Let's speculate about Polynesian some more!

How likely do you think the Polynesian tower will be part of a new/old association?

when we can book the longhouses pretty regularly at 7 months with our resale points.
But if it ends up being same association will the longhouse studios still be available as much as they are now at 7 months?

I honestly don’t know. The favorite room type is always a studio so it probably will be harder to get as well. We don’t know how many people will opt for the studios in the tower either. We want them separate for different reasons but both are valid.

If you're talking about infrastructure like the signature Lava Pool, Monorail Stop, etc., my understanding is that those are owned by the hotel and that PVB pays for access to them. If it is a separate association, I assume that the Tower would also contract directly with the hotel, and there would be no need of an agreement between PVB1 and PVB2. (Not sure if PVB 'owns' the Oasis pool or not, in which case that may change, but it wouldn't really make a difference to us unless they decided to keep some pools exclusive.)

None of the pools are part of PVB. All belong to the hotel and PVB owners have right to use.

Just got back from WDW and I checked in with a few DVC cast members to see if there was any new info. As was posted, they had a big meeting a week or so ago but apparently no definite news was released. I did include our many questions in my conversations and was told the following;

- they were shown new artist renderings and the exterior may have been changed for the better since the earlier renderings and that "I" (personally I guess) would love the new look;
- the interior will be a mixture of native American art and Polynesian art (not sure how that will go) and it was outstanding;
- one cast member was trying to tell me, without actually telling me, that it will be a new resort with restrictions;
- parking is going to be an issue;
- nothing about restaurants was confirmed;
- they had thought about adding a new monorail station but that was nixed;
- they hinted that it might go into 2025 before opening.

Of course, take all of the above with a large grain of salt, especially since I was unable to confirm any of it with a bus driver!

Uhg..Me either…just why? Sorry, just don’t want them messing with the Polynesian theme or feel.

Because it was originally Reflections? 🤣 I think the interior will be fine. It will have that west coast, mid-mod feel that the new Disneyland Hotel tower has except with a Polynesian flair and color palette.

The state of the exterior building completely mimics the original CGI concept art. I guess they could "dress it up," but I'd be leery of those telling you it's going to look radically different. Disney's hotel concept artwork has been spot on since Shanghai—because it's outsourced to external architectural firms, not WDI.

I just would like to point out that DVC kiosk cast members are not guides. So, just take that into account. They aren't bound by the same ethical standards.

This makes me hopeful its still up in the air whether or not it’ll be a new association but I’m glad our bus drivers seemed to have consistent information otherwise!

Since we know Poly1 dues will be 8.23ish for 2024, does this change opinion on seperate vs same association? Would 8.23 be in line with new resort dues? I think it’s comparable to Riveria, but way under DLT. Thoughts?

This marks two years in a row PVB has seen dues increase above 7%, one of the highest rate hikes.

Edit: Wrong chart, duh!

I don’t think that it sways me one way or the other…more so because Poly tower isn’t slated to open until the end of 2024…so, the expenses tied to that would be minimal.

I have not read through this whole thread, but Derek from DVC Resale Market was on a podcast I listen to recently discussing the Poly and whether it would be a new association. He said he thought it would be the same association and then mentioned that to be a new association, a great deal of time consuming work would have to be done, including meeting with groups in every state and in foreign countries to establish a new time share association. The implication seemed to be that these meetings are not taking place, and that if the Poly was going to be a new association, the meetings would already be happening. Has this been discussed at all here? I thought it was an interesting perspective. He did explicitly say he does not know for sure one way or the other, but his feeling is same association.

I have not heard about that but even with it being added to PVN, they have to meet and get approval to sell the new rooms.

That happened with VGF and it was the day before sales were set to start when I got a call from my guide who said they were still waiting for NY to sign off so he could sell and share info the next day.

So, I am not sure how much different new or old. The crazy thing at this point is that they are purposely keeping it secret and I can’t figure out why. It doesn’t make a lot of sense.

Had a thought. Can anyone who owns VB look at the new statement for 2024 dues and see what it says for units?

Just wondering if they slipped anything in there?

If it is the same association, isn't the simplest reason for keeping it secret that the earlier they announce it, the more direct sales they will lose to the resale market?

I could see that as a potential reason when this was announced last year…but we are about 6 months or so from sales beginning?

To pull guides into the meeting to go over a lot of detials, and still not share? Then again, we have a report of one guide imyong same and another implying new.

I find it baffling at this point..but then again, DVD has been known to do baffling things.

Maybe they will be announcing at the membership meeting next month.

ETA: Oh…just had a thought…if they discuss FW cabins at the meeting and it is decided to have restrictions, maybe if this is new, that’s why we haven’t heard. They’ll be announced together????

I agree … there’s really no reason to keep it a secret if it’s a new association - they have made that clear with FW all along. I think there has to be a reason they are so tight lipped with PVB and I have a feeling it has something to do with the fact that it’s the same.

There was no way to make FW part of another association because DVC doesn’t exist there.

So, I don’t think that would have anything to do with it..but, you are correct that maybe they don’t want to announce because it blows their messaging out of the water and want to wait as long as they can?

I can say that if the do make it the same, they will lose some credibility that resale will be restricted in the future…

Put us out of our misery!!
