Lesson learned. Need more days in Disney!!! Aug 2010 (NEW 1/20-COMPLETE)

Hey Blue! :welcome:

It's so great to see you here! I think I've been a lurker on your PTR...

Haha, I love lame jokes and statements :thumbsup2 I'm so glad you're enjoying yourself!

I LOVE my water bobble. At this moment....I've misplaced it...but I hope to locate it in one of the homes I stay in...

I saw them in a local store, but they were charging $15 for a bottle! I bought mine for $10! My family really likes the bobble, which means I'll be making another trip down to your neighbourhood soon! Actually, I'm planning on going at the end of April. I want to buy my mom a Coach bag for her birthday.

Let me know when !!! Also Did you see the replacement filters anywhere ??

It's great to hear your daughter likes anime! Most parents of anime fans don't even really know what it is. I know my mom pretty much nodded and smiled every time I told her I was going to a convention, haha. I'm sure your daughter will really like the exhibit. She'll get to learn about the classics too! There's also a great section in the Mitsukoshi store filled with "How to draw manga" books and artbooks of different anime films such as Totoro and Spirited Away and LOTS of pokemon stuff as well as anime t-shirts!! She's going to go nuts for the stuff, like I was

Thanks, Yuki, for this information...you're right; I've had to educate myself in all things anime! This is good information for me to have while I plan our trip...I had an 8-day trip planned from August 6 - 13th, but last night, I added 4 more days to the trip! :scared1::scared1: I guess I felt like I REALLY wanted us to be able to stop, slow down, and take everything in - like, be able to spend hours in Japan and not do our usual "HURRY UP!" plan! I can't wait to read of your TR - hope you get more photos & funny stories uploaded soon!

Wow, 4 more days!! Be aware that you'll be there during the HOTTEST DAYS of the year, so make sure to wear hats to block the sun from burning one side of your face and drinks lots of water! I love that I get free ice water from the QS places.

For me, 8 days was definitely enough for us to be able to slow down, but 12 days would be even better! That's the one I'm planning for 2013. I hope to get an update out by tomorrow.

Chapter 19. Day 4 pt.4- Hellooooo Capt’n Jack

After our cruise through the jungle and marvelling at the backside of water, it was time to get to the pirate tutorial with Capt’n Jack on the stage right across from PoTC. I have been looking forward to this since I learned I could be a part of it! I mean, I knew I wanted to see Jack and I had HEARD of this pirate tutorial, but I didn’t actually know where and when it took place. I also didn’t know that doing Pirate’s League gave you a better chance to be picked to go up on stage with the Capt’n.

Since Andrew was busy filming me, he wasn’t able to take that many pictures of the whole thing. Here’s the set-up of the stage.
DSC00512.jpg

And here’s Jack coming out towards the audience, with his first mate Mac there to help him recruit us new pirates for his crew.
DSC00513.jpg

Cue swooning.

The whole thing was very cute. I’m sure you could find the whole show they do on youtube somewhere. I’m pretty sure I’m not surprising anyone when I tell you that I was the oldest “kid” on stage. I looked like a giant next to the 7-8 year old boys. One thing I kept thinking was that I should’ve put sunscreen on my feet cause they were BURNING like the fires of heck. Lesson number 11. If I want to wear flip flops to the park on a sunny August day, put sunscreen on my very-exposed foot.

We were all lined up on the stage, and at the beginning of it, while Mac is explaining something, (I don’t remember what but you’ll know why soon) Jack is walking in front of the line, saying hello to us as he walks by. When he gets to me, he looks me in the eyes and mouths “Hello” really softly and winks at me.

OH MY GAWD. Capt’n Jack WINKED AT ME. OH MY GAWD OH MY GAWD OH MY GAWD. All I could say back was, “eheh……” and smile awkwardly back at him cause my brain was melting. Oh dear lawd, I almost fainted, and it WASN’T because of the burning heat of the sun.

So…for you ladies out there also infatuated with the Capt’n, I suggest you make that appointment for Pirate’s League so you can meet Jack up close. It’s unforgettable.

I’m pretty sure Andrew wasn’t very interested in the show cause he only filmed the end of the it when we’re sworn in as crew members of Capt’n Jack’s ship. I still haven’t told him about what happened with Jack. It’ll be our little secret. I still swoon when I think about it.

So after that fun time, we boarded the train towards Toontown to visit Mickey and Minnie’s place. This is something Andrew shot a picture of.
DSC00515.jpg

We had a really nice ride on the train. I had no idea there was so much to look at! It was a very nice and cool ride. Definitely not my last time on it.

Visiting Toontown was high on my list because of its impending doom in the coming months. Actually, is it already closed? I loved it on my first trip there but didn’t get to see much of it. This time, I wrote down a list of all the stuff I could do in Minnie’s house and paid attention to the names of the books in Mickey’s garage.

Andrew took a lot of pictures. shi-tsu-re-shimasu! (It means “sorry for the intrusion” in Japanese. It’s what you say when you first enter someone else’s home. Yes, I actually said that before going in)
DSC00517.jpg

Huh, I guess the Asian “v” sign shows up more than I remember.
DSC00519.jpg

I dunno why, but I’m intrigued yet creeped out by that fish.
DSC00520.jpg

We loved that the scoreboard showed Donald at “0”. Poor duck just isn’t good at table tennis.
DSC00523.jpg

I want to BUY this checker set. I’m sure it exists somewhere.
DSC00524.jpg

MMMmmm, Mickey tomatoes!
DSC00526.jpg

Wow, this place is such a mess. Didn’t Mickey know he’d be getting visitors?
DSC00527.jpg

Andrew the engineer had to take a picture of this. He didn’t really explain to me WHY.
DSC00528.jpg

I’m pretty sure Pluto’s outgrown this little house by now.
DSC00529.jpg

Nope, not heading there.
DSC00530.jpg

Um…..why was Mickey undressing in public?
DSC00531.jpg

These next ones make me want to watch Rango. Has anyone seen it yet?
DSC00532.jpg

DSC00533.jpg

DSC00534.jpg

Where do you even BEGIN growing cacti to look like this?

Giant Mickey pumpkin!!!
DSC00535.jpg

Before moving onto Minnie’s place, I stopped to buy a MUCH NEEDED frozen lemonade while Andrew got me another pressed penny. Ahhhh, it was so refreshing. The water in our own bottles had already become lukewarm…yuck.
I didn’t want to be rude at Minnie’s place, but I just crashed on her couch.
DSC00537.jpg

It was too full to go any further than her living room, so we decided to just head to Tomorrowland for a few more attractions before taking our afternoon break back at Pop. Before my trip, Jordy (jordanyosh) suggested that I take a break during the day because I was going to be back for eve EMH anyways. I wasn’t sure if I were really going to do it, but today was a scorcher.

Still, I would prefer this heat to the weather I get up here…I’ve always liked it hot.

So it was good bye to Toontown, for now.
DSC00539.jpg

We got to the Carousel of Progress right as they were starting the next show! Hooray for pixie dust. The theater was nice and cool and I forgot how comfy the seats were. This is definitely one of my favourite attractions at WDW. I love the show and how sweet and cute it is and that song is infectious. It never fails to put me in a good mood when I hear that song. I just love this show.

I’m not sure what Andrew thought of it but I know he enjoyed the AC. We wanted to go on the TTC next, but were really itching to get back to Pop, so we decided we could put it off for when we came back. I wanted to get onto the rides that weren’t open during eve EMH, so we got in line for Monster’s Inc.

I really like the queue for this place. Really feels like you’re in the monster world and there are posters everywhere telling people to text in their jokes. I couldn’t think of anything PG to send in at the time, so refrained from that. The room before they let us into the theatre is really cute too.

I didn’t get a picture of the corkboard, but tried getting a bottle of primordial OOZE, but the darn button was stuck! I should demand my change back.
DSC00540.jpg

It was a very funny show and I love that they pick on this one guy over and over. Hilarious fun and I can’t wait to do it again. My favourite part was when one of the monsters said there was a 2-headed human in the audience and they showed a picture of a dad holding his baby in his arms. It was so cute!! I’m surprised that I didn’t get picked on, with my make-up on and everything. Maybe I didn’t stand out that much?

So, after that, we hoofed it over to the bus stop and sat there, waiting for out bus to show up. My beard was getting really itchy by then so I took out my wet naps and wiped the bottom part off.
DSC00545.jpg

Now I just had a moustache!

Coming up next: Can we last until 3am? And my first DISmeet!

Whooo!!! New update!! I hope you're feeling better now :)

Gaaaghjndhyiunk...Captain Jack. All the intelligence just went out of my head. I HAVE to do Pirates' League in September. HAVE TO. Must. (Now I'm babbling, I'll stop, lol.)

Aww, Toontown :( It makes me so sad to see it now gone, but I have pictures of everything. And all the new stuff is gonna be so fun once it gets done :cool1: I wish I could just go through Minnie's House one more time...looks like I'll just have to start planning a trip to Disneyland! PS: I just saw Rango. It's pretty good...and quite cute!! Johnny Depp as a lizard seems to work.

Oh, I can't wait to hear about the DisMeet!! I want to be a part of a DisMeet so bad I can't stand it. And staying til 3am? Yeesh...that's a lot of Extra Magic! Can't wait to hear how you did it, lol. On my next trip, the same day we drive in MK is open til 1am...so you know what that means. After being in a car for 9 hours, we're gonna stretch our legs while running to PotC :yay:

Can't wait to hear more!!!

We learned our lesson about sunscreening the tops of our feet too -- we always harp at the kids to make sure they don't miss sunscreening. It can be unbearable if you get a sunburn there; you can't even walk.

Swooning over Jack...you're too funny.

Must be nice to be able to shave with a wet-nap.

OMG...if Captain Jack ever winked at me, I would seriously swoon. Yes I would. I was in MK last November, and I happened to catch a little of the Pirate Show, and I remember being seriously impressed on what a DEAD RINGER Captain Jack is with the "movie" Captain Jack. I could hardly tell a difference - if there WAS one! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

I think it's pretty awesome that you went up on stage - and who cares if you were the oldest kid on the stage - when it comes to WDW, we're all kids at heart, right?! Heck, I'll be 49 years old when we go in August, and now you've got ME thinking about doing the Pirate thingy!

And...we've never done the Carousel of Progress...hate to admit that, as I've been to WDW numerous times, but I always "forget" about it back there, all tucked away. Well, you had me at "comfy seats" and "a/c" - so it's now been put into our Touring Plans (huh? What touring plans?!)

Monsters, Inc is one of our favorite attractions...I always have jokes ahead of time ready to go (yes, I cheat) and they've actually used them once or twice. I try to get Disney-themed jokes, such as, "Why is Cinderella never picked for a soccer team?" ....because "she always runs away from the ball." Hee.

Great update - looking forward to more!

Feeling much better now, thanks!

Oh, you must make that appt. It shouldn't be hard because they were still accepting walk-ups when I went.

Yeah....I regret not taking more pictures. I also wanted to ride the Barnstormer cause I've never done that, but the line was too long.

I'm so watching Rango.

Haha, stretching your legs at MK sounds like a great idea!!! Maybe you still have time to organize a dismeet!

OH yeah.....my toes got burnt a little and it was very unpleasant to walk around with burnt toes.

The thing about Jack is...I only started swooning during the 3rd movie. In one of the scenes, something clicked and I was suddenly all over the guy.

It was nice! Actually, there's a funnt little thing at College Humour right now where they have different ways to shave. You should check it out.

OH yes....much swooning was done. Tried not to show too much cause Andrew can be the jealous type. The CM was a great actor. Did VERY well. Gosh, I'm swooning at the memory.

Well, I couldn't pass up a chance to meet the Capt'n! And besides, by now you should know I LOVE the attention. There was a 5 year old standing next to me and I would help him like showing him which arm to put up and stuff. SO CUTE.

The Carousel of Progress don't NEED any planning. It's never going to have a long line and will never be too crowded or full. It's a great place for a break.

HAHAHAH, I love your Cinderella jokes! I should come up with jokes before my next trip too!! We got jokes like, "why was 6 afraid of 7? because 7 ate 9!" It used to be funny...and it may still be now, but most of the audience didn't laugh.

YAY! A new update! :woohoo:

Captain Jack winked at you??? *swoon* And also, I am jealous. Way jealous.

MY GIANT MICKEY PUMPKINS. I'm probably going to cry when I show up in July and they aren't there. Taking pictures there was our family tradition. And now they've probably been smashed to pieces. :sad1:

Great, now I've got "There's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" stuck in my head. Man has a dream and that's the start. He follows his dream with mind and heart. And when it becomes a reaaaaality it's a dream come true for you and me...

Thanks a lot, Yuki. :rotfl:

I love the Monsters Inc. show! I actually have some great stories from it that'll show up in my TR sometime soon. :thumbsup2

Yeah.....be jealous :upsidedow

I KNOW they're your pumpkins! I remember thinking they were your pumpkins when I saw them. I wish my family had cool photos like that. Maybe use them for MNSSHP?

Cause it's a great big beautiful tomorrooooow. Shining at the end of every daaaay. Yes, it's a great big beauuuuuutiful tomorroooow. Just a dream away!

I love that song :cool1:

I can't wait to hear about monster's Inc!

I see Target sells them and they were 6.99

Ooooh, Target! I'll definitely have to make a trip there too! I wonder why Jen and I didn't on my last trip...

Ahhh lucky girl, having Captain Jack wink at you! He's so flirtatious LOL.

You got so many good photos in Toontown! I seriously need to have that checker set, it's so cute!

Montreal-Pt.1 (no pictures yet)

No fancy titles because it's just a mini-TR.

During my spring break back in February, Andrew and I took a trip that I have been wanting to go on since we first started dating. Was I thinking too far into the future? Perhaps. But I digress.

For those not so familiar with the city, Montreal is one of the 3 largest cities in Canada, along with Toronto :cool1: and Vancouver :thumbsup2. It's about 6 hours away from Toronto. It's also considered one of the most beautiful cities in Canada. It is part of the Quebec province, which is the only fully French-speaking province in Canada.

This was definitely NOT my first trip to Montreal or into this province. I've come here many times and passed through it a couple of times. We have family friends that live in the city, so I'm not stranger to it. But I might as well be.

Every time we visited, the only places we ever went was to Chinatown and the Basilica. The Basilica is this famous Catholic church on top of a hill in Montreal and it's gorgeous. Coming from a Catholic family, we always manage to go to mass there. They have some pretty cool stuff there and it's very pretty, but in the end....it's just another church to me.

The thing about Montreal that makes it different from the other cities in Quebec is that most of the people there can speak English fluently! I've always been assured that I would never have any speaking problems. Someone should have said something about most of the signs in the city being IN FRENCH.

Alright, let's move onto the report! Our trip was from Sat, Feb 19th-Mon, Feb 21st. It was just a short weekend trip and we wanted to take advantage of Family Day, the newest holiday on the Ontario calendar. Turns out, didn't make a difference. We took the bus from Downtown Toronto into Montreal City. Estimated length of travel: 7 GLORIOUS hours of neck cramping and back pains.

This was a pretty last minute trip for me. I got everything planned and booked and organized within a month of our trip! I think I did pretty well if I do say so myself. Thank goodness for the free wifi in our hotel room though. You'll find out why soon.

Our day started on the Friday. I drove into Toronto from Waterloo and went straight to Andrew's place to park under his apartment. My apartment's concierge person is only there after 10pm, the parking is outside and if I forget to get a parking pass, the city gives me a parking ticket...I just didn't want to deal with that. Andrew's concierge KNOWS me, so it's all good.

Before I left for Toronto, I had no time to really pack for my week off, so I stuffed a bunch of things in a bunch of bags, and just dumped them in my car. Andrew was still at work, so I just took my time sorting out everything. My shoulder-bag for the trip, our carry-on duffle for the bus ride, and the stuff for the rest of the week.

That night, I got my nails done (my first manicure!) and met up with my siblings for dinner near Andrew's place. Thank goodness my baby brother has his license. After fooding, we all went up to Andrew's apartment and spent the night hanging out, playing on his Wii.

We played until around midnight and came up with the great idea to NOT SLEEP. We were taking the 7:30am bus and I had planned for us to wake up at 5:30am anyways. We weren't very tired at midnight, so instead of going to sleep for 4 hours, why not just stay up? We would be sleeping on the bus anyways.

So we proceeded to game into the night. By 2am, I couldn't take it anymore and went to sleep. My siblings and Andrew continued to game until 5am when my sibs finally headed home. I woke up when I heard them leaving to say goodbye to them. Andrew has been up all night! I made us some coffee, made sure we had everything we needed and headed out into the dark morning.

To avoid the terrible mishap of what happened the LAST time I was at Andrew's place in the early morning, trying to access the subway, I checked to make sure it would be running by the time we got down there.

Well...it was running. Sort of...

TO BE CONTINUED *dun dun duuuuuuuun*

Ahhh lucky girl, having Captain Jack wink at you! He's so flirtatious LOL.

You got so many good photos in Toontown! I seriously need to have that checker set, it's so cute!

I know, I was so lucky!

Haha, we got a lot of pictures of Mickey's house, but hardly any of Minnie's.

And yeah, that checker set is adorable! A friend of mine got me a Princess checker set that's pretty cute too, but not as cute as this one.

Can't wait to hear about your Montreal trip! The only memories I have from my one trip are a blur of drunken flashes. I'm not being sarcastic. I blacked out and woke up in a strange hotel suite my friends had taken me when we left the club. I had no idea where I was, thought I was in someone's apartment! I would love to go back someday as a tourist and really see the city.

Haha, what an adventure that must've been! Yeah, you have to go back. It's gorgeous.

Have another visit and make it longer.

Huh?
