Lesbian couple considering honeymoon on Fantasy

Eight cruises and we've always been seated with other adults - no children. Second seating generally has more adults than children so that may be a factor too. In my experience, it's not terribly unusual to see several openly gay couples on the DCL cruises and it's never seemed to bother anyone. If by some chance you find someone intolerant at your table, talk to your head server and ask to be moved to somewhere with a better atmosphere. There's no need to put up with someone unpleasant. However, I don't think you'll have much of an issue based on what I've seen. You might find that your tablemates are more than happy to join in your celebration.

I have been a surrogate mother for two gay couples and I've joked with my husband that we should have it noted on our reservation that when assigning table mates our family would be happy to sit with a family of any kind. I'm willing to bet you won't have any troubles with your seat mates but if you do don't hesitate to talk to your head server who will be able to find you a less jerk - infused table. ;)

My wife, Lisa and I love cruising Disney! Our first cruise we were seated with 3 other couples, one of whom were only at one meal, another who were Japanese and did not speak English and an older couple named Rosemary and Frank. We made no secret of the fact that we were a couple. The Japanese couple figured it out first and asked via sign language/mime and clapped with joy when we confirmed their suspicions. Rosemary and Frank wanted to know how we met.

When we were in Nassau we found a ring for Lisa that matched the one that she had given me 6 months earlier. Everyone at our table, including our servers and the head waiter celebrated that with us. Never once did we feel singled out or looked down upon.

On our second cruise we brought our 4 best friends...also lesbian couples. This time we were seated at a table for just the 6 of us. Throughout our entire 7 day cruise we were treated no differently than anyone else. It was magical.

Disney is very gay friendly and you and your wife will have nothing to worry about at all.

Linda

:yay: Just wanted to say congratulations and to share in your excitement!! We are just about to book our first cruise with the same ports of call as yours and I am beyond excited. I have been smiling from ear to ear all day just dreaming about it!!! I hope it is all you (we!) imagine, and I bet it will be! Enjoy!!!

The Disney Company is "known" to be "gay friendly"

That being said, "everyone" should realize this going in.

On our last cruise a Gay couple was pick to be couple #2 at the Match Your Mate game (adults only)

Hopefully you will not have any issues. Congrats and good luck.

They do not care what your preferences are, follow there rules pay your bill up front and they will love you.

And dont forget to note on your reservation that you are celebrating your honeymoon and be sure to get a couple if just married buttons from guest services after you board!

My partner and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary on The Dream and we were seated with 2 other adult couples. Everyone was wonderful and we didn't feel the least bit awkward. The servers even brought us out a special dessert for our anniversary and made us kiss! Like others have said, if you do have any problems you can always ask to switch your seats, but Disney really does a great job with pairing people up.

We're another female couple and have never had a problem in 11 Disney cruises. We've been seated with all kinds of people of all different ages but never with any kids. Which works for us. Most of the time we wind up at an 8 top with other couples/honeymooners/just engaged folks. We have made some great friends this way. In fact we're sailing with two of them on Wednesday!

Congratulations and have a fantastic time. :bride::bride:

A big congratulations to you both! My husband and I are going on our honeymoon on the Fantasy over Thanksgiving this year.

To echo everyone else, my best friend and I went on the Dream in 2012 and made friends with a bunch of other gay men and never had a problem. We just spent most of our time in the adult areas.

But thank you for asking this question... its something I've been wanting additional input on as I tend to be a worrier. :hyper:

something I haven't seen noted yet is that you may want to check out your cruise meet thread and introduce yourselves. you may find couples on there who you would like to have seating with, get to know your table mates before you leave home.
just a thought. have a great time!

The first cruise with dcl I was with a good friend and was seated with a great gay couple! Talked to them for years! Had more fun at dinner with them then I ever had On a dcl cruise so far. So don't worry about others and just celebrate your love. If someone does have a problem they can lean to deal

 What a wonderful person you are!

Just wanted to jump on and say CONGRATS! Hope you have a magical wedding and fantastic honeymoon. :)

I second this. We have good friends we met on this message board who were nervous about this issue. We ended up making a table of four adult couples and had an absolute blast. Three of us couples have cruised together again twice since then... That's how well we hit it off!

It isn't 100% true that you won't be seated with kids. My husband and I did a DCL trip as part of our honeymoon, with a honeymoon package booked, and we were still seated with a family that had kids, as well as an older couple. It wasn't a problem for us, but it can happen.

That said, have a blast on your trip, and honestly, since it is your honeymoon, I'd request to sit alone. We might have, had we known that was an option. :)

This would be my suggestion. Join in the meet thread for your cruise and get to know some of the people. On our last cruise I know a few pairs of DIS members requested to be sat together for MDR and they had a great time.

Congrats and I hope you have a fantastic cruise and honeymoon!

It surprises me how good DCL is at seating you with similar families! On our honeymoon, we were seated with 2 other couples our age both on their honeymoons! Then last year I went on a cruise with my husband, brother and parents. We were seated with a couple about the same age as my parents traveling with their 20-something year old kids!

It is kind of crazy isn't it? We are a family of 3 and were seated with a family of 5 (mom, dad, grandma, their 6 year old DD and 10 year olds DS) we all got along great. We all had the same sense of humor, my son and their nephew were the same age and though there was no way of them knowing this, they live a street over from my sister in NM (we lived in ND) the first night I was really apprehensive but definitely learned to give it as chance.
