Let's talk mattresses!

Look into the Original Mattress Factory. They are one of the only (if not THE only) company still making double sided mattresses. In other words, they will literally last twice as long. Even Stearns & Foster has made the switch. Everything is done right there in the factory and you can customize however you want. Our queen set, that was top of the line (minus pillow top) was just over 600, which was about half of what I priced elsewhere.

Would you happen to have a link? This was the most disturbing thing about buying a mattress....when I found out they are all only "one sided". Talk about feeling used and taken!!

Nevermind = found it.....we would have to travel to PA!!

How do you try out a mattress at BJ's? They are always stacked up and wrapped in plastic at the BJ's near us. We did get a twin mattress there but it was for an extra bed for sleepovers so we weren't too concerned about it. It's actually a great mattress but I hesitate when it comes to one that would be used daily.

Well, DH and I actually pulled the thing down and lay on it in the aisle, (covered in plastic of course)! I had him do his pole vault maneuver when he launches himself in the air just to roll over (which wakes me up every time) and I didn't feel it on the mattress, so we bought one.:thumbsup2

Had to order the King size, though-- took about 3 weeks. I was nervous, too, but several employees told me they had had theirs for a while and loved them.
I love it!

My dh and I recently purchased this mattress and LOVE it! :cloud9: It is by far the comfiest mattress we have ever slept on. We did buy it in a store that allowed us to return in 30 days if we were not happy. We are very happy. It used to take me a long time to fall asleep, and now I'm asleep very quickly.

This is the 3rd mattress we have bought in 10 years of marriage. I wish we sould have bought this one to begin with!

Have you checked Overstock.com? They seem to have some decent prices and some memory foam ones too. I was on the edge of buying one of the memory foam mattresses when I saw the 2" toppers w/pillows for a great price ($70). I bought that and have been sleeping good ever since. I figured that will buy me a couple more years before I have to spend the big bucks for a new mattress. :goodvibes

I'll tell you that the TempePedic is worth the money!!!! I know that it's expensive but I no longer get up with backaches and don't wake up with my husband tossing and turning. I've been able to sleep all night since we got it this past Christmas and even my DDs (ages 8 & 10) love it, they want one when they get their mattress is warn which is very soon for my eldest. The only thing that they don't like is that you can't bounce as high as theirs :rotfl:

We've had about 3 mattresses since we got married 12 years ago and we have spent about as much on all of them as the TempuPedic cost-and I'm sure that we won't be replacing it anytime in the future. There are several price ranges.

Good luck in your decision.

If you can afford it, try a sleep number bed. I wasn't a believer until we got one. We were waking up daily with backaches. Since we got this mattress we have not had a problem. You can also adjust it if one day you need it firmer and another day you need it softer. Definitely worth it for us.

So how often do people buy new mattresses?
We have bought 2 in 15 years and I am ready for a new one!
