Let's speculate wildly about future ride tiers at DHS!

So on this past trip (my first time at HS) planning was super-easy once we got our priorities sorted out. We didn't care much about TSMM or any of the shows, so we booked our 3 FPs for RnR, Star Tours, and ToT in the early morning, walked around a bit, saw the Muppets thing, and were on our way to Epcot in under three hours. Short and sweet. But then I started thinking about everything that's going to happen at DHS in the near future and I think our future plans are going to change dramatically!

For my next trip in May 2020 I'll be going after Toy Story Land, Galaxy's Edge, and (probably) the new Mickey and Minnie's Railroad rides are all open. Breaking it down, these lands will add the following new rides to the mix at DHS:

- M&M's runaway railroad
- Alien Swirling Saucers (WHY didn't they name it Swirling Alien Saucers? *facepalm*)
- Slinky Dog Dash
- Millennium Falcon ride (?)
- 2nd ride at GE (the one where you're in the middle of a battle?)

(am I missing one? I feel like I'm missing one.)

We've got confirmation that all the TS rides are moving to Tier 1 after the new land opens in June, similar to what happened with Pandora at AK, with other current Tier 1s dropping down to Tier 2. That's great news for me as I feel meh about Slinky Dog and looooved RnR.

But now I'm curious - how do you think the addition of the 2 Star Wars rides, plus the Mickey ride, will impact touring and FP+ selection in the future? Are we looking at 3 ride tiers? Everything new in tier 1? Maybe...NO tiers?! Is there precedent for adding this many attractions in this (relatively) short amount of time at WDW?

I think Tier 1 will be Star Wars attractions and MAYBE Slinky coaster
Tier 2 will be everything else.

Eventually, after yet another expansion, hopefully Disney will have enough draws in DHS to actually remove tiers. I'll count down the days! For now, just gonna have to plan to do two DHS days so I can ride both SW attractions.

I definitely agree that once GE opens that the Star Wars rides will both be Tier 1 and everything else will drop to Tier 2, including the two new Toy Story Land rides because they'll be a year in at that point and I don't see either of those rides having the long term affect on FP availability that FOP has. Even 7DMT, although one of the harder to get FPs is still very doable without having to book at 60 days out.

The one I'm not sure about is the Runaway Railroad. I would think it's newness alone would put it into Tier 1, but will there be enough attraction draw at DHS by then to remove tiering all together? That would be pretty awesome. But I think it's going to take some time before they take the Star Wars rides off of a Tier 1 together.

The GE FPs are going to be very difficult to get. My guess is they will continue the paid extra FP thing at 90 days for club level and the Star Wars hotel. I think they will also do the Early Morning Magic equivalent there. They will make money hand over fist with that and everyone else will suffer from lack of FP.

It will be so much worse than FoP. I am anxious to see how it goes before we return.

It's incredible to me that the park is going from 4 rides to 9 rides in a little over a year.

I think they will be changing the tiers with every new ride/land opening. Who knows what will happen though once everything is completed. It would be nice to get rid of the tiers. But for a while it will definitely be the GE rides.

Right? That's what got me thinking about all this. No new major changes seem to be planned for AK, MK, or even EP (for a while, anyway) in the near future, so people planning new trips there are working with mostly the same information. But everything people have been writing about DHS for years is going to need to be updated since that park is more than doubling the amount of rides it has, not to mention all the new shopping, dining, and show experiences that will be available. It'll be an interesting transition.

(BTW, I saw the thread has been moved to a different forum. My apologies for starting it in an incorrect place!)
