What do you guys think about this huge debacle over Leno coming back to the 11:35 slot and, in turn, pushing Conan back to 12:30 again or potentially to a new network?

NBC admitted that one of the reasons Leno was pushed back to 10 was because his show would be cheaper to produce, as opposed to the one-hour dramas that normally run that time slot like Law & Order. (This, in and of itself, IMO is one of the reasons network TV has been on a slippery downward slope for almost a decade. Networks have so many freakin' reality shows because it costs them little-to-nothing for the "talent".) However, the network has obviously lost money due to sponsors becoming less and less since shows like Law & Order are what bring the viewers in.

I'll go on record as saying I used to be a huge fan of Conan about 7 or 8 years ago, but I haven't seen his new show, so I can't really comment on that. What I will say is that I think Leno is a really nice guy.....but he should NOT be doing stand-up comedy. When you can end each punchline to a joke with a stereotypical 1950's delivery of "No....but seriously, folks", it's probably time to end your stand-up career.

The Tonight Show ceased being a show that I was interested in when Johnny Carson left. The Tonight Show with Jay Leno was always just Leno to me. I have never been a big fan of his humor. I was also rather mad at NBC for the way that they treated Dave Letterman when Johnny was leaving and gave the job that he had been promised to Leno. I had not been a big fan of Letterman's up to that point, but I am rather fond of him now.

I have never really watched Conan O'Brien. I am not a big fan of what I have seen of his work, but then again, I have been so mad at NBC, for parking Leno at 10pm and killing off what used to be some of the best entertainment on tv, that I have refused to watch NBC from 10pm until I go to sleep. That means, that I do not watch my local NBC affiliate's news and I do not watch Conan. I have only seen stuff that has been YouTube'd or featured somewhere else. I will say that Conan's statement about his decision to decline the offer to take The Tonight Show to the 12:05am slot because it would be a disservice to the show, well, with that statement, he earned my respect. Even if NBC moves Leno to 11:35pm, I do not care! I will not watch and it's mostly on general principle.

NBC started ticking me off with the way that it handled the show Crossing Jordan. They kept moving it around, splitting it's season, and then finally without warning just killed it off after many years without a proper finale and with everyone being rescued off the side of a mountain after a plane crash. The show deserved a better ending and we as loyal and somewhat abused viewers of the show deserved better too.

I don't know who runs the NBC network, but they suck.

Fire the lot of em and put on Pee Wee!
Hahaha- made you look.

Well....PeeWee did, after all, get his start in front of live audiences. :thumbsup2

As I didn't watch Jay or Conan, I could care less what happens to either one of them or their shows. I'll take Dr. Who reruns any day over their comedy bits.

LOL Did I mention that I knew John Frank Rosenblum in college? Now that is a interesting character. [For those of you in the dark on this one, he owned the rights to Dr. Who in the US for at least a little while back in the late 80's. His Dad gave him the rights as a birthday present.]

yeah Pee Wee has a live stage show he's doing - like the Playhouse live-
not sure if it will tour.

I am in the Conan camp..........love him! He is hilarious, and his show was always fun to watch!

I am a non-tv watcher :( But I do listen to all the radio stations talking about this debate. Seriously, is it that big of a deal? I don't know... If I wanted to watch a program, I would stay up to watch it or tape it. Doesn't always matter on the time slot.

I too used to LOVE the Tonight Show, when Johnny was at the helm.:thumbsup2 I haven't watched since Jay took over. I just don't care for him, and have never found him funny. I wish they'd give Kathy Griffin a shot, now THAT would be hilarious!!:woohoo:

I just can't warm to Conan, even before he took over The Tonight Show. He's too quirky for my tastes.

Jay is a great comedian and its a shame what they've done to both of them though.

I <3 Kathy Griffin

That would be great  but who would come on with her.

I've always liked both Jay and Conan. Some of this has to do with my extreme dislike of David Letterman. There has been the odd time that I stayed up to watch, when someone I really admire was on Letterman, but he was so wildly unprepared and inhospitable it just made even those interviews unbearable.

I'm not really on one side, I want to go back to the time when I thought everyone liked eachother :cloud9:

Ohhhh she could gets guests, I LOVE her, she's a freaking HOOT!!! :rotfl2:
