Ok, Disney has celebrated their theme parks being opened for 50 years. Now lets move on. I think the best thing WDW can do is this. I feel it would be great that the next event would be the Re-Grand opening of the Magic Kingdom. What I mean is this. Turn their attention to the re-doing and fixing up their older classic attactions. POTC is already getting a face lift, but lets do it to JUNGLE CRUISE, HAUNTED MANSION, SPACE MOUNTAIN and even a little to THUNDER MOUNTAIN. After all the attractions are complete with their improvements, hold a Grand Re-Opening celebration.

Perhaps Spring in Australia. :teeth:

The Happiest Celebration continues through September 2006.

Sounds silly, but I'm glad to hear that! When we were there, we weren't able to get gold Mickey ears and I want some. I know we could order them from the Laughing Place, but it's just not the same, if you know what I mean. I wanted to buy them myself at the parks.

Well. maybe to keep the celebration fresh, they can announce what I am talking about and show models of it during the celebration.

Well, considering the celebration is about the opening of Disneyland, perhaps there could be more of an emphasis on that park, and do what you suggest to WDW when it celebrates 50 years.

DH and I were talking about what they would do when WDW turns 50--- after all this whole party is because DL is 50!!! just imagine the celebration then!!!!

I suspect we can expect to see all of those suggestions address over the course of the next 10-15 years, with the possible exception of Jungle Cruise. There is no chance of them being undertaken at the same time: Imagine the outcry from guests if three of the best attractions in one of the four parks was going through rehab at the same time. That's not to mention, of course, the limited capital available for rehabs in any one year.

Why couldn't you get the golden Mickey ears hats? DD11 wanted one and I was hoping to get her one when we went back spring 2007. Did they discontinue making them? Sellers on Ebay are selling them, but they are gouging buyers big time for them. Shame.

Laughing place is way too high also. Looks like she won't be getting them if all this is true. oh well.

When we went in June, all the gift shops we looked in were sold out. Probably bought by all the e-bayers. When we went to Hilton Head after our trip, we went to Disney Hilton Head and the women in the gift shop were even unable to find any gold ears.

Do you think they'll still be selling them in 2007? I kind of assumed they'd quit when the 50th celebration is over.

Disneyland has suffered for years as the red-headed stepchild of WDW. For years our attractions suffered neglect (one even killed someone remember?!). For years DL attractions and buildings have needed paint and dusting. FINALLY we are getting the attention, paint, maintenance we deserve. Hearing people say enough about DL focus on WDW is like hearing a spoiled brat going "me me me it's all about me! Focus back on me!" Let us have our glory. It's Disneyland birthday and they expanded the celebration to the other parks.

it's true that they ran out of the golden ears in early May, just after the celebration began. However they appear to be back in stock now. I was there during the beginning of December for the taping of the parade and they had them in the stores.

September 15th or 18th should be the final date, if my memory serves me right, and it might not. I wasn't paying a lot of attention at the time of roll out. *chuckles*

As for why they did it at WDW and not at Disney Land, it was because WDW has the capacity to handle the crowds that DL dosen't have. Unfortunately, Anahiem is small, and over crowded. So it made more fiscal sense to bring it to a place where they could expand and draw a larger crowd. If you ask me the marketing of it sucks, especially the misleading commercial.

I agree! DL hasn't looked this great in years, and the castle is just breathtaking. I'll be sad when the Celebration is over!

Are you talking about the Celebration? It's happening at both parks!
