Les Chefs de France??

Hello fellow Disney fans!

My husband and I are planning a trip for November, and I am starting to narrow down our restaurant choices. I think I pretty much have everything figured out except for one more table service meal. I am deciding between Wolfgang Puck Cafe and Les Chefs de France. I am really leaning toward Chefs because it seems to be more of an "adventure" - but my hubby is a Midwestern meat and potatoes kind of guy who does not like to try new things unless he knows exactly what he is getting. And I am afraid Chefs may be too much of a stretch for him.

For those that have been there - do you think he will be satisfied with the offerings at Chefs? Is there something there for him that is not too "refined" that he can enjoy? We have ate at many places all over the resort, but I have always steered clear of this one......

Definitely do-able! My DH is the same. He got:

Filet de boeuf grille, sauce au poivre noir Gratin Dauphinois et haricots verts - Grilled tenderloin of beef with a black pepper sauce original potato gratin of Savoy and green beans $34.95

Without the sauce, just plain beef tenderloin with green beans and scalloped potatoes, my DH subbed for mashed. My MIL got the roast chicken, said it was the best chicken she's ever had. Just a plain roast chicken though.

Enjoy if you go, we loved it! Also, we made an 8pm ADR and sat in the front glass part. We got to watch Illuminations with our dessert. It was the best meal of our trip (which included Le Cellier and Tutto). Service was amazing!
 
Excellent - you made my day! Les Chefs it is!

I will just explain to him that he has to see past the "fancy french" wording and just enjoy his meal. I have always wanted to try this place - so excited!
 

The wording is fancier than the food, but we are not huge fans of Chefs de France for dinner - we found much of the meal bland and lifeless. We are trying them for lunch next month as the menu is a little different.

For better meat and potatos I'd try for Le Cellier in Canada.

Oh I did not mention - after our last trip - DH declared that every Disney trip from then forward must include Le Cellier - so that is one of the other places we are visiting. I love that dang pretzel bread! ;)
 
DH and I were at Chefs de France just a few weeks ago, we did the 3 course price fix menu and it was really very good. I got the roasted chicken and it was delicious. An entire half chicken at that, along with roasted potatoes, red, yellow, purple and sweet potatoes, yummy................ I think the price was about $37 per person for 3 courses.
 
Are you talking about only dinner? If not, consider Le Chefs prix fixe lunch menu - $20 for appetizer, entree & dessert - it's really just fancy mac & cheese, quiche or a grilled ham & cheese sandwich! Here are some pics - everything was ABSOLUTELY delicious. We will be eating lunch here again!

I hate Les Chefs, but in this case, your husband will probably like it more then WPC. The food at Les Chefs is simple and straight forward.....it just sounds fancy because they have things listed in French.

WPC is actually more adventerous, creative, and foreign fare to Americans than Les Chefs.

Well articulated. You're absolutely right. Les Chefs de France may have fancy menu descriptions and white linen tablecloths, but it's not a particularly upscale restaurant. The food is actually pretty standard, perhaps to cater to the average American palate. I almost guarantee your husband will find a couple dishes to his liking.

Wolfgang Puck Cafe may seem like a standard restaurant, but the dishes there are probably more exotic and creative than the fare at Chefs de France.
