Let's talk about thin walls

is fine on the second floor, but hubby who isn't picky like I am, won't stay there anymore because of all the explicit bathroom noises to which we were treated on our last stay there. We love the Wilderness Lodge for a quiet hotel. However we're DVC members now so we use the villas . . . also very quiet. Can't wait to try the Boardwalk Villas now especiallly since most seem to think it's so quiet.

SSR is the quietest resort we have stayed at Disney and we have stayed in all of them expect Pop Century.

In the deluxe category, the Grand Floridian was very good, unless you are near an elevator.

Yacht and Beach were good. The rest were just ok.

CR wing - the floors are hollow on the 2nd floor. It reverberated every hard step from people in the hallways. But it was all in how one walked, as I walk quietly and I'm 5' 11" 200 lbs while kids, including my DS would be pounding the floor.

The CR tower - very quiet
Poly - noise in the hallways was easily heard and the neighbor's shower in AM
BWI - I don't remember hearing anything
BWV - It almost seemed like we had the whole wing to ourselves (maybe we did)
VWL - Same erie all alone feeling. We barely saw anyone in the elevators.
SOG - Neighbor's tv and voices (it was a lockoff) and the neighbors were our friends with 3 kids.

There was one that I could hear the neighbor tinkle and flush but no voices or tv but I can't remember which resort it was. I just remembered that it cracked me up.

The only noise I've ever had a problem with, and I've stayed in most of the Disney resorts,is when people put the lock in front of the door so it doesn't shut all way.REALLY ANNOYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At All Stars we had kids running up and down the walkway in front of our door, which was noisy. You can also clearly hear noises from the next room. You just have to hope for quiet neighbors. We stayed on the top floor of POR and CSR and I can't recall hearing too much so guess we were lucky. Last week at POFQ was the noisiest, though. Even though we were on the first floor we didn't hear anything above us. It was the people NEXT to us, who whooped and hollered and stayed up very late ... and to make matters worse we had connecting doors. And those turbo toilets, we heard every one of their flushes, as I'm sure they did ours. It was marathon weekend so we also heard very loud music coming from Epcot around 5:00 a.m., as well as fireworks every time they had them.

Three stays at the AKL, never bothered by noise, and twice we were in rooms not so far off the main lobby. The only thing we heard at night was cricketts and an occasional low bray from the Ankole. It was very peaceful. In fact, other than the BWV, probably the quietest, and peaceful just seems to be the word to describe it.

Hmmm...My DH can't be here for my birthday this year, maybe I'll just treat myself to a night there ;)

Anne

Thanks Anne............. That's what I'm hoping for!!! Why don't you just come on over to AKL and celebrate your birthday with me............ DH is taking me my for mine............ I'll share.......... I'm so happy to be going to AKL, I'll even give you a zebra dome!!!! LOL

Thanks for the info!!

When we stayed at POFQ in May of last year are room was nice and quiet. We never even heard the neighbors. We did bring a sound machine with us in case we needed it but it never came to that.

We've stayed at the AKL four times. The one time we were in a regular savannah room, we heard everything that happened in the next bathroom. When we asked to be moved, they put us in a deluxe savannah room and we didn't hear a thing, except kids yelling in the hall. Maybe the walls are better insulated in the upper floors.

Just returned Sunday from a week long stay at POP. This resort more than any other gets complaints about noise from other rooms. The only noise we ever heard from the adjoining room was if the left their room, would hear the door shut, but that is expected. And yes, someone was in the room the entire week also. Never heard another toilet or shower or TV or anything else. We were very pleased with how quiet the room was. :earsboy:

I've stayed at 8 of the resorts from value to deluxe and the worst experiences I've had were the noise from people in the halls at AKL until very late into the night and various things at POP. I was at POP in September and I could hear many turbo toilet flushings along with "other" bathroom noises and every word the people in the next room said. I've noticed a little noise from a neighboring room also at Riverside. That said, both the POP and Riverside rooms had connecting doors in the room so I'm sure that makes it worse than if you're in a room without one. :)

In all our stays at the Dolphin we never heard a single person in the hallways or neighboring rooms. :)

We've stayed at many WDW resorts, but I couldn't tell you about the noise.
I couldn't hear anything above my groaning about my sore feet and tired body. ;)

My worst stay was at POP one year, when they put me near the elevator section, nothing but running and screaming from kidsup and down the hall way, either at morning and afternoon and night time was the worst! NEVER stay in the end corridor near the elevators! Last stay in Dec. was great, 1st. floor middle of the 50's section no noise no problems. ;)

Best for noise was FW Cabins although DH was convinced that this certain bird always found us and sang all night over our cabin EVERY year. No people noise only natural ones. But we also had a really BIG brown hairy spider on the toilet paper one morning that gave me quite a scare :scared1: Apparently had I not seen it and it had bitten me it would not have been good at least that's what they told me when they took it away. so I suppose there are trade offs. We stayed briefly 1 nite at WL and could hear everything that was going on in a room somewhere thru the A/C ducts. We requested a move to FW.We found CBR & POR to be quiet except for the toilet flushing and shower taking. All Stars were the loudest peeing in the next room wasn't uncommon and the outside noise level seemed dependant on where your room was and the number of school/band/cheerleader/sport kids there were at that time. Usually though we are so beat at the end of the day whatever is going on in the next room doesn't phase us.

They should outlaw those door lock things, that can hold the door open. We had two families with kids above us at ASMo. They keept running back and forth all night long with the door slamming. Just when you thought you fell asleep. Bang.

WL and AKL were both quiet. Couldn't hear anything through the walls.

CR north wing: can hear fireworks (very loud) at night; halls very noisy late at night with kids running; morning noise from trucks backing up (loud beeping noise) near service area.

AKL has been the worst for us. Each time that we had problems with noise was when there was a connecting door between the rooms.

Cast Member told us that most folks place the pack and play crib by the connecting door as this is the best spot for it in the room.

The problem is that any little bump by the toddler with the pack and play sounds like a herd of elephants on our side of the connecting door.

I agree that if you are on the main drag floor at AKL that goes from lobby to other parts of the lodge can be quite noisy.
We don't mind this noise though.

The noise I don't care for is listening to my neighbor brush his teeth when he is near the connecting door.
I'm sure that the other room can say the same things about us.

That being said we turn the fan on, buy earplugs. Usually we're so worn out from the parks that falling asleep is not an issue.

The worst noise for us has been at Polynesian,Yacht Club and BWV.
The quietest has been Polynesian, Pop, POR, AKL and Dolphin.
You just never know!

and I don't recall noise every being a problem. I think there *may* have been one time where a family was getting back around 1130 and they were VERY LOUD but only to the exten that they got on the elevator to their floor (3rd floor at AKL is the main floor to the lobby, etc. and so many people take that floor to elevators).
