But instead of being the class clown, a role some people would place her in because of her humor, Kristen is actually very focused on the academic parts of life. She doesn’t blurt out any answer that immediately comes to her mind. Instead she lets the idea simmer in her head, her eyebrows moving up and down telling us she is thinking, until the words fit perfectly together.
Kristen doesn’t learn just to get the simple, obvious answer. Instead she digs deeper into the material, whether it is a scene from Hamlet or a difficult French book, to come up with ideas that satisfy her. She can explain a math problem in easy terms or summarize history readings in two or three sentences. She is always willing to help a fellow classmate with homework or to engage in a conversation about a topic we’re studying in a class. She may seem quiet when you first meet her, but eventually the personality hidden underneath is revealed. I can see her kindness and love for life through her quiet, mysterious ways and she has made my years at Falmouth Academy both fun and intellectually stimulating.
