I understand that the meatloaf, pot roast and fried chicken are okay...is everything else awful?

I am thinking DH might order Char-grilled Butcher Tender Steak and I thought about Cousin Barry's Olive Oil Poached Salmon

Are these both awful? Maybe one of us will go ahead and get the fried chicken, just to have something to eat

I think most people just stick with the meatloaf, pot roast, and fried chicken as a play off of the restaurant theme. I personally would wait for steak/salmon at another, finer restaurant.

Anyone every tried those plates?

** Remember to eat your veggies **

I ususally get the chicken pot pie. It is real comfort food for me. DH gets the meat loaf or pot roast. That's why we go, for comfort food of our childhood:happytv: We prefer our steak and fish as places that specialize in beef and fish.

I would love to know how the crab cakes are or the seafood salad app.

When we went I had the fried chicken..I was not that impressed but the whole feel of the place made up for it....I had the s'mores and I absolutely loved it...The kids (older teens) loved the cherry limeades they still talk about those....:rolleyes1

We love 50sPTC and always wait for a good ribbing. A few years back our party of 4 adults placed our order with Mark, one of our favorite CMs there. Our order was varied with a few lighter options like sandwiches. Mark said, “You are at Mom's table, and you’ll eat what she brings you,” and proceeded to bring us four plates of fried chicken, and he was serious that we should eat it! :scared1: We were laughing so hard, and having such a good time playing along, that we did as told. It was one of our best CM interactions at 50sPTC. And good chicken too.

As we usually go for lunch, the Chicken Pot Pie, Meatloaf and the Big Sandwiches are our usual picks...if “Mom” lets us!

50's is a hilarious place to be. SOOOO FUNNY how the CM's pick on you. My DS10 had a blast watching the CM remind me to keep my elbows off the table. Also, since my son didnt finish his veggies, she fed it to him! HAHA!
As for the food, well thats a different story. We both had the fried chicken and to be honest, it was quite salty. I wasnt a big fan. Even the family next to us had complained of the same thing. Shouldve got the meat loaf. :confused3

The steak isn't bad at all. I've never tried the salmon. My favorite thing on their menu though is the grilled tuna casserole. Sooooo good. It's really more like a pasta dish with a grilled tuna steak on top. I've never once had the meatloaf or fried chicken, although the pot pie and pot roast are both good. The seafood salad app is good, but I've never tried the crab cakes. I actually think the food quality has gotten better at 50's the last few years. I've been pleasantly surprised on my last two trips.

I am guilty of ordering the meatloaf everytime. If you have not tried it yet, the strawberry milkshake is absolutely awesome!

I always get their chicken pot pie. It's very satisfying.

Another fan of the chicken pot pie. However, I only see it on the lunch menu, which is one reason why I've only gone at lunchtime. Anyone been able to get it for dinner?

If you are going there for lunch one my favorite item is their Fish Sandwich which I thought was very good and is only available on their lunch menu, so you can't order it off their dinner menu.

I had cousin somebodys chicken sandwich and it was wonderful and HUGE, I got scolded for picking apart my food. (I just finished the chicken, I couldn't eat all that bread too). Then we had a brownie under sundae.... OMG, we still talk about that. I have a couple of pictures of it... I drool everytime I see it.
I will definately go back here next time.
Oh, hubby got pot roast, cousin got chicken pot pie... all said they were great!

We've eaten there twice. The first time was for dinner, and my DH had the pot roast, and I had the fried chicken. Both were very good. The next time, we tried lunch and were not impressed. DH had the meatloaf, and he said it was very dry. I had the fish sandwich, and it reminded me of the fish you can get at ABC Commissary that had been slapped on a roll. Blech!

As a young teen, I got the chicken pot pie once. I didn't eat cooked carrots at the time so I picked them out and put them on my plate. I didn't think anything of it, but the CM who had been "picking" on me all meal (elbows on the table, etc) made me stand up in front of the restaurant and had everyone point their fingers at me and say "Shame, shame, shame".

I eat cooked carrots now.

On our last visit, I asked the server, which he would recommend, the Chicken Pot Pie or the Pot Roast? He answered, "You'll know when I bring it to you.":lmao: I turned out to be the pot roast.

I would love to know how the crab cakes are or the seafood salad app.

I didn't care for the crab cakes last year, but had the seafood salad when I was there in Dec and was surprised to find it was really good. I go there for their peanut butter/jelly milkshakes and usually order the fried chicken. My mom likes their chicken pot pie though.

When I was there in Dec I had an ADR for the Brown Derby for which I tried to get in early for. They couldn't accomodate me, so I walked over to 50's Prime Time and asked if there was any chance I could get a table as a walk up and if not, was there any chance I could get a meal at the bar. I was shocked to be seated at a table for two with only a short wait. This was right at opening though.

Over the years we have ordered the meatloaf, pork loin, chicken pot pie, fried chicken, pot roast and the salmon. While the food is OK, the fun begins if you get a great server. The cousin you get can make or break your visit.
