Lesli's Live Long and Strong WISH Journal

Ok, time to get back to losing some more of this weight. I know I am behind where I had hoped to be by this time, but I have come to terms with that and it is ok. So the next thing I need is to just keep moving forward and that means using all the things that I know to work for me.

Breakfast today: 1 egg omelet w/mushrooms & moz (I love this combo), 1 c. milk, 1 banana

So far so good! Off to a great start. The rest of the day won't be so easy with the reunion, but I will work it out.

AM snack: yogurt (grab quickly before we leave so that I don't overeat later)
Lunch: ???? They are serving at 1pm and I will practice portion control and balance as much as possible. For the most part, I will probably choose foods that I normally don't get much and leave those that I can get anytime.
PM snack: probably won't have
Supper: something light like a salad or BLT's

Goals for the day:
1. make a dessert that isn't chocolate
2. Hide the thin mints
3. Find a way to exercise
4. Eat sensibly at the reunion
5. Post some progress reports later tonight

Better get going, I need to bake something real quick and get ready to leave.

Everyone have a great day! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Time to banish the Thin Mints! You could even turn the tables and give them to DS2 and have him hide them from you! Of course I see the inevitable end to that being a big chocolaty puddle somewhere, so maybe not...

I hope you have lots of fun at the reunion today. I'm sure there will be plenty of yummy things to choose from and you'll enjoy sampling little bits of the truly special ones.

I'm glad to hear DD had a good time at the dance and seemed to abide by the rules. You cracked me up with you comment about people being eager to rat them out! I can imagine there's very little they can get away with in a small town and mom and dad at the store!! :teeth:

Have a wonderful day! :flower:

:rotfl: I always got ratted out by my parents' friends also. My dad was a professor, so they couldn't wait to tell him what I had done. :rotfl: ...it takes a Village, I guess.

Have fun at the reunion today!!! :)

Hi Lesli,

Glad to hear that DD had fun at the dance! Hope that you don't hear any stories from anyone else after!!! hehe

I am with you on needing to plan! I hope that you can stay on track with that because it seems to be a great key to your success! :)

I hope that you have a good time at the reunion and if you need somewhere to hide the thin mints I have cupboard space!! (No I don't! Yes I do! No I don't! :rotfl: )

Have a great day!

Yesterday went pretty well. The reunion was too long but alright and I found that there are a few more cousins living in my back yard almost. Then I was made Vice Pres for next years reunion, which means Pres in two years. Oh joy.........DH almost got mad, thinking that I volunteered for one more thing. Nope, someone elected me and actually I was sitting there with my mouth shut. See these things find me even when I don't want them to.

I missed my AM snack since I was trying to get some pics printed and my printer decided to be out of the red toner. So fun. But I still did well for lunch. It probably helped that there were only 3 desserts and alot of deli salads and KFC. I ate 1/2c. chicken noodles (very good), 3 bites scalloped corn, 1/3 c. pasta like lazanga, 1 sm chicken leg (DD7 changed her mind on), 2 tomato slices, 1 gr pepper slices, 2 bites apple salad, 1 bite DS's brownie, and 1/4 c. spinach salad w/poppyseed dressing (it was fantastic). Considering what was there, I did really well.

Of course, then DH treated everyone to DQ afterwards. I ordered a small cone, but I think it was a large. We ordered a cone in a cup for DS and it was so much ice cream that next time, I will split his and eat what is in the cup while he eats the cone. Oh yeah, I had too many bites of DD7's Oreo Blizzard becuase they overflowed it and it was about to melt all over, so I had to eat some of it down for her. Not what I had in mind. Had 1 bite of peach cobbler when I got home, it was alright. Supper was steak and salad. DH has been on a big steak kick lately. I think I ate only one Thin Mint all day.

Didn't get much in for exercise unless you count crawling in and out of picnic tables and I was too tired to do my progress reports, but the rest of the day was good.

Breakfast: 1 egg omelet w/ mushrooms & moz, yogurt, 1/2 slice 7 grain toast w/ jelly
AM snack: try to find a veggie
Lunch: tuna wrap
PM snack: banana smoothie
Supper: soup (we need to make appearances at a soup supper tonight since the Parents Club did a lot of business w/us, I really hope it tastes better than last year)

Goals for day:
1. Bookwork
2. 30 min toning
3. 30 min GS
4. 30 min putting part of my office back together

Tonight is open house, so that will take up a good portion of the evening.

Better get going. Everyone have a good day! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Oy, there's nothing worse than bad soup...OK, sure, there are a lot of things worse, but it's pretty hard to screw up soup. Anyway, hope it's tasty!

Congrats on your nomination! People always recognize someone who actually gets things done...think of it as a complement...or curse ;)

Good goals for the day; reasonable, doable. Have a good week! :)

GAH! I agree with Christin--there really is nothing worse than bad soup! Crossing my fingers for you there!

Glad to hear the reunion was fun and I thing you did a great job! The one benefit of being in a planning role next year is that you may be able to arrange for lots of healthy treats!

I hope you have a great day today!!! :flower:

Hi Lesli!!

Glad that the reunion was fun! Isn't it funny how even when we try to not sign up to do anything else these opportunities find us? hehe!
Hope that the soup wasn't too bad tonight! And I do want to wish you and the Blue Team luck tomorrow, just don't tell any of the Red Team I did! heheh!

Have a happy & healthy Tuesday!

Yesterday was pretty good. I did manage to get quite a few things done, even though it took almost half the day to "wake up". For some reason, I just couldn't get going and just wanted to curl up and take a nap.

It killed me to spend only 30 minutes on a project rather than just doing it all at once, but I knew that I didn't have any looming deadlines on some projects and just did what needed to be done so that I could focus on bookwork. I know I can do this.

Food went pretty well for the most part, with a few slips. All food was on plan except the snacks. AM snack was a few bits of spinach salad (the only veggies we had), PM snack was 3 cookies. :rolleyes1 Supper was a bowl of chili, it was alright. Then I had a cookie there as well. Since we ate so early, I was hungry about 9pm and had a bowl of Kix cereal. Water was excellent.

Still need to work on my exercise goals. What is new? I did see 189.5 onthe scale this morning, but when I double checked, it didn't go that low again. Maybe tomorrow.

Breakfast: oatmeal, 1 1/2 slices ham
AM snack: yogurt
Lunch: salad w/tuna
PM snack: fruit & milk
Supper: broccoli & chicken ring, salad

Goals for day:
1. 15 min dance during morning and afternoon break
2. bookwork
3. 1 hr or less of GS
4. bills
5. 20 min quick spruce of living room and dining room

Time to get going. I have a few things to get done before the dentist appointment (stage two of whitening).

Everyone have a great day! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Yesterday was just a groggy day. It took a long while for me to get going as well. I chalked it up to the thunderstorms and the clouds that stayed over us for a while.

It sounds like you were able to stick closer to your schedule, which is great! Also glad to hear last night's supper wasn't totally hideous!

I hope you have an awesome day today!!! :flower:

I did it! I finally did it! The scale is on the other side of the half. Finally, I have lost more than I have yet to lose! :cool1: It was at 189. I thought I still had sleep in my eyes and I think I weighed 4 times, but it still stayed the same. WOW. It just goes to show that you need to stick with it, stay strong, and do what you know works.

Water was almost good, food was really good, and exercise? I really did try to get that in, but I had so many phone calls and DH needing so many things that I ended up doing alot of errands and bookwork. Coulnd't really stop in between bookwork since I had to get it out the door quick. But, the good news is that I was constantly moving and actually got a lot of stuff done.

AM snack was missed since I was at the dentist. Lunch was a little late and I was in a hurry, so I just went for a tuna wrap and skipped the salad portion. PM snack........I thought I had something, but the more I think about it, I don't think I did. Supper was on track, even if I had a tad more of the chicken and broccoli than is considered for a serving. Honestly, I almost skipped out on making supper and almost went for something easy, but then I remembered that I had a plan for the day AND I was worried that if I didn't make a good dinner, then it will make it harder for me to do so later. Does that make sense? DH was so glad to have a decent meal. He hasn't been eating well lately and is concerned that his weight is going to creep back on. I am just so glad that he is concerned about getting his weight down.

Most of my goals were met!

Side note.......DD18's boyfriend broke up with her. He wants her to commit to marrying him when she is done with school in 4 years and she said she can't do that right now. Smart girl, stupid boy. He'll learn and personally, I think he will miss her as there are not many down to earth well rounded independent young women out there who are confident enough to go for what they want. He was also having problems with her being in ROTC. Guess he thinks she will join the Army. She says she has no plans to join, but is doing what she can to get a tuition waiver through them and expected him to support her. He just doesn't get it. How can a boy be such a great kid and yet be so stupid? Somehow everything will work out.

Another note: DD18 spent last weekend doing military games with the ROTC. This was a requirement of the class. She had a good time and said that even though she knew it wasn't real, she kept remembering that there are soldiers doing this stuff everyday to fight for their lives. If that is all she ever got out of this, it will be a good thing. But she is learning some discipline she says and how to work as a team, which will help her later. Of course, I am not sure that knowing how to disassemble and reassemble an M16 in less than a minute will be of use in her civilian life, but my friend said that if she has to belly crawl through caves to an archeaological site she'll be fine. :rotfl2: If anyone is concerned about calories, she did tell me that men and women eat quite a bit more during trainings because of all the extra activity. She said that men get 3200? and women get 2800. Very interesting. It really helps put into perspective what you really should probably be eating for weight loss. Anyway, she is enjoying herself and making friends.

Oh, food:
Breakfast: 1 egg omelet w/moz & mushrooms, 1 c milk, 1/2 slice 7 grain toast w/jelly
AM snack: banana
Lunch: salad & cicken/broccoli ring (unless DH wants Chinese again)
PM snack: yogurt
Supper: maybe homemade potato soup

Goals for day:
1. 15 min exercise during morning and afternoon breaks
2. Finish the bills
3. 45 min GS
4. Bookwork

Better get going. This was really long today. Everyone have a great day! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Yay!!!! You're finally over the hump, so to speak! It's all downhill from here!!! :cool1:

Glad to hear you had a good day yesterday and stuck with the plan, even if it would have been easy to let it go.

So sorry to hear about your DD18 and her boyfriend. Sadly, I don't know any high school relationships that made it through college, but it's sad just the same. Too bad they aren't on the same page commitment-wise, but better to find out and part company now then drag it on for years. Hopefully they can remain friendly and each find what they want.

I hope you have a wonderful day today!!! :sunny:

Yesterday wasn't so good. It started well, but then I got stressed and tried the avoidance factor which only led to poor food choices. But, I will say that it was much much better than in the "before", so I am learning.

There is too much going on this weekend. We have a football dinner tonight that we have to prepare food for and possibly help serve. A stressor since the cheerleading coaches have acted worse than kindergarteners this year and have been unclear in what is to be brought for the dinner (cheerleaders are hosting) and we have been worried about too little food. Boys eat alot you know. So DH has been trying to keep peace while stirring up trouble so too speak in getting details. As business owners (especially of grocery), if this meal doesn't feed enough people unfortunately we will look bad since our child is involved.

Then there is a GS food drive tomorrow and I don't think we have enough help. I am also having a hard time getting feedback from leaders and parents at the moment. I know everyone is very busy right now, but it doesn't help the stress level. On Saturday, DD15 and another girl are doing a Brownie workshop in order to earn their Silver Award. The most stressing thing about this is that the girls have been so busy, they haven't had much time to talk to work out the final details and they only have 1/2 the number of kids actually needed to break even. Thankfully, last night they managed to get some final plans taken care of. To top it all off, DD7's birthday is on Sat. and we need to figure out where we are eating and what we are doing for a mini celebration. Thankfully we moved her party to the following weekend so that we can celebrate DS's birthday as well, since DD18 can only get home one weekend.

Then of course, there is just the myriad of other things in the mix.

So I skipped the AM snack or maybe I had PB, can't remember, but I think I skipped it. Lunch was on schedule. Then I had 4 cookies, PB, and was not hungry for supper. But I ate anyway. Supper was 2 pancakes and 1 sausage patty. Then I think I had another cookie, followed by Bunny Tracks ice cream late at night.

So today is a new day and I need to methodically work through these stressors.

Breakfast: cream of wheat, 1 c. milk, 2 slices ham
AM snack: gr pepper & cheese
Lunch: chicken & broccoli, salad
PM snack: yogurt
Supper: maybe some chili, maybe a good salad, depends on what we do at the dinner

Goals for day
1. 30 min exercise
2. 1 1/2 hr GS
3. If I stress, then exercise

Better get going. Everyone have a really good day! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

I need sleep. If anything is going to salvage the day it will be a shower, I hope.

I spent yesterday cooking for a football dinner then helping to serve. The cheerleading coach is an airhead. She stood there the whole time looking at a table of food and said, I don't know what to do. Hello! Hot dogs and buns in one spot, chili in another, and dessert in another. The guys go through the line and you serve them. How hard is that? Then she thinks 3 gal of milk is too much to buy. Um, we are feeding 60-80 guys. I am losing more respect for some people the more I get to know them.

Then it was clean up. Tried to catch Survivor and the Apprentice while doing other things. Stayed up way too late to redo maps for the food drive and hopefully split up the area more so we can get through it quicker. Then I had to make cookies for DD7 to take to school for her birthday treat. I just need to make it through today and tomorrow, I just need to make it through today and tomorrow.

Water? Bad. Food? So. So. Missed the AM snack, had a few baked cheetos right before lunch, which was as planned. A few cheetos after lunch. A couple of tastes of chili to check seasoning. A cookie. At the dinner, I had a donut hole & 1 bite of a peach dessert. For supper, after getting home, I had a Marie Calendars chicken pot pie and that was kind of late, then had two cookies. There was no way, I was eating the chili. They mixed them all together (a chili dump) and some people put some strange things in their chili. It just didn't look appealing.

Food today
Breakfast: 1 egg omelet w/mushrooms & moz, 1/2 slice 7 grain toast w/jelly, 1 c. milk
AM snack: banana
Lunch: tuna wrap & grapes
PM snack: yogurt
Supper: salad

Goals for day:
1. Stay sane for the food drive
2. stick with my eating plan and don't deviate - cookies aren't worth it
3. Water - lots of water

Gotta get going. After the food drive I need to run errands in the cities. Hopefully DH will go with and we will just make an evening of it with the youngest two. DD15 has a game.

Need to get that shower and get a few things in the mail before going to pick up children at the school. BTW, I am walking from the church to the school to get children and then back to the church.

Everyone have a great day! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Yikes! I am so sorry to hear about all of that stress! You're right, the cheerleading coach sounds like a total airhead. Thank goodness you were there to make sure it ran smoothly! I shudder to think what it would have been without you!

I know you can get back on track today. It sounds like you have lots to keep you busy and even a great opportunity for exercise. Grab your water and enjoy this lovely fall day!

Hang in there!!!! :flower:

Hi Lesli,

Glad to hear about how your DD is doing at school! Sorry to hear about the break up though. :( Sounds like she is still as thoughtful as ever from the ROTC experience story though. :)
Sorry I haven't been around that past few days!!! I hope that your stress and busy-ness subsides soon too! Proud to see you making good choices through it all too!!!

Have a happy & healthy night!
Mike :goodvibes

p.s. Go Blue Team!

I have about 10 minutes. Scale is the same, the result of not enough water.....and exercise. Although, I am so busy right now, I think I passed myself on the way out the door.

Yesterday was a whirlwind, but the food drive went well and the kids had fun. It was exhausting. Then DH and I ran errands and had dinner out it with the little ones.

AM snack was grapes. Lunch as planned plus a few chips. No PM snack, maybe a couple of chips on the way back out the door. Supper was the killer. We went to Long John Silvers/A&W. I was too tired to care what I ate, so I had two pieces of chicken planks, 2 hush puppies, 1/2 my fries, ice tea, and the breaded cruchies. :rolleyes1 Let's go fried all the way. It was good, but next time, I will pass on the fries.

This morning was hard to get up and I was stiff. BTW, I am counting 1.5 hrs of exercise from yesterday. We walked, I was in and out of the car every 1/2 block, and just general "walking with a purpose" during the event that actually took 4 hrs.

Breakfast: 1/2 bowl cream of wheat, 1/2 yogurt, 1 c. grapefruit juice
AM snack: ?
Lunch: taco
PM snack: fruit & milk
Supper: pizza & cake

Goals for day:
1. stay awake :rotfl2:
2. Drink lots of water

Today, DD15 is earning her GS Silver Award so I have to go as an adult presence. They are doing a food workshop for Brownies, so I know I will eat some of the items.

It's also DD8's birthday, so we are going to Pizza Hut tonight.

Better get going. Everyone have a great day! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Wow! So much to celebrate today. Happy birthday to your DD8 and a big congrats to your DD15 on her Silver award!!!

Yesterday sounds like a pretty incredible day, but at least it kept you moving! It must have been nice to have dinner out as a family.

Have a wonderful day today!!! :cool1:

Hi Lesli!

Great job on the food drive going well!
I hope that you have a fantastic day celebrating your DD8's Birthday and your DD15's accomplishments!
Good job on your food choices & exercise, keep up the good work!

Have a happy & healthy Saturday!
Mike :goodvibes

I think I am awake, but not quite sure. Last night, I was so tired that I curled up on the couch to watch DH play a video game (goes in spurts in our house) and I fell asleep. He tried to wake me, but I just couldn't move to get up to go to bed. Finally about 4:30 I went up and slept for another 4 hours. Still tired, but I knew that sleeping longer would be a big mistake. I think it is going to be a long day.

The Brownie Workshop (aka Silver Award) went pretty well. It was great, my co-leader and I just got to hang back in another room and peek in on the girls from time to time. The Brownies had a great time. The older two realized how much work it really was AND that things don't always go as smoothly as they do on paper. They were also very surprised that they pulled it off. Very good experience for them. But thankfully it is done.

That took most of the day. After cleaning up, I went home, cleaned up a few things, talked to my sister, whom I haven't heard from in awhile, and then went to sit down. Mistake! I told DH that we better go get supper or I was going to go to sleep. We had DD8's birthday dinner at Applebee's instead of PH. She loves Applebee's. Then we went to Borders and found her some new books for part of her gifts. The rest she will get at her party next weekend. It's a good thing we did it this way. We bought her 5 books at the book fair last Monday and she is already through 3, so I sat with her in Borders to find some more challenging and thicker chapter books. She really wants to read Harry Potter and probably could, but I think we will see how she does with the new ones. One of the books she picked up was Peter Pan (the original by J. M. Barrie) and on the cover she noticed that it had the statue of Peter Pan which sits in Kensington Park in London. She thought it was so neat since DD18 and I had seen it and have pictures of it. Peter Pan just happens to be her all time favorite story, so it turned out to be a really neat gift, even if it wasn't wrapped.

Oh, food. Missed the AM snack. Lunch was a salad. Lots of letuce, 1/2 taco shell broken, taco meat and some cheese. OH and a small piece of "pull apart pizza", basically a biscuit w/sauce and cheese. PM snack was 3 cookies, poor choice but too tired. Supper was chicken teriyaki bowl (brought 1/2 home) and part of the apple chimicheesecake (I think that is the name) for desert. Water was great in the morning and early afternoon, but I couldn't keep it up in the evening.

Breakfast: cream of wheat, 1 c. grapefruit juice
AM snack: cheese & veggies
Lunch: chicken teriyaki bowl (at least it is mostly veggies and chicken, not really alot of rice)
PM snack: fruit & milk
Supper: salad, maybe something else, I am too tired to think that far

Goals for day:
1. 1/2 hr exercise to help wake me up
2. 1 1/2 hr GS (got a meeting tomorrow and tues)
3. 15-20 min in each room of the house, just to get some semblance of order

Gotta go. This day is slipping away. Everyone have a great day!
