Crocs? Tevas? Other? What do YOU recommend? Why? :confused3 I'm so curiouis - I want to know! What do you think?

Crocs made me flinch when I first saw them. Actually left the store without even trying them on. Disers said I just *had* to try on a pair and I'd love 'em. Well, went back to the store and did force myself to try on one...yep, just one shoe. That was enough for me. They had a ribbed pattern inside the shoe that hurt the sole of my foot. Flung that baby off in a hurry and left the store again.

Last year I always wore Easy Spirit walking shoes which I still love....just like to be able to wear a shoe in the summer without socks. That's when I bought a sandal from Easy Spirit referred to as a "theme park sandal". That's one ugly shoe! Feels great though and my feet don't hurt or get tired. Went to purchase a new pair a couple of weeks ago and they're no longer available. Ended up with a pair of TEVAS called "Catalina Cork" that I like even better. :teeth: I like the fact that I put this shoe on and my feet felt supported and free at the same time. I've walked all over malls and EPCOT last week and never once thought of my feet. In my book, that's exactly what shoes should do! :thumbsup2

I always wear my hiking boots to WDW - never had a problem with blisters, soreness or excessive sweat that way.

I'd never wear sandals, especially during peak season - that's just asking for painful memories. My wife learned that lesson the hard way: Strollers and sandals do not mix!

Keen Newports. Learned about them on these boards, got a pair...LOVE 'EM!!! They worked out great at WDW. They are waterproof, too! Highly recommend!

FOR walking in WDW..I totally recommend REEBOK PRINCESS! They never need any break in time at all. They are very reasonably priced. They look nice. And I really like a tie-shoe when I am at WDW. I love CROCS. I own two pairs, but I cannot see wearing my Crocs all day at Disney. I need more support. I have bought a new pair of Princess' before every Disney trip and they are a sure bet for comfort!

For flip flops around the pool, I have the Cros Athens and REEFS. Both really comfy. :teeth:

Are these the shoes you are talking about?

I have seen these a couple places and think they look so comfortable for walking in the summer. I love my CROCS and would were them again at WDW, but I really would like to have a pair of shoes that I don't have to wear socks with but can take a nice long walk (for cardio) in.

I also saw a pair similar to these at Rack Room shoes, by Sketchers, but they were not wide enough for me. How wide do the Keens run?

Yes!! Those are the ones I am talking about. I actually have the canvas ones, I think they are called H2s...I wanted the canvas, so I can get them wet. I think they would be great for wide feet. I have narrow feet and when I put them on at first, it was like my feet were swimming in them. The toe is very wide, plus you can adjust the straps to make them wider or narrower. I will say that they took a break in period (a couple days)...I don't think they are like Crocs (which I don't have) where you can put them on and instantly they feel great. I mean they are very comfortable, but the canvas needs to be broke in a little.

DH and I walk in the summer A LOT and these are the only shoes that we wear now. I wore mine pretty much the whole time at WDW and never got a blister or sore feet.

I got mine at the Walking Company, I think they were around $90.00, so they aren't cheap, but to me they are well worth the money. :sunny:

I'm a Birkenstock fan. I buy the newer ones that are now made with a man made upper instead of leather. You do not have to break them in. Yes the prices may seem steep, but I've had Birks last up to 10 years. I've converted my hubby too.

We both have permanent foot problems and these are the only shoes that we can wear for long periods of time.

When I was 18 I bought my first pair and wore them every summer for 6 years. They probally had about 300,000 miles on them (Literally).

Now for Sneakers, I like easy spirit. They don't pinch my toes and are made for people with foot problems.

My mom also likes them and she's had bunion surgery twice. She won't buy anything else.

As for crocs...well I wasn't impressed.

I also like Bjorn shoes, but hard to find.

Thanks for this. I wear my Birks days and nights, lol. I had often wonder if I would have liked the Crocs. I tried them on but it seems that I'm in between sizes and just not 100% confident that they would be more comfortable than my Birks.

Btw, Tevas give me blisters!

What does anyone do for the waterpark?

Thanks.

I actually like my CROCs and will be taking them with me again in September. I wore my Sketchers (tennis shoes) last year only one day and my feet really hurt at the end of the day. Started wearing my Crocs and never had any more problems the rest of the week. :thumbsup2 My only problem with the Crocs is they are not supportive enough for taking long walks. They are great for standing (which you do a lot of at Disney) and moderate walking, but not long power walks.

I think I have talked myself into a new pair of Keens. But now I have to decide between the H2 or the Venice and what color. :p

My favortie shoes for WDW are my Teva Mush flip flops. The Teva Pretty Rugged leather sandals are also comfortable. My mom loves her Croc Beach model, whereas I prefer the Croc Aspens. We've both worn the Croc Niles down there and both got blisters from them.

I'm thinking about getting a pair of the Croc flip flops (Athens?), but have read that the toe thingy is very hard. The toe thingy on the Teva Mush flip flops is very soft and so far they are the only flip flops I've ever been able to comfortably wear for any length of time.

I LOVE my Teva Pretty Rugged leather sandals. No more blisters and no more sweaty feet!

Solomon water shoes.

They can be worn as a mule or reg shoe (heal flips down) .Lightweight, arch support ,and well water shoes great for the parks.

New Balance leather tennys works well for me. I bought a pair of Crocs thinkin I'd use them at disney NO WAY possibly if I was goin in winter when I could wear socks with them but not during the hot months. Feet sweat in the crocs ever so slightly and then feet start rubbin on crocs OUCHY

My New Balance seems to be the best for me that I can afford. I use deodorant on my feet to help prevent blisters and also for the toes where I tend to get corns if I do lots and lots of walkin and standing I use toe sheild thingys that slip over my toes like a sleeve not the pads but cover the entire toe. They nice couchy things made from silicone gel and do wonders.

I always wear Birkenstocks. I have tried Tevas and Crocs but my feet sweat too much. If you have never worn Birkenstocks before you will need some time to break them in. I have so many pairs of Birks that I have lost count. I usually grab a new pair at the Birk Outlet while I'm in Orlando(it's in the same building as the Character Warehouse at the former Belz outlets).

I jumped on the Teva bandwagon in 2001 and am greatful that I did. After the first day in Reeboks, I got some nasty blisters and had no choice but to wear the Tevas. They were great! I got the Teva Typhoon which has a different foot bed that many other models. Lots of arch support and I liked the khaki suede.

This year I bought the beach Crocs and will be taking both. The Crocs are comfy, but I haven't given them a real test yet.

I still cannot get on the Croc bandwagon yet as they are so ugly! During my last trip July 05' I wore flip flops from American Eagle. I have them in every color & wear them every day during the summer but didn't know how they would do in disney but it was wonderful! They are the most comfortable sandal I have ever owned. The straps are made of an elastic material that doesn't bother your feet. I'm going back in Dec. and these are definately coming with me! They re on the American Eagle website and they are the AE platform flip flop style # 0417-2001.

I think J Crew also carries very similar flip flops with the elastic straps. Good luck!

Tevas make a shoe very similar to Keens that are $60.00 rather than $90.00, They are called Dozers and come in red and grey - www.tevas.com (look under the hiking sandlals.

Last September I chose to buy a walking sneaker from Reebok. I purchased them about a month before our trip to break them in. They were awesome and my feet didn't bother me at all- it was my calves that were sore at the end of they day, lol. I will vote for a good walking shoe anyday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
