HI. We ate at chefs de france and the experience was barely enjoyable. first of all, I was surprised at how brightly lit it was. Our server was in quite a hurry and rushed us along ..starting with placing our order. I realized that it was not romantic dining as a little girl with a bathing suit stared me down..so i made the best of it. :confused3 .BF ordered a onion flatbread which was very tasty.I ordered the salad with goat cheese. It was quite full of vinegar and very sour. While i was eating the salad, the server came with our entrees..He whisked our appetizers away and placed our food on the table. He never offered a refill of wine.. :earseek:
Our dinners were mediocre at best.. I ordered mac and cheese and it appeared microwaved.. I literally stuck a fork in and lifted it out of the dish and it retained its shape..lol...too funny.. Needless to say we asked for the check...I wish we never canceled cali grill reservations :rolleyes1 I would never go again

We have had 3 less than memorable meals at Les Chefs....and I always figured 3 strikes and you're out!! Mediocre food, with service that ranges from indifferent to just plain rude, tiny portions that are frequently served cold/tepid....no thanks....too many excellent dining choices at Epcot to bother!!

I only went there once with my mom. That was enough! The food was good but the service was not good, the waitresses just hung around talking to each other and when we went to get their attention they practically sighed with impatience. I guess we interrupted their conversation lol! Now that was a good 5+ years ago, perhaps they have gotten a little better? I personally like the bakery better than the restaurant so I eat dinner somewhere else and save dessert for France! :cake:

I guess we've been lucky the 3 times we've gone. Each time, our waiter has been great, the food has been very good & we've never felt rushed. In fact, during our meal last week, our waiter offered to hold dessert so we could see Illuminations. Sorry, others haven't had the same experience.

I forgot to mention...they began to windex the tab :hourglass le next to us.. as the hostess informed a patron that the restaurant closes at 9pm...it was 8:45...

::MickeyMo Hey Neighbor! (I go to MU). Thanks for the review. The thought of trying this place has crossed our minds. I think it still needs some hard thinking. Maybe a few trips from now. ::MinnieMo

hmm if you were there really late maybe that is why they seemed rushed? i have to say i always hated it when customers came in at the last min. cause i was tired and really just wanted to go home. not saying that means they deserve bad service but really why does disney make adrs so close to closing?

we had a really good meal there and the service was fine also...guess it's like every other wdw rest. that has it's good and bad days and you just hope for a good one:)

We've had over-the-top superior service and excellent meals each time we've visited Chefs de France. It is remarkable to be able to have such a wonderful dining experience in such a casual setting as a theme park. I'm looking forward to our return visit in January!

mimi,
agree with you, we were rushed as well, barely had time to read the menu, and couldn't get dessert to go. We won't return either.
The chef came around to all the tables, though, very nice, but it was our waiter who spoiled it for us.

I was beginning to wonder if I was the only one who didn't care for Chefs De France. I know I was expecting too much because I am trained in Classical French cuisine.
We had one meal there & will never return. The servers were arrogant & pretentious and the food was Americanized & bland. The rice with my sole had been in the bain so long it was crunchy & transparent. When I brought this to the attention of the waiter, he tried to tell me it was a "special kind of rice" Hmmm, No, it is overcooked, sat too long in the bain rice. Then he bought over the manager to tell me the same thing. Once again, I explained that I was a trained Chef & that the rice was old. I was trying to do them a professional courtesy & their response was ridiculously defensive & arrogant.

We never tryed Chefs but we do go to the Bistro upstairs ,small great food great service and they do not hurry you along we have finished our dinner well after the park closes, and at the Bistro they do enforce the dress code ,have seen people with reservations turned away :cool1:

We ate there a couple of weeks ago, and it was not nearly as good as it had been in December. It was strange to see macaroni and cheese and lasagna as two of the entrees on the very limited menu. We also felt very rushed. We ordered lobster bisque, and my mother-in-law joked that they must have just let the lobster look at the soup because they certainly didn't put him in the pot! It had no discernable lobster in it at all. :confused3

A proper bisque should have no discernable ingredients, but rather the soup should be thoroughly puréed (including the lobster shells, which should be made into a fine paste), and therefore should be perfectly smooth.
