Lesson learned. Need more days in Disney!!! Aug 2010 (NEW 1/20-COMPLETE)

All this talk of food is making me hungry.

So far this day sound very relaxing. Too bad Andrew can't apprieciate all the shopping oppurtunities offered at Dtd, but at least he can apprieciate the food.

Just looking at those sandwiches are making me wish I were there right now. Andrew STILL talks about it!

Yeah, Andrew's never been a fan of shopping. He usually spends his time on the "man chair" when we go to malls. That's what he calls the benches outside of stores and in front of dressing rooms.

Though he DOES look like a kid in a candy store whenever we go into an electronics or gaming place.

Looking forward to yoru next updates. I think we're going to do the same thing for DHS in March - one night just for dinner (MM's) and Fantasmic, maybe 1 ride thrown in there. And another morning for RD - primarily for TSM!

Big Earl fans here, too!!

"I see blue people" just doesn't have the same ring to it.

How about...attack of the smurfs? Avatar strikes back?

Ok, I'll stop. It's a past report anyways.

Hey Sandy! Yeah, that sounds like a good idea. I was able to throw in a couple of rides on ToT because there were 2 shows and we stayed for the 2nd one.

I think there needs to be an Earl in Canada. Once again, it's one of the things we're deprived of!

I would definately say that Andrew enjoyed his sandwich !!I had the same sandwich before !!I was trying to use up my cs credits the day I left and I had 3 left so I got sandwiches from EOS and WPE so as you can imagine I did not finish anything:rotfl2:
I also was gonna say the puddle is the Jets for the kids ( young or old) but everyone beat me to it !!;)

By the way how is January 15th for you???????

He really struggled to swallow the sandwich cause it was THAT good.

Haha, you tried to finish all 3 CS credits at once??? :rotfl2: Oh Rosie, you crack me up.

Jan 15th is looking good for me.

But after seeing Andrew's expression when he tried that sammie, I might have to make a special trip down there!!
What was in his sandwich?

You should definitely make a stop there next time.

Here's the description from Allears.

The Full Montagu - roast beef and turkey with cheddar and Swiss cheese, romaine lettuce, tomato and Earl's mustard

The mustard was excellent. It doesn't sound that special but man....the whole combination...with the bread.....incredible.

Again.....I had a whole update going......so close to finishing it.....and for a reason unknown, I deleted it accidentally.

:headache:

I'll try to redo this by tonight.....

Aww no! That sucks :headache: I've had my browser close on me when I'm in the middle of typing long FB messages. So now I write them in MS word first because it was happening way too often!

Haha, my sister still talks about EoS too. She had the same reaction Andrew did to her sandwich

I have it marked to request OFF !!Should be No problem as it's a Saturday and I know they wont stick me with any meetings :scared1::rotfl2:

Yuki I couldn't let 3 cs go to waste !! I had to try !!! :lmao:

All caught up! Sorry the F&W was disappointing - raw oysters and a pile of Sh&*(^ pretty bad! :rotfl2:

We loved EOS when we ate there, and haven't made it back. I'm glad Andrew fell in love with Disney. Who would've thunk? :confused3

I love the old cell phone pic! My first one was the big grey one in the middle. Weighed about 5 lbs in my purse and was for emergencies!

We took our grandbabies to Tangled over Thanksgiving - we all really liked it! The kids laughed at the jokes I didn't even think they'd get!:rotfl: Then they played "Tangled" with Papa the next day - locked us out of the playroom and we had to say the password, to which they would say, "not even close!" :rotfl2: It became our favorite family line for the weekend!

Looking forward to more!

Yeah, this has happened about 3 times now. I need to start writing them somewhere else. It never happens at the beginning of the post either. Always happens after you've written TONS.

Haha, glad your sister loved it too! Everytime I bring it up to Andrew, he drools.

Yeah...that ice cream looked REALLY bad. But the oysters were yum.

Of all the things in Disney, it's the Earl. In fact, it's his favourite place to eat so far!

I'm so glad you loved Tangled! It's such a great new classic!

Haha, that old man in the diapers. That's adorable that they play Tangled with you.

He was initially not so keen on this trip. It was all really my idea. He didn't give me much to work with when I planned it, so I tried my best to keep him in mind in my plans.

Luckily for me, he really enjoyed himself!

I took this quote from your second post - it made me think of my DBF. It will be his first time when we go in August and he isn't really a Disney person and doesn't get overly excited about things but I want him to be excited for Disney! Since you said your bf wasn't so keen at first, were you surprised by how much he enjoyed himself at Disney? I'm really hoping my BF surprises both me and himself with how much fun he'll have! It's a little frustrating that I'm so excited and he's not. Any words of advice for me? :confused3

Mmmm......,. I want EoS!!! We're gonna get there next trip, no one's stopping me this time!!!

:sad2: about the update. Same things been happening on my TR lately, so I know how much it sucks. Always copy and paste to a word document before hitting submit!

I need to just write my update in word....

YES! EoS! Go there even if your family isn't interested. You can meet up with them somewhere else.

Just checking in Yuki !!Is looking really good for the 15th of January!!!!

Hey Rosie! I'm looking forward to it!

Heather, you are in the exact same boat I was in before my trip. I was super excited about everything, and would often tell him about my plans, but he really wasn't that interested. He's also not much of a Disney fan and hasn't been back to WDW since he was a little kid, and he barely remembers THAT trip.

I say try to plan the trip around him also. Maybe tell him about Hidden Mickey's and how it's like a scavenger hunt when you're in line. See if he's interested in that. When you go shopping, allow him to go off on his own and do his thing if he's not interested. No reason to keep him bored and following you around.

You know what he's actually interested in, so make it a point to point those things out. As a computer engineer, Andrew is very interested in programming, which is why Turtle Talk with Crush really blew his mind because he understood how complicated the programming must be. I also knew that he would not like to wake up EVERY DAY at 7am to get to a park at rope drop. So I planned plenty of days where we can sleep in and just relax or go around the resorts.

If he's into sports, maybe plan a lunch or dinner at the ESPN zone at the Boardwalk so he can catch a game.

If he's not into planning and prefer not to have to decide stuff, it's best to have an itinerary. You don't have to stick right to it, but you at least can answer the question "What next?" instead of saying, "I dunno, what do you want to do?".

I also know Andrew likes to drink, so I did my research on what the DIS recommends and had those in mind to recommend him, so we didn't have to spend time deciding if we wanted to try something. Get to know the menus of the restaurants in the parks, so you know what they're serving before you get into the lines.

If you plan to resort hop, get to know the transportation system and how they work, so you don't get stalled somewhere or even lost!

Since I'm sure you plan to souvenir shop, write down a list of what you're interested in getting, kind of like a shopping list. So all the merchandise doesn't distract you and you don't spend hours going through the shops just to "see what I might like". That'll cut down on browsing time and give you more time to just enjoy the parks.

I think what surprised me most with Andrew is the effort he put into enjoying himself. He really made an effort to appreciate what I appreciated and took the time to get to like the things that I liked, even if he wasn't sure about it before. He also really loved how prepared I was, that I knew exactly where we were going and that we had a plan. He's the indecisive type, so for me to lead the way was very good for him.

I think in the end, I wasn't super surprised. I was always worried he wouldn't have a good time in the parks, because he just wasn't interested, but he always reassured me that as long as I was having a good time, he would too. Instead of getting frustrated with your DBF, don't talk so much about your trip if he looks like he's getting annoyed by it. If you make ADRs, run it by him to make sure he's not against it, but otherwise, just keep him in mind with your plans. The DIS is here to share all your plans with, so you have US to talk to and be excited with. That's really what I learned from my planning.

If you need any more help, please just ask!

Yes, Epic Mickey is a number. Not sure which one though...

SOOOO, Andrew recently bought a Nintendo Wii! As a gift for himself for getting a REAL GROWN UP ADULT JOB WITH AN ANNUAL SALARY AND EVERYTHING. Well, more like, that's one of the things he bought with his first pay check.

He was on the fence about whether to get a PS3 or a Wii, but seeing Epic Mickey's game play and hearing about the details of the game since it was announced back at E3, that pretty much sold the Wii. Honest to goodness, I wanted a Wii just to play that game.

So, it was released just last week and we already have it and have been playing it!

For those of you planning to get it, I'm sure you'll love it. But I just have a few things to say about it.

I don't recommend this game to young children. I mean, young children shouldn't really be playing much video games anyways, but I don't recommend for kids under 8. Why's that? The creepiness level is HIGH in this game. I don't want to spoil it but if you just look into it, this game is pretty grim. I also never ever want to go on "it's a small world" ever again. I think I might get nightmares if I do. Both Andrew and I agree that this game is REALLY CREEPY. We both get pretty creeped out playing the game. Seriously....think hard about what your kid can stomache before getting this game.

It's not a game for newbie gamers. I don't recommend it for someone who has never played this sort of game, or used the Wii controls. Andrew's a typical gamer and has played the Wii many times before, but even HE had trouble with the controls. This is the one complaint in reviews, the controls aren't the best, so kids may get frustrated if they get stuck somewhere. Heck, -I- got frustrated, and I wasn't even playing! (I've bascially been watching Andrew play, I doubt I could make the jumps).

On the upside, this is a great game for those who have been to the parks. Even if you haven't been Disneyland, it's pretty much like Magic Kingdom at WDW. Also a great game for fans of Disney's earlier cartoons. You'll see a lot of old characters pop up.

And honestly, there are many really cute things about the game, but I guess it really depends on what you find cute.

If you're a Hidden Mickey's fan? Then THIS IS THE GAME FOR YOU. Apparently, I've turned Andrew into a big fan because he keeps pointing them out to me! Which is definitely very cool that they were included in the game.

My boyfriend, the not-a-fan-of-Disney, really enjoys this game. He even puts on his Mickey hat from WDW when playing it! He says, "It just feels appropriate."

I just wanted to share with y'all what he said two nights ago when we were playing. We had reached one of the areas of the game called Ostown. Now, every area in "Wasteland" correlates to a place in Disneyland. By this point we are well aware of the other title character in the game, because we were basically chasing him around. So...the convo goes as follows.

Me:Oh, it's Ostown, like Toontown (when we arrived there and looked around the place)
Him:Ostown?
Me: Yeah, like Toontown
Him: But why is it Os?
Me: Because of Oswald.....?
Him: Ohhh.....

That was obviously a brainfart moment.

Speaking of Oswald, Andrew and I have become huge fans of the old black and white Disney cartoons after watching them in the Contemporary's lobby. Does anybody know where we might be able to get them?

Ok, up next, an update for sures.
