Let the Prom Drama CONTINUE . . . . . . . .

Good Morning - not much to report just doing the Friday    :dance3:    Happy Dance!

Tomorrow night is the JA dance, then a group of us Sr. Moms who have been tight since 2nd/3rd grade are going for drinks and munchies after the kids all leave. This way we can go cry together:rolleyes:

Hope you all have a great weekend

Happy Friday!!!

I hope that you all have a great weekend and hope your DS has a great time at the dance. :thumbsup2

We're working the aquarium tomorrow and going to Vail on Sunday. Have a great weekend, all!! :goodvibes

Sounds like lots of things going on with both of you for the weekend. :thumbsup2

DD called last night and then again this morning. They have just about had it with their downstairs neighbors (in two different apts.). They wound up calling the cops twice last night (once for each apt.). Their floor was literally vibrating from the loud music downstairs. They've had problems with the guys trying to out yell each other (not mad, just yelling). The second time was also for noise. When the police got there that time, DD said they cleared out about 14 people and then stayed there for quite awhile. She said they regularly leave beer bottles and cigarette butts on the porch. :headache:

This is an upscale apt. complex (and believe me, apt. rent corresponds with that fact). If we wanted this kind of stuff, they could live in much cheaper accomodations. This has been going on for months but has not improved (they have complained to the management with limited success). My cousin's wife called me this morning (their DD lives with mine) and suggested that she and I go over to Oxford ourselves this afternoon. I told her that I had the same idea in mind, she just beat me to it.

So, it looks like I'm going to take off early to take care of that. Then, I have to get back to go to a pastor's banquet tonight (DH is a Gideon, and they host this banquet for the local pastors yearly). It's a very nice thing to do, and I have to go, but I only slept about 3 hours last night (couldn't sleep and wound up getting up and working).

Enjoy your weekends ladies (can't wait to hear about the dance)! :thumbsup2

That has to be so frustrating. Especially if it's a place where the rent is high - you hope that discourages such riff-raff, but then again, we're dealing with young people and some of them (thankfully not nearly all of them!) don't exercise common courtesy and good sense.

Have a safe trip there, and a good weekend. :goodvibes

Yes, and Ole Miss has a lot of very wealthy alumni whose kids attend, and they are very well bankrolled. A lot of them don't use much judgement. I may have mentioned the student who wound up causing the death of a campus officer a year or so ago by dragging the officer to death after the boy tried to take off during a traffic stop :sad2: The officer left a wife and small children, and the boy's life will never be the same.

We wound up not going after all. The girls said they would handle it. Right now, they want to change apts., and the complex is trying to say that they will have to pay another deposit to move (which doesn't sound very kosher to me :rolleyes1 ). If it doesn't get worked out soon, I suspect they will decide to move somewhere else for the last year. I would much rather they work all this out rather than having to move everything, but I also don't want to have to worry about somebody keying their cars to get back at them for complaining. :headache:

We'll just have to see how it goes...

Good Morning Ladies:

How was everyones weekends? I need a nap:rolleyes: :coffee:

Sheila, I agree, the girls should not have to pay another deposit, the manager needs to get the situation sorted out. Perhaps it is time for a parent to step in and remind the management that they have an obligation to all their renters.

Sandy, is the tank up and running? Did you make it skiing? How was the dance?

We had a busy weekend. :hyper:
Saturday we went off to the Charter School presentation and DD has decided to go ahead and let us put in an application. They don't get a lot of vacancies and fill the ones they get with siblings of other students first, so we will just have to wait and see. While it is a public school, it has a lot of advantages over the average school (class sizes, school size, less administrative B.S. etc) we would have to get her there, she would have to wear a uniform etc. but it is a "high achieving" school where her current elem. is still failing. Plus, we think this school would fit her style and she will definatly learn more.

Left the school and the running began as well as it had started to snow.......... DH and DD headed home from the school and I continued further into town to meet up with DS and his GF at the florist. Picked up the flowers and then proceeded to the hair appt. GF got her hair all spiffed and the snow was getting heavier.........DS and GF proceeded home to meet up with my BFF the make up artist and I headed to the opposite corner of town to pick up BFF's DD from the Jr. Ski program.............still snowing, starting to get slushy, it is 3 p.m. BFF calls, her DH will get the DD I can head home and take pictures............turn around and head home.:drive:

Get home, GF is next door getting her make up done, DS is doing what he does best, eating! I send him off to the shower.......go next door to check on GF come back home and tack up white sheets to the wall to make a back drop for photos - DD does some "modeling" while I sort out flash, shadows etc. Meanwhile GF is now dressed and we take a bunch of pictures of her, then a bunch of DS and flowers and them together etc...... 5 p.m. it is really snowing, the roads are now white and DS and GF head out the door to go to "early pictures" and then off to Olive Garden for dinner. My DH says to me "is Mom ok??" I said "I'm fine but my heart just walked out the door with a beautiful blond".......

My friend calls and other than having to go back home where her DS forgot the corsage (he was already at his GF's) we were on schedule for drinks. A couple of the hubbies decided to join us so we took DD with us. One of the other families has a 11 yr. old and they brought her along. We had a great time! My DH left early with DD and the other couples DD. Meanwhile it continued to snow, I was so glad my DS was in my BFF's Land Rover.

Around 11:30, those of us left at the restaurant decided to head home, we now had about 6 inches of new snow and only 2 sober drivers:rolleyes: Several cars got left at the restaurant and were retrieved yesterday morning. There was a lot of carpooling going on to get us all home. Fortunately most of us live fairly close to each other and the restaurant is also close by. It was slow going due to the snow but we all made it home.

DS got home about 12:30 with GF, they had a great time. They stopped in to change clothes and then DS left to take GF home. Normally it takes him about 1/2 hr. round trip, due to all the snow it took him well over an hour, I know, I waited up.

By the time we woke up Sunday, we had about 8" of snow, DS had to get up and head into town, his tux was due back and he knows to be there when the doors open. The place rents out approx. 900 tuxes and they are all due back between 11 and 4.

Yesterday, I was moving a little slow:rotfl: but did manage to get some laundry done and pizza ordered.

Hope you are all doing well and that you have a great Monday, I'm going to go find a couch and take a nap!

I agree - that just does NOT make sense for them to have to pay another deposit if they're staying with the same management company. The usual practice is to credit the tenant for the deposit already made. I think it's time for an adult to get involved. Or I can send an attorney or two from Colorado down there to work them over . . . :rolleyes1

Hi Melissa, like you, I need a nap!!! Glad that your DS and GF had a good time at the dance. Sounds like they looked nice. Also glad about the possibility of the charter school. It certainly wouldn't hurt to give it a try, especially if it's more challenging.

Went out to dinner on Friday night with one of DH's well-to-do clients. Great French restaurant and too much wine. Not a great combination for Saturday morning!!! :sad2:

On Saturday, we got the live rock and water and spent most of the day putting them in the aquarium. Man, that's a much tougher job than you think it's going to be. And we are going back today to be more rock to complete the job since we didn't get enough. But it's starting to look very nice and I am getting impatient for fishies!!!!

By Saturday night, DH and I were so beat that I went out and got us some burritos and we vegged on the couch - exhausted.

DS had lacrosse practice mid-day Saturday (he made varsity; which he expected, but some underachieving/not as committed seniors did not and since seniors can't play on jv here, they got cut from the team :guilty: ) and came home and got cleaned up for the Snowball Dance. I got a few pictures of him alone here, he didn't want me to go over to the girl's house to take pictures. He looked very nice in his red and black combo. So with corsage in hand, he's out the door. They had a nice dinner and a good time at the dance. HOWEVER, my son, the "player" also danced with several other girls - including some "hot" sophomore (sophomore!!! yikes!!!) and he got her phone number and he's going to call her tonight.

Got up and 5:00 a.m. on Sunday morning (which was SO difficult to do!) and met one of DS's girl buddies at the Park-N-Ride and went to Vail. Good snow, but by the time we got home, I was ready to crash!!

So starting over this work week is hard - DH and I made a vow that we're taking it much easier next weekend!!!

Have a great day all. Back to work.

Oh I hear you - for us it was Blue Drinks  you know, I just don't recover like I used too:lmao:

Can't wait to see pix of fishies

I guess we had something similar happen on our Varsity baseball team, those boys heads get a little to big for their britches. Cudo's to the coach that is "brave" enough to tell his "entitled" Seniors they didn't make it. Tough life lesson to have to learn - Congrats to your DS:cheer2:

 Oh dear, why does this not surprise me:laughing: So, did he call??????????

No wonder I have no desire to ski, I can't start at noon:rolleyes: Glad you had a good time

Not much going on today - getting everything done so I can hop on a plane to Portland to deal with my Mother for the weekend. (actually, at this point she is no longer hard to deal with, she has no clue who I am) Dad on the other hand wants to "do lunch", oh goody!

My Aunt (who I stay with) has a friend who has a condo at the beach, so we are going to do Mother admin stuff on Friday morning and then head to the condo with a big bottle of Limon Rum for Mojitos and hang out until Sunday morning. Head back to Portland on Sunday, have lunch with Dad and then Monday I have several more Mother type administrative appointments. I should be back home by 10 p.m. Monday night.............sheesh I'm tired just typing the itinerary!

Last night DS's GF and I were on the computer looking at Prom dresses - I think she is getting into it although the nails she had put on last Thursday (that I paid for as her B-Day gift) she had removed by Sunday. DS said that while she liked the look she couldn't stand them so she soaked them, filed them and clipped them until they were gone! She is thinking about a short dress for prom (works for me, more economical) she really enjoyed getting all "girlied" up and taken out on the town.

Sheila maybe you can appreciate this since this City girl fails to see the humor :) : (told to me by DS)
DS's GF got a phone call the other night, she was all excited and we were all standing there clueless. Evidently, her family got a female goat about 4-5 months ago named Sugar. They already had a male goat who is fixed named Tramp. GF's Dad goes out to feed the horses Saturday night and finds a baby goat in the barn along with a much skinnier Sugar. They knew Sugar was getting fat, they thought it was because she was being well taken care of. The fact she was pregnant never crossed anyones mind since Tramp is fixed (yes, these people have some strange names for their animals, most of them are 4 letter words:rotfl2: ) Anyway......So, the family on Sunday is trying to decide what to name the baby goat. They decide to name him "Coors Light" CL for short since it is the parents favorite drink. I swear I'm not making this stuff up:angel: (something along the lines of Tramp needs Coors Light to get some Sugar) These people are corrupting my DS:lmao: who finds all of this just bizarre and hilarious

On that note :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: I'm going back to work

Thanks. He's pretty into his sport. Meanwhile, I need to dig out all of the blankets, gloves, coats, etc. to load back into the car to keep ME warm on the bleachers!!! :rotfl:

Yes, he did. Apparently she's moving - maybe before the end of the school year (which seems unlikely to me, but hey, what do I know?). It was a good phone call according to DS. Her dad flys a Flight for Life helicopter and her mom has some sort of double-secret high security clearance job that the girl doesn't even know what it is.

No wonder I have no desire to ski, I can't start at noon:rolleyes: Glad you had a good time
DH and I both decided that we need a joint "call in sick" day during the week so that we can lay around all day long!!

Coors Light? Oh my goodness; you owe me a new keyboard. I just sprayed Diet Coke all over this one!!! :rotfl2:

Have a good day, all!!!

CL, huh? :lmao:

We've had gelded males try to mate with mares, but nothing has ever come of it (fortunately). Goats are notorious for their mating practices. A male will try to mate immediately after a female gives birth (apparently, female goats aren't mean enough! ;) ).

The snow skiing sounds wonderful, but I'm in the same camp with Melissa. I sure do like to sleep late!

Things are busy here, and the wind is horrific. We had a front come in last night, and not only did the temps drop, but the wind will cut right through you.

Ironic comment from the Supt. yesterday.

I asked him to come by my office for a short chat. He's employed DH's niece to take care of fixed assets. She was helping out on a part-time basis before he took office. He first told her he didn't need her back, but has now apparently figured out that neither he nor anybody else in his office knows anything about fixed assets (including how to access the system ;)).

For her sake (definitely not his), I put together a one page synopsis (which took some doing) of what needed to be addressed with the principals for her to be able to really accomplish what needed to be done (many years ago, I was the one who actually put our current system into place).

As I went over the talking points with him and explained what he needed to do, he kept saying, "Mrs. horseshowmom, this is extremely impressive work, absolutely phenomenol. You are certainly proficient at what you do.", etc., etc. What I really wanted to say was, "Yes, I am, but I'm losing my job. How do you explain that?" :headache:

Got to go, very busy these days! I'll check back in the first chance I get. :goodvibes

Just popping in quickly. DH's dad was airlifted to the hospital in DD's university town in the middle of the night last night. He has breathing problems, and his oxygen level had dropped very low (even though he's on oxygen at home). They called an ambulance first, but the ambulance called for the helicopter. They were afraid he wasn't going to make it last night, but he did and is somewhat stable at this point.

DH followed them last night while I stayed here to tend to the horses, etc. Each time these episodes get a little worse, and, of course, one of them will get him eventually. FIL can be a very difficult man (and I do mean difficult), but this is really hard on DH.

If I don't get to check back in, Melissa, you try to stay sober this weekend (I know lunch with "Dad" can be stressful)! ;)

Sandy, keep up the good work with the aquarium!

I don't know about you guys, but I am ready for spring!

The guy is an idiot - next time you should say what you were thinking

Glad to hear he is stable

Must be a FIL thing, mine is also extremely difficult and it makes DH crazy
you try to stay sober this weekend
Party Pooper :flower3:

Yep - not even sure why I still make an attempt, part of me just won't let go.
Thanks. He's pretty into his sport. Meanwhile, I need to dig out all of the blankets, gloves, coats, etc. to load back into the car to keep ME warm on the bleachers!!! :rotfl:
It took me forever to figure it out but a zipped sleeping bag is warmer than any lap blanket, wrap & jacket combo out there. Get a couple hand warmers and toss in the bottom of the bag, step in and zip up - the difference is amazing. This coming from someone who has sat outside while DS played soccer, baseball and football for the last 14 years - I guess I am a little slow.
Yes, he did. Apparently she's moving - maybe before the end of the school year (which seems unlikely to me, but hey, what do I know?). It was a good phone call according to DS. Too bad she is moving - maybe maybe not, she is a Sophomore afterall. Now I am intrigued, what does her Mother do:cool2:
My DS always wanted to fly helicopters, it was his dream......sadly, he is too big, doesn't fit in the cockpits. He wanted to be a Coast Guard flyer until his counselor saw him his Freshman year and did some checking, he is too big:sad2: he was really bummed.
DH and I both decided that we need a joint "call in sick" day during the week so that we can lay around all day long!!
We call those mental health days
Have a safe trip and we look forward to hearing about your lunch with "Dad". I am SO boring compared to you!!! ;)
Better boring than bizarre - it is not like my family is exciting, they are just weird & bizarre!
Coors Light? Oh my goodness; you owe me a new keyboard. I just sprayed Diet Coke all over this one!!! :rotfl2:
Sad thing is I'm not makin it up - don't worry, Diet Coke is not sticky like regular coke.

I'm so sorry about your FIL, Sheila. I hope that he's okay. I empathize - even though family can be difficult, they still ARE family and you have to deal with them, even to a small degree.

Take care of yourself!!!

That's a good tip. Due to all of the skiing, my handwarmer stock is almost gone and I need to run back to the sporting goods store to buy more.

I still haven't a clue what she does. Given where we live with our heavy military presence, could be some sort of defense contact work, could be CIA, could be FBI - who knows?

DS and sophomore have been "talking" both at home and at school. I think he wants to take her out this weekend. He must like this one - he SHAVED last night!!! :lmao: (The lacrosse boys were going to stop shaving for the season. :) .)

I found out an interesting tidbit this weekend. DS's buddy girl, the one that went skiing with us on Sunday - her grandfather was a Naval Academy graduate who was a P.O.W. for 6 years alongside John McCain. I actually met the guy once at Wal-Mart when we were both scanning photos on the machines there a couple of years ago. Very nice man; I had no idea of his background. He wrote a book about this experience and drew all of the illustrations. DS got the book from his buddy and I plan on reading it over the next few weeks.

On a more worrisome note - my MIL called yesterday. Her doctor is pretty sure that she's got Parkinson's Disease. Not really much they can do except continue to monitor her. There's a patch that you can wear that administers dopamene (sp?) which is the brain chemical that Parkinson's suffererers lack. She'll be 81 in April, and still lives in her own home. We noticed when we've seen her over the past year that she's really deteriorated physically. :guilty: I guess we just take this stuff day by day. Meanwhile, DH is worried because his dad had Parkinson's too, so there's certainly the potential for his own genetic tendency toward it in the future. Poor guy; I went to WebMd and they really downplayed the genetic factor, although I know he has a reason to be concerned long-term.

Well, back to work. I hope that everyone has a good day!

Pam and Agnes, you are welcome back anytime. I think of both of you often. :flower3:

Have a safe trip, Melissa!! :dance3:

DD has a concert tonight. She loves music *so* much, but this year has been a bit of a....hmmmmm... an "adjustment". She has been feeling down about music at her school.

All I will say is that sometimes adults forget that we are really important to teenagers, especially those of us in a position of authority and/or who can mentor kids. Adults make flip decisions (like the lunch lady/football team/2nd grade class thread) and don't realize how much they can sometimes inadvertently hurt younger people.

agnes!

Hey, ladies! Just checking in quickly. FIL is basically still the same. They have him sedated and on a ventilator, so at this point, he's fine. Probably today, they will start weaning him off the ventilator. That will mean that they will have to bring him out of the sedation. Those two things are where the issues may start.

DH is concerned, because he knows how his dad is and how he will be when they take away the sedation. He's afraid that it may all come to a head at that point. He won't do his breathing treatments the correct way (even though they've shown him and tried to talk to him about it over and over, nobody can tell him anything). DH knows that it's just a matter of time now. Each time this happens it gets much worse. It's frustrating to the family that he's so bullheaded. DH had discussed with his mother a long time ago about the need for a living will, but she didn't do it (she's pretty difficult too, I'll take him over her any day :rolleyes1 ).

agnes!, good luck to your DD at the concert tonight!

Melissa, have a safe trip!

Sandy, my DH bought new hunting clothes back in the fall. He did some professional development training that he got paid for, so I insisted he spend it all on himself. $500 later, he now owns the warmest clothes you can find (from boots to head covering)! :rotfl2: Maybe I should send you the brands and types of things he bought. It will sure keep you warm (but you may stand out from the others in the stands :rotfl: )! :goodvibes

I'm sorry, Agnes about the music issues. I agree with you; sometimes adults in those positions of authority don't realize how much impact they have on these young lives. I also read that lunch lady/football team thread and I would have been really STEAMED if I were that parent (and she was!!).

I hope the concert went well. Have a great weekend!!

Glad to hear that your FIL is stablized, but I can certainly empathize with you about the follow-through issues. We've certainly dealt with them with DH's parents. Their biggest issue is medication - they expect any new medication to start working/curing them IMMEDIATELY. If it doesn't work after a day or so, then they stop taking it. Drives me nuts!! But I complain to DH and keep my mouth shut to everyone else about it. They won't change.

The hunting clothes sound very warm, but I don't think that they're quite my style. But thanks for thinking of me!!

DS has a lacrosse scrimmage in Denver tomorrow afternoon. The rest of the weekend will hopefully be very low key!!! We need it.

Oh! DS is officially "going with" the sophomore. Of course, we haven't met her yet, but I'm hoping that will occur soon. He's pretty happy about it all right now. Ahhh . . . young love.

Have a great weekend, all.

I just heard from the hospital, and the doctor said this morning that FIL's lungs aren't strong enough yet to be removed from the ventilator (he has COPD).

No, I didn't quite think so! :lmao:

Now that was quick! I guess he isn't wasting any time since he knows she's going to be moving soon (I hope there are no broken hearts coming :scared: ). I'm sure you'll meet her soon! :thumbsup2
