Lets "Help" DVC choose the next theme!

Hay Dave-
Now what is wrong with Kzoo??? ;)

Ever been there??

Actually I live about 40 miles north of Kzoo. I think I would feel the same way about it as you do SSR.

I've always liked the Mexican/Adobe style buildings with archways. Archs could be used for Italian and Roman themes as well, which would bring us back to a Venice theme. Although, the Mexican theme would lend itself to water saving landscaping with cactus and aloe...if it could take the high humidity of FL.

Nothing wrong with Kzoo. Actually, I love the place. ( I believe Derek Jeter grew up there) I just wouldn't want a theme based around it. Saratoga is a great place, 8 weeks out of the year or so, but worthy of a Disney theme? :confused3 As someone stated, I haven't seen a bad idea yet. Makes you wonder about that conversation that led to the SSR? :confused3 :sad2: Maybe we can recreate that tragic day.

A non kid dvc resort.

as time goes on the original owners of dvc will be empty nesters. granted some trips will be with grand children, but some won't.

a TRUE UP SCALE adult DVC, no guest under 18/21 on site........

make the point totals higher, make the quality and service OVER THE TOP.

You wouldn't need a "theme", other then upscale quality.

Build it and they will come.......................... and spend a boatboatboat load of cash.

I can't imagine Disney ever building a non kid dvc resort but I think SSR could come close if they made some changes. They already have the Spa, Fitness Center, Upscale Decor and Walkway to Downtown Disney. They just need to add the additional amenities that adults look for.
For example:
- an upscale restaurant
- wine bar
- gourmet coffee bar
- adults only lounge/club area
- adult only bistro with inside & outside dining extending over the dock with a view of downtown disney
etc.....

I am confused are we discussing new themes, or SSR yet again. :confused3

Actually SSR has been visited by travelers since the 1700s as a cultural area and for it's great Spas. Since the Spa was already there; Saratoga Springs was a natural choice for the resort.

It also is home to the country's oldest racetrack.

I like Chuck's suggestion, of Southwest, as I find Coronado Springs one of the prettiest resorts at Disney.

Would love a Typhoon Lagoon Villas-straw huts and all! We are big on the tropical escapes being from the snowbelt. The Epcot resort theme could fit with Epcot's 25th anniversary :)

If they never add to the Poly, I'd love a DVC with a similar theme. This kind of goes with theTyphoon Lagoon theme.

Exotic sounds really good too-far east, or africa, anything like that :)

<Sigh.> Are there any threads on here that don't bash SSR? I thought we were talking about ideas for new resorts?

How about a Mediterranean theme? Italian villas, South of France feel, Greek isles, Cypress, something along those lines. But if they use my idea, they have to allow kids or I'll never get to go there. ;)

Storybook DVC Resort with rooms 10 different room designs based on the disney storybook classics (Winnie the Pooh, Peter Pan, Cinderella, etc). All theme furniture and furnishings including hidden storybook characters in the room.

Including character restaurant and character greeters

I'd love to see something Italian! Maybe a Capri theme? The place is PARADISE. They could to the pool with a "blue grotto" and volcanic black rock beaches. Maybe build the hotel so it has a big piazza in the center?

Chuck,

I like that idea. :thumbsup2 You might as well take advantage of the climate you have at WDW. I love Mexico also.

God ideas all of them. Also things we have here in the real Saratoga Springs. Saratoga Springs was a playground for the wealthy gamblers. Still a lot of money moved north from the city.

Sorry, I get confuseed what thread I'm on. Capri is awesome, have you been there? Cypress is great also. We were all set to book a trip there and then found out my wife was pregnant. Another great idea.

Listen guys,

It is really hard to word this one because this could be interpreted the wrong way. I'll give it a go.

After the latest resort offering from DVC I am not exactly filled with confidence. The "think tank" at DVC needs a little help. I'd hate to see the next DVC Resort become Disney's Kalamazoo, Michigan or Disney's Boise, Idaho.

Anywhoooo, lets start by assuming they will at some point build a DVC Resort that is not connected to a deluxe hotel. Lets come up with some really good ideas that will help them out. Lets go for something with a broad appeal.

Thanks for all of thoughts here. Nothing is out of play and remember they are listening.

IF the next DVC was IN Kalamazoo, Michigan I'd be all for it :thumbsup2 40 minutes away....of course the weather sucks 8 months of the year, Tony the Tiger is getting fat from all the sugar, the Tigers suck, the Lions suck....ok, I'm depressed, time for a vacation!

gosh, i totally agree!! :thumbsup2 it is so old and tiresome already, go moan and groan somewhere else. i truly don't think anyone wants to hear it anymore! :confused3

How about DVC GITMO, or QUANTICO? Now that's a theme. What about DVC Great Plains? Maybe even DVC Zzyzx Road or DVC Barstow. Those would be great. :stir:

Not a bad idea, but it would still need to have a theme in my opinion. I need Disney to take me away from the normal things in life. A generic, albeit high end hotel just won't do that. :smokin:
