Let the Epcot changes begin! Character meet moves

I am bummed about Club Cool. We had never been and tried to go on our last visit, but they were closed for technical problems.

I can live with that, but if they close Spaceship Earth before our November trip, you all with see a hissy fit meltdown of epic proportions, such as has never before been witnessed on the boards. You have been warned!

I mean I'm sure they need to temporarily close it if everything else around it is being demolished or refurbished. I'm assuming we will likely get a confirmed timeline during D23 in August

HOLEY MOLEY! What tornado moved through Future World yesterday. Devastation every where. Nothing was spared. Change is always hard, but hopefully this will be a step forward. Sorry to see some trusted favorites blown away! pixiedust:

I think they want it all wrapped up by the 40th... Seems like a tight timeline for the sweeping changes. It's surprising how long it's taking to get the monoliths removed, at least on paper it seems like a simple project at the entrance, knock em down, throw up some planters and go to town. The innoventions area is going to be so much a bigger project it's going to take a looong time.

I was looking at a different map and it looks like that big circle building on the concept art (lower left) is supposed to be the new festival center, I guess that makes sense since they don't have the life pavilion any longer and Odyssey's future is always in question.

Also it appears that what will be replacing the fountain of nations is...... wait for it... a beer garden??? I SERIOUSLY hope that is misinformation, that will irk me forever if I know it got wiped out for a beer garden. Just wanted to add, there's so much drinking around the world already, don't know why it needs to be infused into Future World as well.

Epcot is my least favorite park but the entrance music loop is my second favorite (after MS)

I liken Epcot to a shopping mall (an international one) with 2 "rides" in it - I don't count Spaceship Earth, Nemo or Imagination with the title of "ride," even though I guess they are..... I just need to get on Test Track & Soarin' and I'm done.

That said, we go into Epcot for dinners in our favorite restaurants. Kind of sad.

So I am looking forward to all the changes.

It's a half day park at best for the last several years......

So this is starting on the 8th? Are we assuming Baymax will be in his usually location until then? We will be there on sept. 5th

based on the tweet shared above I wouldn't expect a temporary Club Cool - rather they point you to the Coke store at Disney springs where you can get the flight of Coke products from around the work, including Beverly
Oh cool that’s good I wasn’t aware of that. Thanks for the info

I'm excited for the changes and hope the closures won't effect my November trip too much. Hopefully they will still offer the character meet FP.

Do you think there will be a temporary club cool or is it just gone until they re open? I had factored that into my plan for a quick bit of fun in our October trip

I don't expect a temporary Club Cool but if you do want a special soda fix head over to the Coke store at Disney Springs you can get the options there at a charge of course.

The best source for information and ongoing discussion of Epcot construction work is on the Rumors & News board. A few relevant threads:

Yep, anything and everything in those threads! I will continue to update them as we get more info.

When are most of these changes supposed to be completed by?

2022-ish

Baymax should be in his spot until then.

We are going with two newbies to Epcot on September 7. They are only visiting for the weekend. Is it safe to think there wont be too much construction and that it will all happen beginning on Sunday, September 8?

For instance Club Cool and walking through the buildings, MouseGears, etc. will all be up and running?

Thank you.

Change is hard, but let's hope the new design is awesome. I'm thrilled to see the monoliths gone and the sad empty spaces eliminated. That said, I wish they'd keep the fountain show and expand the imbedded sidewalk lights. Little touches that surprise make for fun memories. A beer garden - not so much. Keep the booze in World Showcase.

We love all the parks... I am really glad to see some love shown for Epcot... It will be worth it once everything is finished... I wonder how this will effect Food and Wine, as well as Christmas festivities around the Worldcase....

World Showcase will not see any changes or construction walls from this project. Now getting to WS will be another thing.

You must not keep up with Disney's current construction speed. LOL

I heard the big new ride in Epcot is going to be a Ferris Wheel about the size of your county fair so I think they can get that put up in a year. :)

THIS exactly👆. Those are two of my favorite things. I'm so sad about losing them.
