Let's talk buses!

We're planning a trip for September 2012 and planning to stay at one of the value resorts. My question is what are the buses really like this time of year at these resorts? Are any of the value resort buses better than the others? We are open the park up, return to hotel for a break, and then close the park down kind of people. Thanks for the input!

Hi! Pop century has their own bus, while the other resorts share one. I've stayed all all value resorts and it still seems that even the value resorts that share have buses that come quite often. Still, I prefer POP since they have their own :)

I can only report my experiences at Pop. Each time I have stayed there, the buses have come very requently, but it is a large resort with only one bus stop, so all buses are almost always filled to capacity with standing room only.

Stayed all levels of resorts, tried the buses.......won't ever do them again! Nights after parks close is horrible......just over that! Love my rental car!

:) Pop has a dedicated bus but the resort has 3,000 rooms. AllStars has 2,000 rooms each and sometimes share. They are all on a similar schedule. Sure the week some will be late, some on time, some just pulling away. It is what it is. You have to look at it as part of the trip--an experience--not necessarily the most efficient means to an end. DH and I go to Disney at least once a year. We have stayed at Values, one moderate and AKV--we only use Disney transportation while there. It is convienent, free and kinda fun seeing and meeting people. I get why some folks can't deal with it, though and that is OK too.

I mean if you drive your car to MK from All Stars or Pop--you go through the toll gate, park in the parking lot then take the tram to TTC, get on the boat or monorail and then get dropped of a tthe gate. The bus drops you at the gate straight away. I love to watch the buses pull in and out--it fasinates me about how Disney feeds all the peple it sees too. I mean the logistics of moving that many people on a daily basis with very little down time is impressive. So DH and I look at the bus ride as our first ride in the park. Maybe that seems stupid, but it works for us.

If you leave later in the morning and a bit before closing at night then the buses are nice. Wiat until the last hour to leave--join the rest of us in line. It is kinda interesting to look around and see how many ways a human can posistion themselves on a railing or chain while waiting on a bus.

We've had great bus service at all 3 of the All Stars. Two of those stays were during September. We didn't always share...the bus drivers didn't try to cram everyone from each stop. I think bus service is probably about the same at all the resorts...sometimes you'll have better bus service and sometimes worse..even if you only stay at the same place every time.

Our family stayed at Pop in September of 2009. We used the bus system most of the time except for when we planned on staying till park closing. We found out that at park closing they cram as many people as possible on the busses. While we understand that this is the best way to try to get everyone back to their resorts and know that the ride back will probably only be about 15 - 20 minutes, some other guests are extemely burnt out from a full day at the parks and can sometimes make for an ugly ride home. Since we make a seventeen hour drive to WDW we like to use their transportation as much as possible. However, if we are staying till park closing we will take our own car.
