Last year I bought my niece a Nikon D40 with the 18-55 kit lens.
This year she wants an extra lens to go with it, either a telephoto or macro lens. She is eighteen and still at school - studying amongst other things photography and design. Because the camera & lens will be kept at school, I don't want to go over the top in price in case it gets lost, damaged or stolen.
I can get a Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 "Motorized" DG Macro Telephoto Zoom Lens with Built-in Motor Drive for a good price
What would you suggest?
Sorry - I'm a Canon man so I don't know too much about Nikons.
