Let's talk lime green

Just curious, what do you say when you do see someone with lime green ribbons and Mickeys, etc? I'll be there next weekend, but I haven't decided yet how I'm going to wear my lime green. I was thinking about ribbons for my hair and maybe laminating a Mickey from Home Depot and somehow turning it into a pin.

I try to attach ribbons to the front and back of me. Since a lot of time is spent standing in que lines, you actually see the backs of people more than the front. The last time someone approached me was in line at Buzz...the family behind me were DISers too and noticed the ribbons on the back of my waist pouch. . BTW...do you say Dis or Diz? I say Dis.

LOL! I actually have a little bit of anxiety about that. I say, "dis," because it was, originally, "Disney Information Station," but I actually posted this question on the CB one time, and a lot of people responded that they say "diz." Maybe we should consult Webmaster Pete (or maybe I should be a tad less obsessive? )

I am so glad that this thread was posted . I did not know about anything about lime green and now I will be prepared when we go in Sept.

My husband makes T-shirts and I think I will have him make me some that will have a lime green mouse on it and have it say "Do the Boards!!".

So if anyone sees me in Sept w/ DH and 2 DD's (one 6 and one 13months) please stop and say hi. I would love to meet you.

I have a button that I wear that Towncrier was nice enough to make for me!! But they sell them in the DIS shop, along with Dis Tee Shirts, lanyards, key chains and my fav Luggage tags!! You won't miss your luggage coming around!!

I got my lime green mickeys from HD. Actually, I had a choice of alien green or sonic green (or frogger green which was a little darker). I went with sonic green - thought that was closest to lime. Now, add name, laminate, attach ribbon and I'm all set!

By George, I think she's got it! We too, have the Sonic Boom Mickey's! How are you going to put your name on it? Just print it on, handwrite it, use a sticker or maybe use scrapbook alphabet stickers? I haven't thought that far ahead. Let us know what method you try!

We got our Mickey's at Home Depot & will be wearing them when we go. Haven't decided exactly how we'll fix them yet though.

Hey CC ~ Gee, I had originally thought of just writing it with a permanent marker! You can see I'm not an artsy craftsy person . This whole project is a stretch for me!! I'll have to think about it - not a whole lot of room on Mickey's head to add much.

By the way - why is sonic boom a shade of green? Why not a shade of red, yellow, blue, etc.? Just wondering

The sonic boom green is kind of in the Buzz Lightyear collection. If you notice Buzz had quite a bit of green on him.........P

DH and I plan on getting the lime green mouse heads from Home Depot. I would like to add our screen name, have it laminated and pin it to our backpack. How do you get them laminated? Do you have a machine at home? If not, where do you take it to have it done and how much is it? I think if we just use a hole punch and tie a string to it, it may get wet or damaged and fall off.

If I remember right you can get laminating paper at walmart, staples, etc. They are smaller sheets....4x6 maybe? I haven't done it, but I remember seeing the packaging. If you don't find it there, I am sure an office supply place can do it for you...although I would think that they would have it for personal use too.
BBmom...yes, those Mouse Ears are small! Imagine me trying to fit our entire screen name on there! Not sure yet how I'll do it! I was thinking of putting them on our luggage too!

For those of you going During May 14-22 look for edcrbnsoul on a Lime Green Mickey Head, I'll be pushing a stroller or trying to keep my kids from jumping off of something. If you hear some guy with a boston accent yelling "Connah(Connor) get off that, it will probably be me.

I'm staying at POFQ...maybe I'll hang some lime green ribbon from my balcony. See you all at the bus stops.

pjlla ~ thanks for the explanation. That makes sense. It's just been a while since we were in Toy Story mode. DS is 15!

JKanownik ~ I'm cheating on the laminating . DH said a secretary at work could laminate it. So I know nothing of the process. But I too thought that I heard that Staples or some of those stores will laminate.

CC ~ I chuckled when you said about putting your whole screen name on there . Must take you a long time to log in here! (or do you have it set on automatic?) Do you think the mickeys would be sturdy enough on luggage, even with laminating? Those airport guys can be pretty rough on suitcases!

Last May I wore my lime green eye-glasses-holder pin that I made, using the Home Depot Mickey head as a template (Sculpey clay -- such a wonderful invention!). I met 2 fellow DISers that trip.

I've had trouble finding ribbon, though, so I just placed an order on-line for several different widths of "neon green" grossgrain. I'm going to make another pin and incorporate the new ribbon, as well as do luggage ID streamers for our May trip.

Guess I'll check out the DIS store again, and see what's there...
