Yesterday AM at breakfast I was telling DH about a lady at the track where I run sometimes who was walking her dogs - signs all over saying "NO PETS" and I was telling him how people just drive me crazy and how people are getting worse, yada yada yada....

And then the strangest thing happened -- as the rest of the day unfolded, I started noticing people doing little, perhaps unnoticable to the naked eye, really nice things!!! :) All day long!

I was carrying a tray of coffees out of McDonald's and a young man leapt out of his chair from the other side of the room to get the door for me - and he offered to carry it to my car.

About a half dozen people stopped me to just say how much they loved my purse (it's red like Dorothy's shoes) - one lady told me I "made her day" - that always makes me happy when people notice stuff like that.

Our plow guy finally sent us the bill for the winter and told us he "lost track" after 15 plows and to "have a great summer" (we had many more plows than 15 and he is not the type to "lose track" !!!!)

A neighbor I hardly know stopped by with a clipping from the paper I don't get with an article that mentioned DD.

At my Weight Watchers meeting last night (I've lost 6 pounds so far, btw) I watched women being so kind and supportive to each other I seriously almost cried.

So how about it? Any of the rest of you thinking we might not be going there in a handbasket - just yet, anyway?

Any of the rest of you notice people being really nice? :)

Oh, I thought this was going to be a tread to bash the United Nations :)

Anyway, I'll just say that the snow from last night looks pretty, isn't deep enough to require shoveling, and will be melted off in a week.

For 1 1/2 weeks after dh came home from the hospital, my friends and neighbors took turns bringing food over. We had a surpise food delivery last night. Mmm Mmm good.

I'm out of the loop - hope it was nothing serious with your DH!

I'm going to have to make a bigger effort to do that for people - bring them food - when stuff like that happens.

March 8th my dh had a kidney transplant. There were some rough times but I think the drs. have it worked out.

I think everyday we each get a choice on how to live our life. We can be negative or we can be positive. We can choose to be unhappy and view that the world and the people in are out to get us, or we can choose to be happy and see the niceties and kindness of others and be awed by the beauty that’s all around us in the simplest things. It’s amazing how one’s viewpoint and choice on how to see life steers their course in this world.

Your insights are refreshing. I think you’ve made the right choice and I’m right there with you.

Here’s wishing each of us an amazing day!

Oh poor thing! I just love modern medicine though - when people tell me they'd rather live in "the good old days" - I say, "not me! I'd rather live now when we can cure things and understand disease better."

I'd so glad to hear he's doing better!

I really like your thread and I hate to see it slip away because I like the way you think. I just can't think of any examples right now.

I know all the times I see venting on this board, I always think that once in a while we should give people the benefit of the doubt sometimes. Even smoking in the parks, for example...I have reasons to believe that there could well be plenty of people who do not know it's against the rules.

I think what you took the time to notice the other day is that for all of the pain in the butt stuff that takes place, there is far more good in the world, if we would just take the time to notice, as you did.

I wish I could take credit for a really great attitude - but these things just kind of stood out on their own. I started thinking about it, and really, when the bad things happen, I let them make me way too upset, and when the good things happen, I don't give them enough credit - because really, there are far more of them!

Today the kids have a two hour delay. I told my boss they were in the office with me, and he was happy they were here, and sorry that he was going to miss seeing them because of a meeting. :thumbsup2 He also said I could take tomorrow off.

My kids are here making Easter eggs to give to everyone in the office. :goodvibes

Even though we got 6 inches of snow last night, it really is beautiful clinging to the trees. A winter wonderland in April! :santa:

I slept REALLY well last night, and woke up feeling very rested. :cloud9:

We just came back from a cruise on Sunday. At debarkation, you have to get off the ship, go into a big room piled high with luggage, find yours, and then somehow manage to get it to your car. Last year, we had a heck of a time getting the luggage to the curb and then I had to wrangle the kids while DH went and got the car and brought it around to the luggage.

This year, we were lucky to find a very helpful porter right as we got to the luggage area. He helped DH find the luggage, loaded it on the cart, and then happily carted it all of the way to our car (which took quite a while). It really made things so much easier and made my day. (I slipped him a nice tip for his help.)

With all the venting we all do about the medical profession, there are some WONDERFUL caring doctors, nurses, etc. out there also. When my mom had an aortic dissection her surgeon was amazing...in fact her regular cardiologist said most surgeons wouldn't have even taken on such an incredibly risky patient...how scary is that? When she had complication after complication he's give her pep talks and tell her "I worked too hard for you to give up now!". She did pass away 8 months later, but I sent him a card thanking him for the time he gave us with her.

I haven't noticed anything specifically today, but thanks for the reminder to look :)

I did accomplish at leat one "act of random kindness" today. During the morning rush, I let everyone with their turn signal on over in my lane. They probably didn't notice, but it made me feel better.

My mom is having a rough time of it currently, and I've been wishing I could give her a hug, though we live in different states. Yesterday, Frontier Airlines published their Weekend Web Fares and there was a cheap flight listed for the weekend. I called my husband, and he told me to get it, he'd watch kiddo for the weekend. I get on a plane tomorrow and get back early Monday morning. This means hubby handles Easter with kiddo, along with dropping me off and picking me up at some inconvenient times, but he's willing to do that for me and my mom.

What a nice guy, huh??? He's done this before, too. Last Valentine's Day, even, he told me to get on a plane and visit with my mom and terminally-ill grandmother.

So glad you will be able to see your mom.

We just moved a few months ago to be back closer to DH's family and old friends.

Last weekend my best friend from high school came over with her DH and their kids, who got along with my two. I haven't laughed that much in some time.

Tomorrow night my DH's college aged neice, who is a huge sweetie, is going to babysit for us.

When my DD has her first communion this May there will be family members there, unlike whne my DS had his and it felt lonely.

We live nearer a bigger airport now with cheaper flights, so my sister is flying in to visit in two weeks.

:) :) :)

There, I am done un-venting.

Thanks for the chance, and I liked your "run ins" with good people. :)

I knew something was wrong! I noticed you were not posting. Good luck I will pray for your DH:thumbsup2

Well...I'm NOT bothered by whatever phrases others say, even if it's something that makes my skin crawl a little. Life is too short to worry about that sort of thing. :)

Yesterday afternoon I'd decided that if my son's baseball got cancelled that I'd suggest to my DH that the two of us go out to dinner (my DH is the coach). It wasn't cancelled, but when my DH got home after practice he asked me if I wanted to go to dinner, anyway. We went and had a great dinner, just the two of us.

Yesterday my kids did their chores around the house without complaining (they are on spring break)!

The weather is chilly for April, but the flowers and trees are blooming and it's really beautiful outside. AND it's not snowing. :teeth:
