Lessons Learned

When you feel a 'hot spot' (blister starting to form) - bandage it up with a few bandaids (to ensure you are covering a large area on and around that spot.) Next, cover with moleskin - the whole area - I did this for 7 days (on the first day I felt 'hotspots' forming on 2 areas on each foot.) I did not get a blister for the first time ever!! We walked 7 days in the parks, and we walked a LOT!

That being said, the dual layer so-called anti-blister socks did NOT work for me as well as the suffocatingly but highly efficient pure wool sock from Costco.

At the end of the day - your feet will be too hot to do anything with... :furious:

So, you can bring along a cooling foot spray, OR the best thing I found that helped was wetting down 2 facecloths I brought from home, dampen them, and lay them on your feet. Turn as needed.

I also used Avon's cooling foot lotion, and wow, did that help!

Dr. Scholl's heel pain relief shoe insoles are great if your heels hurt. I used the dynastep ones for the whole trip, but I know the heel pain ones are great if that is what you need.

Take the train to get you to the land you need to go to! We have never done that until now.

I can confirm that as of April 30th, the fastpass for Autopia is disconnected from the other fastpasses, so DD and I secured FP for Autopia and Space Mountain, which is literally a hideous ride in our opinion, and we love all rides, turbulent, etc. Something about not being able to see where you were going really made the ride a bad thing for us. Maybe we should youtube the ride to learn the track, and try again? :)

Only you can ruin your vacation. Make the best of every situation.

If someone is busybody-ish enough to make their business to judge you on what you wear, how you look, how you dress your kids, whether your "too old" child rides in a stroller, how large your stroller is or what you carry in your stroller, it is a reflection on them not on you. None of those things are any of their business. Don't let their judgement have any effect on you!

I have always said that I don't care what people think when I wear my fannypack (waistpack) in the park as it frees my hands, holds everything I need, etc... THIS time - I am sure I saw people openly laughing, rotfl, lol, etc. :rotfl2:

I was shocked I felt uncomfortable enough to consider not bringing one the next time we visit - NO ONE else had one on! I wear it in the front side, and it is so awesome to be able to rest an arm on it.

:cool1: I am sure I was THE most cool person there. :moped:

Don't leave your cell phone in the cup holder of the stroller when you fold vituperates hastily to get on the train!!! Luckily someone turned it in and lost and found was awesome!!!

Deodorant sticks work great for anti-chafing when you are wearing shorts on those hot days.

I love the idea about soothing hot feet.

I also take aspirin for those long days.

Also, drink lots of water - keep hydrated. I was at a MouseAdventure and forgot to keep hydrated. I got so sick that afternoon.

One tip I have from our last trip is to take a cheap inflatable foot bath with you and keep it at the hotel, along with Johnson's Foot Soap. Simply dischard the footbath once you leave for home. (You can find these on Amazon or Avon). My brother's feet were so torn up, his heels were even cracked because he over did it! Also, wish we had ponchos handy when it rained! The kids were cold and upset the one day it rained.

My husband wore a fanny pack 2 weeks ago. It didn't bother him in the least!

None of us ended up with any blisters. We each took 2 pair of sneakers and wore them on opposite days to help our feet.

One night when my feet were extra hot, I used some Vicks Vapor cream on them. It seemed to help. I know that is a funny thing to have on hand but I always carry it for the overnight stuffy noses my girls sometimes get when traveling.

This! I worked at H&M and this was also their policy whenever a parent said they couldn't find their child in the store - the theory being that if someone had grabbed your child, they could easily put another shirt or hat on them to disguise the child's identity but would be less likely to have/take the time to change their shoes.

It's how we are trained where I work too (large retail chain), it's part of Code Adam training.

Has anybody worn thongs/flip-flops to Disneyland? I want to wear shorts and don't really want to wear my gym sneaks with shorts! Kinda ugly!

When I'm at Disneyland, I try not to let anything (including fashion) get in my way of enjoying myself as much as possible. I wouldn't say I'm a super fashionable person, but I am conscious of what I look like before I leave the house/hotel. I wear a fanny pack in the parks and totally own it so I don't notice anyone looking at me strangely. Also, there is no way I'd have as much fun as I do if I wore flip-flops. I wear a Disney t-shirt, shorts, socks and trainers every visit since I work way too hard to save money for these trips and spend a lot of time planning. Sometimes we notice people who wear flip-flops in the afternoon and evening limping around or even walking barefoot around the parks and resort! I guess if you can find some really good quality flip-flops that are designed for hiking/walking, that you have "broken in", you may be able to avoid trouble. Good luck and have fun!!!! :flower3:

I am probably one of those rare people that doesn't find tennis shoes all that comfortable. I live in my Teva flip flops and can walk miles and miles in them. I always were flip flops at Disneyland and haven't ever had any problems.

P.S. I also like Havianas brand flip flops too!

I doubt that folks are worried about what kind of shoes others are wearing, or even notice. I wear what is comfortable. I wouldn't war flip flops simply because there are too many opportunities to stub your toes.

I tend to wear normal street shoes, but I'm also only going one day at a time. If I were to go multiple days, like on vacation, I'll wear running shoes. If you don't really like the full shoe experience, you can also wear something like Keens. They're pretty comfortable and they breathe. They also do well on water rides. I don't like the look of Keens, but sometimes it's function over fashion.

...put your kid in the parking lot near the pole with the character/row number and now you know how to find lost children and lost cars!

One thing I just learned was that your parking pass they give you has all the letters and numbers and characters on it. You are supposed to circle where you're at on the ticket and take it with you..

(I had no idea..)

That's a good idea, we use the hot tub (while the girls go for a late night swim) and I've been known to run some hot water in the tub for a quick soak before bed. :)

That's what I do. I need to put some Vick's in my travel bag...in fact, I just put it on my shopping list, Thanks!!

There is NO way I could make it through a day in DL/DCA walking around in flip flops....I wear tennis shoes, I don't care if people think they are ugly, there more people there in tennis shoes then in flip flops or high heels. :) I wear tennis shoes with no show socks, then I don't get weird sock lines if I burn.....lol

I notice sometimes, usually to wonder why someone would wear such impractical shoes to the park. lol Usually tho it's high heels that I think that way about. Altho flip flops are impractical for me, for others they work. My BFF and her DH both wear flip flops while they are at DL.

That's what I posted previously. :)

I wore my Reef flip flops nearly every day for 2 weeks at WDW last September. Super comfy and they mold to your feet so break them in a couple a weeks ahead of time for best comfort.

I don't know if this has been said yet, but it was a real lesson learned last year. Sunscreen has a tendency to smear the ink on tickets and annual passes. They then won't work and you will need to get a new one (which takes a good twenty minutes out of your Disney day!).

Hi...just wondering what particular brand of flip flops they were? Crocs has all kinds of flip flops, some may be better than others.

My daughter wore her crocs (not flip flops) one day when we were at WDW and it was the only time she complained her feet hurt by the end of the day, after that she wore her regular sandals.

I have crocs athens flip flops, I love them and can walk all day in them.
