Let's hear it for some chain dining...

I didn't like the fact that McDonald's was in DTD- glad it's gone and I hope no more chain restaurants pop up! Disney is truly our escape from everyday life and chain restaurants only interfere with the feeling we get from being at Disney.

We don't have the chains that some others are mentioning, so those don't bother us a bit!

Il Mulino might be considered a chain (there's one in NYC).

There's also one in Las Vegas.

I know Wikipedia isn't the greatest source of information but they did have a definition

A restaurant chain is a set of related restaurants with the same name in many different locations that are either under shared corporate ownership or franchising agreements.

Some of the mentioned WDW restaurants are chains, others are restaurants by different names under an umbrella corporation (like Levy restarants, which operates the DTD Wolfgang Puck restaurants, Portobello, and Fulton's Crab House). Not sure how many restaurants you need to make a chain. T-Rex has only two locations (Orlando and Kansas City).

The DTD McDonald's is being replaced by a Latin chicken restaurant chain, Pollo Campero (franchised). They have locations in 14 states, Washington DC and internationally.

I'd like to see either a Pizza Hut, Dominos, or Papa John's , to replace the worst food I've had and that is the Pizza your order or get at your Resort.

I believe you can order delivery to a Disney resort from Dominos or Papa John's as well as a couple of local pizza joints that deliver. Not so sure about Pizza Hut.

You don't want food chains but you are willing to pay $8.00 for a cup of BURNT COFFEE? To bad. Atleast some of the chains have better quality food than the TS that Disney has.

No chains please. When we go on non disney vacations DH likes the predictablity of chains so we always end up at Chilis and places like that. I'm the more adventurous type and will try anything once. Disney fits the bill for both of us. DH knows he can trust Disney to give him a great meal so he's willing to step out of the box. I get to try different things, so I'm happy.

Why??

I dislike most chain restaurants; I can make better food myself. I love that Disney doesn't have an Applebee's in front of Cinderella's castle!

To each their own.

Sorry, but I love that there are no chains in Disney. I love being able to eat in restaurants that I can't get at home. I'd be disappointed to see chains in Disney. I don't even like that there is a Rainforest Cafe in Disney. I eat there at my local mall and would never want to eat there on vacation.

The most I'd ever want to see is a good place for coffee. I don't drink coffee, but I've heard that Disney coffee is terrible. Therefore, I'd pray for decent coffee for my friends and fellow Disney guests. :wizard:

I like the selection of restaurants Disney already has, but I don't see what's so terrible about chains. Depending on the restaurant and the day, I have had much better food in a chain than I have at some Disney restaurants. Anything at Garden Grill versus anything at my local Lone Star, for example. :confused3

In DLR there is a McDonald's fry wagon in DL. In DCA their was McDonald's burgers. Though this location is being changed.

Many Epcot resturaunts are managed by outside resturaunts though they don't operate with the same names.

I really like not seeing any cororate names other than Coke in my Disney dining.

The only 2 I would welcome would be 1 Starbucks (not in MK though, too odd) and a Chik-Fil-A. In Michigan, we don't have the Chik-Fil-A, and seeing as if we never rent a car and stay on property, I'd love to be able to stop in and get some chicken nuggets! YUM!
Plus, Starbucks Chai Frappucinos are the best! I can live without them though, for a week or 2. :)

No chains!

However an exception could be made for Starbucks.

I'm glad there aren't any fast food chains in Disney. I can get that at home. I'm down with a Starbucks-or at least something like it.

Woah, I'm just shocked!!! Although, I don't disagree with the mundane that comes with a lot of "familiar" restaurants that we see every day. However, I guess my "issue" is that I visit Disney SO frequently, and don't rent a car too often while we are there...sometimes, I just want some really good "reliable" food. I feel like if I get a burger at MK it's the same as the burger at any place else Disney has and too be honest there are fewer and fewer Disney food services that offer quality "I gotta have that again" food. I can't find decent coffee ANYWHERE, and sometimes I just want a good 'ole "standby" type meal when I'm exhausted and ready to crash in my room.

When I invision Disney having the "names" and requirements of these places, i'm in agreement...it'd lose something. But, my selfish nature just wants what it wants sometimes. :)

I'm not interested in any major chains in Disney. I don't consider Emeril or Todd English in the "chain" category. I do consider Sonic in the chain category ... well, really in the nasty fast-food category :crazy2:

I don't eat at places like that at home, and I certainly wouldn't eat somewhere like that on vacation! If I want a good burger, I'll find a "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" type place.

Sorry! I think most Disney food is chainy and mass-produced tasting enough.
