at home).

Does anybody have any remedies for any of these symptoms that don't include hormones? Can't use hormones due to my breast cancer.

Oh you should see me at the gym. I was once sweating so bad I was dripping water on the treadmill! And I cannot sweating.

This is really disgusting isn't it? If any guys opened this thread up I bet they closed it up in a big hurry!!!:rotfl:

A friend of mine didn't have a period for almost 2 years and it came back again.

She was checked out and everything is fine, but it's definitely back.

Hot Flashes-open refidgerator door to cool off. Leave cell phone in said door.
Find phone after buying new one. (true)

Weight gain..at least now it might keep Cole(age 12) out of my closet. She's been getting her friend about 1-1/2 years now. At least Mr. Judi has not run out the door screaming.

Hair..Do I look Better in a Beard?:confused3

Moodiness..Honey calm down, it's ok..CALM DOWN..I'M NOT YELLING.

3 Years now..no set timing..I look good in black;) for I refuse to ride a paper pony daily..just in case.
Sometimes I scare me:scared1: Has anyone tried Estrovan? Mr. Judi will buy me a case.
Judi

We can talk about menopause all you'd like but I'll probably forget the entire conversation. I'll be too busy plucking chin hairs and fighting sleep deprivation

I posted earlier that my hot flashes are better due to a dosage increase in my HRT, but I also have to admit that I am freezing my husband out at night just to be comfortable enough to sleep. I turn the thermostat down to 65 degrees, turn on a fan on the dresser, turn on the ceiling fan, and have a box fan on the floor by my side of the bed just in case I wake up a little warm. It's crazy! I used to always FREEZE.:confused3
Mad Cow Disease is what I call my menopause....I cant remember anything....hmmm what were we talking about again:confused3
That is probably how my DH feels about me lately:rotfl2: I am 48 and have had the nightsweats, forgetfullness and Mad Cowness for years(can't remember how many)now. Finally missed my first period ever a couple of months ago so I am hoping the end is near for myself and those poor souls around me:scared:
