This is a tough one and I've been on both sides of the issue. I've been irritated about the scooters rolling up at the last minute with a large family - I think I've actually stood at the bus stop and prayed that no scooters would show up . I've also been with my Mom who requires a scooter and there are 6 of us in addition to her. And yes, I've boarded with her so we could sit together. I'm also a firm believer in standing if there are people who need seats more than we do. I never thought about standing in line and having her wait for the next bus if its crowded. All I'm thinking about is getting on the bus with her. I will say that we all wish she didn't need the darn thing - its a pain and rarely an advantage.

I fell sorry for everyone who has any negative comments. All I can say is "walk a mile in my shoes" sometime and see how you feel.

So your advocating separate but equal. I seem to think that was tries at one point and declared unconstitutional and didn't actually work.

Seriously your on vacation at Disney world. Waiting an extra ten minutes for a bus is the least of my concerns.

So true. Sure it may be frustrating to see a large party get on together, but wouldn't you rather travel as a party than be forced to be split up every time you go to get on a bus? That would be frustrating to the family too.

Just remember there are always two sides to a story and if you haven't been disabled or been with someone who is disabled you don't know what it's like. I can honestly say this because my Dad became paralyzed when I was in college, up until then, other than crutches here or there we never saw the 'other' side. Like have you ever noticed that snow is piled up in handicapped spaces at large shopping complexes? Or that curb cuts very often don't align with a front door to a building so you have to go blocks out of your way? Well, I didn't, but I do now. The handicap already are discriminated against enough unintenionally or not, WDW is one of the best places for them to go because curb cuts align, there are ramps in the minitaure golf holes, and places to plug in batteries without question. My dad felt so free when he was there.

To say to someone and their family you can't get on this bus that happens to have an empty area for your scooter/ecv to lock into place because I'm first in line is just rude. Many times bueses pull up fill and the people in the chairs get passed over and over and over. Like I said I had to stage a strike so that we could get a bus for my dad after waiting over an hour of seeing him denied entry. Another poster said the same thing. So when we were able to get on first, it made up for the 4 other times we waited for 3 buses to go by.

It is fair they can get on first, because if they don't, they never will. And think about it, would you want to split your party up everywhere you went? Loading onto an airplane is one thing, going to a park is another.

Yes, it's tiring waiting an extra 20 minutes in line for a bus, but just realize that person may have waited the same 20 minutes in line earlier in the day.

As the OP originally stated, there are many threads about this subject on the DIS. Several can be found on the disABILITIES! board. Since this isn't really a theme parks attractions and strategies issue, I'm closing this thread here.
