Am I the only one who does not look forward to the start of school??? I work full time and my kids are in High School. Every stinking morning I have to try and pry their sorry arses out of bed at 6am to make the bus by 7am. Not easy  Then the homework????? Yikes, no thanks...summer can go on forever for me

Yes, this week it's "PARTEEEEEEE". Went to Jewel food store this morning (only a half day today), tomorrow it's balance the checkbook, clean, and doctor's visit by myself. Ye haa!!

This is the sweet time, before homework (projects are coming), class volunteering, and after-school activities are fully rolling. It's such a peaceful time.

This is a really hard year for me because it will be so different. On the one hand, I always love getting back into school because I get so tired of our two summer options - either we are on vacation, just getting back from vacation, just getting ready to go on vacation, or we aren't doing anything and everyone sleeps until noon, expects maid and food service, and whines about needing some form of entertainment. So my "school year" routine is much calmer and lets me get much more done in the day.

On the other hand, I'm taking DD17 to college next week, and only DD12 and I will be here!! So it will take some getting used to!!!! Also, I hate homework and projects, and I'm holding my breath about 7th grade and middle school girls. We had some bad years in elementary school, but it was relatively calm last year, surprisingly. So I always have to see if it's going to be a calm year or a dramatic, tears in carpool kind of year.
Also, I HATE packing school lunches - I went to the grocery store last night, and it all came flooding back to me - the Baggies, the little Tupperware containers, choosing something I thought was surefire and having it come home wasted (and spoiled because it sat out all day and can't be recooled.)

So I'll vote for both - I love summer for a lot of reasons and I love the school year for a lot of other reasons!!!!

i can totaly accept-except for the fact that my youngest is 9 and managed to flip his sleeping schedual such that he slept all day (cool for me to get stuff done-but rotten when he insists that breakfast is at 5, lunch is a midnight and dinner is around 4 am!!!-and he's too short to reach the microwave!!!).

i ended up establishing a household schedual with times for stuff to occur/be accomplished. included in such are the operating times for the in house 'diner'-i know there is going to be allot of 'anarchy' for the first few weeks-but god knows, i will trade the insanity of no sleep during the past couple of months for any homework project the teachers can assign (praise god for the dis and the internet!!!).
