Let's Talk About Bengal BBQ

I hadn't tried Bengal BBQ until a recent trip this past December. I hadn't noticed it for the longest time, and then when I signed up here I saw so many good mentions that I had to give it a shot. I had the chicken skewer.

The sauce on their meat is really very good, and it was quite a tasty treat. But I'm struggling to see how this place is so popular when it feels like such a rip-off. The portion sizes are miniscule! I am a lightweight when it comes to food, it doesn't take much at all for me to feel full, but I would have to order at least five of these things to feel somewhat satisfied. One by itself is not too expensive, but added together it would be a lot. I see people mention that they eat meals here - how?!

I really do like the food a lot, and typically I feel that Disney food is not such a bad value compared to other theme parks. But in this case I was very disappointed.

We love it and make a point of having it at least once per trip. But I do agree the prices are crazy for what you get.

Although I think I would like it I've never bothered trying it because I have seen the prices and what you get for it. Way overpriced.

I waited in a sloooooow moving line once for about ten minutes and had to back out due to impatience. Plus I saw the portions in relation to the prices and I must have been feeling cheap. After that I forgot all about it on our other trips, but maybe I'll try it next time. Maybe a few chicken skewers with a cart-sourced corn on the cob? Mango slices? Yum, sounds like inspiration for a spring BBQ! I have already been browsing Disneyland menus too much, I suspect, because right now on my grocery list are watermelon and lime sorbet to recreate that tempting sounding hot weather treat from the Carthay Circle lounge...

I loooove Bengal BBQ, but yes it's expensive.

We get 3 meat skewers, a Tiger tail, Mickey pretzel and a large softdrink to share between two of us and it works out at about just over $25.

It's a good light meal for when we have a huge TS meal planned.

We never try to do a meal from there. We look at it as more of a snack to tide us over when we have an early dinner reservation or for a late night protein boost. My DH and I usually have 2 each and it seems to be about right. I agree it's expense but then again everything seems so in DL so I try not to let it get to me too much.

I usually get a meat skewer and a veggie skewer and then maybe a Tiger Tale. The meat portions have become smaller over the years but the veggie skewer is still good sized.

I agree. I LOVE the chicken skewers, but they're expensive. We'd never eat their as a meal!!

We eat it as a snack generally too. The little boost of protein after the other sugary stuff helps a lot.

On the flip side, one of the best meal values I have found is the BBQ chicken and coleslaw baked potato at Harbour Galley. I wasn't even able to finish mine, the boyfriend got the remainder. It was tasty, filling, and only about $6.

I've only ever had it as a snack and that was a long time ago. The prices are crazy for what you get, even if the food is good. I plan on trying Harbour Galley on my next trip. Crazy that in 27 or so years of visits, I have never once been there. Can't wait since all I hear are rave reviews about portion size and quality for price.

It's a fine meal for my dd and I... When hubby is with us it is too expensive lol. But she and I get 2 meat and 1 veggie skewer and a tiger tale and water... Perfect for us especially if we had a later lunch. I like them because it seems so much better than a hamburger or hotdog. But still pretty quick.

We had it on our first visit, I remember it being nice even though a little pricey, but the biggest nuisance was finding somewhere to sit.

I've been wanting to try this place for a snack, but the line always seems too long and slow-moving when we've been in the area, tbh.

I am in the same boat. Looks and sounds good but I havent been able to get over the prices for such a small amount of food. It's expensive even by DL standards.

Ditto!! Found ourselves in the exact place trying to do light dinner one night & having to go back & buy more skewers even for the light eaters & it was a people crush trying to eat in Adventureland late at night. Not our cup of tea.

When we first started going to DL on a regular basis back in 2006, we liked Bengal BBQ. At that time the meat skewers were larger and for the price you paid it was reasonable. Now to us the only things worth getting are the veggie skewers and the fruit cup ( which isn't a cup). We get those sometimes as a snack. I agree though that finding a place to eat there is terrible. You can always walk around back and sit by the Stage Door Cafe looking out at the River of America.

DH, DS and I really like eating there. DS and I share 1 chicken, 1 beef and 1 asparagus and DH usually gets 2 meat and that is enough for us but none of us eat huge meals.

My one big complaint is how busy it is and how hard it can be to get seats sometimes.

I normally will go to sit down to nosh upon my skewers at the enchanted tiki room's lanai. Aladdin's Oasis is a very good place to dine upon your Bengal bbq too.
