Lets me get this right NO pre board COVID TESTS 9/23/2022

Let's be frank, you wouldn't be saying that once you achieve Platinum status.
Why would I miss something I don't have/never had?

I have no issue showing up at an assigned time for a better experience. The only thing that was happening in the past was people crowding the terminal.

Its funny, I would rather have lower capacity cruises and more of the covid restrictions back. The worst part of them removing the testing requirement is more people on the ships so really, its a negative for all of us.

There are undoubtedly people who won't want to cruise without the testing protocols in place. DCL had to give them some lead time to decide whether to cancel or not. I'm sailing on the 19th on the Wish- last Wish cruise with testing and while frustrating, I understand why it wasn't immediate. I'm also a little glad the testing is still in place. If I'm positive, I have no business cruising and it does at least reduce a little of bringing it on board. We aren't stressed about testing at all. It is what it is and we've made alternative plans should it happen.

But if you would be worried about brining it on board you could still test on your own. DCL still is allowing cancel/reschedule due to covid positive/exposure. Now for how much longer who knows.

So someone either was a false negative and spread it around the ship, or one of us picked it up in a port and brought it back to the ship.
Don’t think you can blame case spread on “one of us”. It’s more than likely multiple people picked it up in one or all of the ports visited. Those ports are mostly “3rd world” where there is not as much emphasis on protection from the spread of any contagious condition.

That is until the already high premium price of a Disney cruise goes up even higher because of reduced crowds on ships that can handle 4,000 people. I'm all for getting rid of restrictions that are proving to be ineffective and getting the ships back to what they were designed for with higher capacities. Just my worthless 2 cents.

lol Well I mean it only took "one of us" to bring it back. But I agree that many people probably picked it up. In Jamaica they were trying. I was sad to see the stores with signs requiring masks and literally I was the only one who listened and put one on.

Kinda my thinking. People are testing positive coming off anyway. While it might be stopping some people, when you stop at ports things will happen. Or it was a delayed onset. Unfortunately Covid isn't going away. It's something we will have to live with. It morphs too much. Like the flu.

If they were raising the pricing based on capacity, totally understandable not to want to pay more.

Over the last year or so that Disney has resumed cruising, we have had our best cruises ever because none of the Covid Protocols really interrupted why WE PERSONALLY enjoy cruising. As the restrictions ease and the ships fill back up, a lot of the changes we enjoyed have been removed and I can't fault them for wanting to get back to normal. (I wouldn't mind having people still stay 6 feet away from me at all times. 🤣 )

Our personal experience during the covid travel period with DCL was wonderful. Obviously most of those things were things other people missed, and we didn't so my opinion is useless.

Also, for the Disney Wonder at least Sept 23 is the earliest they could lift the testing requirements, as it's the first cruise out of San Diego. Zero chance Canada is lifting the testing requirements for cruises before the end of the Alaska 2022 season.
This is same for Magic, since Magic is going to Bermuda.

I do admit, I loved having the extra personal space in the theaters and restaurants post-covid. Though, I don't remember it being too crammed pre-covid except at sail away and pirate night. But then we always try to cruise when school is back in session!

Off season cruising is our go to also! We did a 7 night on the Fantasy the week before Easter in 2019 when the ship was at capacity. (Tried to add someone to our room and they said the ship couldn't add any more guests.)

NEVER AGAIN. 🤣

Selfishly - I am glad. We sail 10/20 -10/24 and then I sail for my birthday 11/4-11/7. I was really nervous about testing between the two cruises and now I don’t have to worry about one of them being canceled due to a positive test. I realize how incredibly selfish I sound. But I’ve been looking forward to both of these cruises and it’s been a source of major stress. Happy to have one bit of stress eliminated.

In keeping with Murphy's Law, the first leg of our cruise begins 9/10, the second 9/17 ending the day before the testing requirement ends, LOL! We're vaccinated and double boosted yet still tested positive the day that we debarked from our Carnival Horizon cruise on 8/28. Fortunately, I expect that we will be cleared in plenty of time before our 9/10 sailing, though I'm naturally a bit concerned about the second leg. I also was symptomatic following a 10 day Carnival Miracle cruise in July, though I tested negative. I can only hope that our immune systems will be in hyper-overdrive for our upcoming cruises (We also hop on the Carnival Mardi Gras following the Disney cruises). I have made an appointment for the 3rd booster before we sail this go round. While we don't have any specific health issues that would define us as immuno-compromised, we are both in our sixties and have had breakthrough cases, so I'm taking every precaution available. There isn't anything that I can do but hope for the best. I will say that my experience is that it is difficult to avoid Covid on cruise ships right now. That was not the case when we sailed last July, and this January and March.

Update: This is the email that I got back in response to my email to Disney Cruise Line asking for them to resume Platinum embarkation benefits.

I was fine with the testing and wasn't going to let it get in the way of my vacation excitement. But I can't say that I am not glad that I won't have to deal with it. I cruise 1 week after this takes affect. I just did my 30 day check in and got 11am PAT and boarding group # 3. I also booked a GTY room and was assigned a great location, IMO. So now I am just excitedly waiting for my cruise day to come. I can't wait to check out the Wish. I plan on loving it.

Last reminder for this thread that the board's policy on covid opinion is still in force. I've removed more posts stoking the fire of opinions without adding to the discussion of Disney's change in the policy.
