But, here's how the punch situation worked out. DD and RM both left to come home Friday at the same time. RM mentioned that she and her DFi were coming back Saturday night. We had to go back to the university for DD's Rho Chi initiation banquet (pharmacy honors society) Friday night (DD came home to ride back with us so she wouldn't have to bring her car back alone that night - DFi was at MSU with the FFA).

After the banquet, we went back to DD's apartment to get her bridal shower gifts. DD looked in the fridge, and RM had left one of the gallon jugs of punch - most likely for RM and her DFi when they came back to the apt. on Saturday. DD took the gallon jug out and carried it home with us. She said that if the RM asked about it (which she didn't), she was going to tell her that since RM took everything else from both showers, surely she wasn't going to complain about a little punch.

Oh yeah, DD said that RM was furious because somebody gave her a book called, "Why Men Marry (not so nice word )"! I don't know whether they slipped it in at a shower or what...

She locked the chips in the car?!?!? What kinda of passive-aggressive person is this?!?!? I understand why she is living with this person next year, but boy, would this strain the friendship!!!

Glad that your DD got at least some of the punch. Some people never fail to amaze me (and not always in a good way!!!).

Yes, she has actually attended classes in Sweden, but I wondered for awhile myself.

One thing about it, we know she's studying geography...

We just added two cardinalfish yesterday. They are black and white with these spiky things coming out of their heads. We named them Wolverine and Magneto.

Now that's what I can fish names!

That's half of the purpose of that first year, or even the first two years. You need the time to really figure out what you like, and what you don't like!!!

I agree, and a lot of the first two years are pretty much the same courses anyway.

DD - she has not missed a day of school due to her anxiety since the infamous stay in bed and rest day last October! We are very strict with her bedtime, even over spring break it was bed by 10 and we woke her up at 7:30 to keep her somewhat scheduled. A friend spent the night and it was with the understanding of bed by 10. During the school week it is 8:30 bed and up at 6:30. We are still amazed at what a difference her getting enough sleep makes and how she learned "to suck it up" and to deal with her anxiety. Meltdowns are so rare and our automatic response of "you need to go calm down, then we can help sort you out" has become something she does on her own before she comes to us in pieces!

True enough. Poor girl won't know what to do with herself when she returns to Colorado in June and she stops hopping on cheap airplanes to go places!!

Our fish names are never "normal". Easier to remember them that way. Thus far, they are Nemo, Marla, Ian, Dori, Rosie, Draco, Diablo, Iris, Maybelline, Rorschach, Wolverine, and Magneto!! X-Men was on this weekend and we happened to watch a behind the scenes thing on HBO about how the movies came about, so the names just popped into my head when I was looking at them in the tank. I'm kind of a simpleton when you really get to know me!!

I agree, and a lot of the first two years are pretty much the same courses anyway.

Yeah, those prerequisites make the first two years an adventure in just "getting through" them!!

I am so glad to hear that she's doing so much better. It sounds like you have really landed on a great solution, and it sounds like it's working so well. I am very happy for her and for your family.

Well, truth be told, the friendship is more a matter of convenience than anything else. I doubt that they'll see each other at all once they stop living together. They're related, but we don't really see each other hardly at all.

We are still amazed at what a difference her getting enough sleep makes and how she learned "to suck it up" and to deal with her anxiety. Meltdowns are so rare and our automatic response of "you need to go calm down, then we can help sort you out" has become something she does on her own before she comes to us in pieces!

All the turmoil was really worthwhile because you've helped her learn an important skill that she's going to need the rest of her life.

I just figure I've made progress if I come up with a name that doesn't end in "Y" (Smokey, Vinny, Rixie, Gypsy, Dolly, Stormy - well, you get the idea )!

Supposed to be 85 here today which just means it will snow this weekend
The local mountain (Peavine) still has snow on the peak, the indian lore is no planting of tomatos or other cold sensitive plants until the snow on the peak that can be seen from town is all gone. When it is all gone it is safe to plant. It's actually pretty accurate.

I've been swamped and distracted - New game on Facebook that DS and I play, Farmtown, it's totally lame but we meet up almost every day, harvest and plow our crops and chitchat! It's been nice but kind of time consuming

How is everyone this week? Did you all have nice weekends?

Horseshowmom are you losing your mind yet? I can't believe its almost wedding time!

So far, so good, but the weekend was busy. DH and I decided to buy DD a new refrigerator for the house, so she and I went to Sears to pick one out Friday afternoon. Of course, since we live in the boondocks, the nearest Sears is 25 miles away (it's just an appliance store). Then we had to take the refrigerator to their house (cheaper to use our truck than pay to have it delivered).

Saturday, we met with the wedding planner to finalize our plans. I think everything is going to be beautiful and should go very well. The lady is great to work with, and I keep hearing from different people (who have been to weddings there) how beautiful the weddings there are. It will be here before we know it.

Sunday afternoon was one of her bridal showers. She got a lot of great stuff and lots of cash and gift cards. Everything was very pretty, and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. That's two down and one to go. The next one (on DFi's side) will actually be held at their house (so everybody can see all the renovations to the house). He's glad because that means he won't have to move the presents twice!

You know that's what people around here do too except it's for real! People meet at the Co-Op when picking up supplies or at the restaurant for breakfast.

Hi Melissa and everyone!!

Gray day here. But at least there's no snow.

Melissa, I think we are going to be renting a car and driving through Europe rather than taking the trains. After some thought, we think it's cheaper and more efficient to be on our own schedule. Plus, they drive on the right side of the road, so it isn't as though it's going to be as complicated as when we went to Australia and New Zealand and we rented cars there and had to learn how to drive on the left side of the road. That was a challenge!!

Work-wise, things are going well. I got assigned to the group I wanted (they FINALLY announced the reorganization last Thursday) and I just met my new boss (her boss is a really good friend of mine). She seems very nice, and I am optimistic that things will go well. Additionally, I am working with some very good friends of mine that are hard workers and wonderfully cooperative, so I landed in a very good spot. Yay!!!!

Melissa, I had to smile at your Facebook interactions. Farmtown, huh? This is something I know NOTHING about!!! Sounds like fun, though.

DS called last night. They did room pick at the fraternity house for next year. He had a high number due to all of his participation in activities this semester, so he and his roommate got to pick early. They ended up with a room on the 3rd floor, which from what he said, is a very good thing. He seemed happy with his pick. He should be home sometime near the end of next week - hard to believe that his first year of college is over.

DD and I will be Skyping in a couple of hours. She got back from Berlin today and I am anxious to hear all about her trip.

BF finishes a month earlier than she does. They will meet in Paris in mid-May for a few days, then he will fly home for a couple of days, then go to Utah for his soil study job for the summer. Yes, she will come home with us after we finish our vacation travels. We will have both kids home for the summer, which will be very nice.

Glad to hear that the wedding plans are going smoothly. I'm sure it will be a beautiful wedding. The shower sounds nice - especially since SOMEBODY wasn't around to steal all of the leftovers!!!!

We've actually declined some offers because it would have been people that were from our extended circle (yes, we know them, but they aren't close to us), and we just felt uncomfortable doing that.

The other girl stated after her first shower that she was tired of writing thank you notes, and she wasn't writing another one until after the wedding. Then one of her relatives mentioned Sunday (at DD's shower) that the girl recently said that she was just sick to death of going to all these showers (I guess she can only take so much cake and punch ). Maybe she would prefer that the gifts just be sent directly to her house to save her trouble (maybe they could enclose a pre-written thank you note for her to sign and send back )!

I'm glad to hear that things have improved for your DD!

DD is taking her last exam right now and will be home later today. We go back tomorrow for graduation.

She called last night and said that she had just gotten off the phone with DFi. He had been on his way to paint the living room ceiling in their house (trying to finish the renovations before the wedding which is fast approaching - less than one month now). On his way, he saw two little kittens in a ditch (nowhere near a house). No doubt, they were abandoned, so he stopped and picked them up. He was taking them home to feed them but had decided he might better go back to make sure there weren't anymore that he overlooked. She said, "You know, Mama, he's really a good man." I have to agree with her.

Add to that, she said they also now have a dog. He apparently was also abandoned and just showed up at their house. It looks like he's staying too. So, they aren't married yet, but they have two cats and a dog!

Of course, they have a long ways to go to catch up with me (4 dogs, 12 cats, and a squirrel! ).


Melissa, I hope everything is going okay with you. I've heard from Sandy via PM but haven't heard from you lately. Let us know how things are going!

Hope all is well with the DDs & DSs. Two cats and a dog...not even married yet?....that is so sweet.

Sandy - Up-thread you mentioned Skyping. How do you do that? Is it expensive? Is it free?

DD is slogging through the last month of school, last day is June 18th. AP Exam and that final out of the way, now there are the state-mandated course-content tests AND finals and projects and a show. I'm ready for a long nap.
