I was at my friend's house the other day and witnessed something I never have before...she was popping popcorn on the stove
I've never done it that way. I've never seen it done this way. So, it made me think...how do you like it? Air-popped? Microwave? Stove? Fireplace?
I grew up with an air-popper, then we moved on to the microwave. I guess I got used to nuking it (but after tasting my friend's popcorn) I'll have to try it on the stove.
She prefers her popcorn popped on the stove in vegetable oil and adds salt & butter. Her husband likes it on the stove in bacon grease and adds salt & butter.

, they cooked it in a big pan on the stove.
Bad idea...bad idea...bad idea...
Okay, okay everyone - I am her friend but she is NOT talking about me and DH
.
That is sooo sweet! My friend also has good memories of popping popcorn this way with her folks. She says the smell just brings back a flood of special family moments.
My dad said it always burned the kernels. Then why did we have it?
