So today the lines were long. I mean longer than usual. First two of the countdown pins were recalled so you had to fill out a form to have them mailed to you, this made the line go ever so slow.
It was hot and it was raining outside which made it super muggy, inside people were dropping like flies. The sad part is when the people dropped; the ones closest to them picked their lanyards clean, so by the time we got to them there was nothing left.
Enter a ray of sunshine Scoop Sanderson Disney Reporter, and super pintrader dude (knows his stuff about pins). Scoop is Disney's official turn of the century reporter, super pin guru dude (The other super traders bow in his presence). Why he has pins on his hat from before I was born, and he holds a pin class on Sundays at 1:00pm (try to catch it when your in town you will not be disappointed).
Normally Disney lets him play with us for a few minutes, but today Scoop knew we were miserable, and the kids were all cranky. So this man stayed with us for what seemed an eternity, he was playing with the kids, playing with the adults, singing, you name it.
I watched Scoop give away several pins to kids that did not have any pins today, one special giveaway was to two girls, one in a wheelchair and her sister, they had no pins and when Scoop gave them each a pin for, as he put it "just because" they both lit up like Christmas trees.
Scoop has several games he plays with the public my favorite is guess the flippin pin, he has a handy dandy little spatula which flips he puts a pin on the bottom then flips it, the people have to guess the pin, if they guess right they get to keep it.
After you win the pin you get the choice to keep the pin you won or play "Feel My Pin". In this game you turn over the pin you just won then reach into a bag and pull out another bag, you then win what's inside that bag.
I know what your thinking. Oh yea Disney rack pins big deal. Well think again kids, why just today in the time he was with us I saw people win the following
Several LE's, including an Atlantis spinner, a light up retired electrical parade pin, a cast member hand in hand pin, and the hit of the show was when a young girl, brand spanking new to pintrading as of yesterday reached in the bag and got, are you ready for this . A red Champion pin. You could hear a pin drop in that room, then it exploded people cheering clapping hootin' and hollerin' it was great. (Of course three people immediately wanted her to trade it.)
Just when you thought it was over the very next kid pulled out a wait it gets better a red Walt Disney World Pintrader pin. Can you believe it?
Then our beloved Scoop gave Darlene her CTT pin this made her year and made her the happiest woman in the park. (She didn't want this to get out but she cried a little yeah it was sweet)
So now that the Pin Float is gone I say go find Scoop you can't miss him everybody knows him, everybody loves him. Ask him to play a pin game with you. And you never know what you will walk away with.
Now let me hear from others out there that know, and have played with Scoop.
