I know this has been talked about before probably, but I wanted to give fresh opinions. I am going to Disney World in September with my husband and 3 year old. I have a Canon T1i with the kit lens (18-55) and a 50 mm/F1.8. I was considering renting a better lens to take. I just can’t decide which one to rent. I will mainly want good pictures of my daughter up close and on rides. It would be nice to get some good scenery pictures, but that isn’t my top priority. I want something that will take better pictures than my kit lens, but not extremely heavy. I was considering the Canon 18-135mm but wasn't sure if it was heavy. Any advice or suggestions on what lens to rent? Thanks!

The 18-135mm (my main lens) is a great walkaround for Disney. The zoom range is very useful; and the lens produces some good looking shots. And No, it isn't too heavy.

You can really go 2 directions with this. You can go for more reach, like with the 18-135. Or you can go for a faster sharper walkaround lens. Either the Canon 17-55 f/2.8 or the Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 would fit that bill.

don't know about the weight but the 18-55IS is actually optically better than the 18-135IS (see www.photozone.de)
if you want a zoom lens with a larger aperture look at the f2.8 zooms like Tamron, Sigma or the Canon 17-55IS. If you need a longer focal length consider the Canon 55-250IS - only $150 but it's sharp

All good choices listed. If you are going to be outside mostly, you should also consider the 24-105 f4.0 L lens and the 24-70 f2.8 L lens.
