What do you guys think about this huge debacle over Leno coming back to the 11:35 slot and, in turn, pushing Conan back to 12:30 again or potentially to a new network?
NBC admitted that one of the reasons Leno was pushed back to 10 was because his show would be cheaper to produce, as opposed to the one-hour dramas that normally run that time slot like Law & Order. (This, in and of itself, IMO is one of the reasons network TV has been on a slippery downward slope for almost a decade. Networks have so many freakin' reality shows because it costs them little-to-nothing for the "talent".) However, the network has obviously lost money due to sponsors becoming less and less since shows like Law & Order are what bring the viewers in.
I'll go on record as saying I used to be a huge fan of Conan about 7 or 8 years ago, but I haven't seen his new show, so I can't really comment on that. What I will say is that I think Leno is a really nice guy.....but he should NOT be doing stand-up comedy. When you can end each punchline to a joke with a stereotypical 1950's delivery of "No....but seriously, folks", it's probably time to end your stand-up career.
