I'm a sucker for a kid and a lemonade stand. On the way back from dropping DD at a friend's house today, I passed two - both collecting for the Red Cross. I paid $5.00 for a warm cup of lemonade at one, and $20.00 for a bottle of water and two packages of brownies and chocolate chip cookies at the other (that was a multi-family stand in my neighborhood, and I knew those kids pretty well.)

That's more than I would usually spend, of course, but I always give a dollar - I just can't get enough of that look on their faces when they realize they're going to get to keep that whole dollar.

Once, down the street, I pulled over at a little girl's house - she had stands pretty often. This time, though, she and a friend were selling...sticks. And very seriously, they showed me the sticks they had - small, medium and large "spears". And then, just as deadly serious, told me they had some "guns" too, if I needed one.

I bought a medium spear for $1.00, and I can't tell you how I treasure that stick. Her dad is my DD's orthodontist, and we have laughed about the spear sale for months.

Do you stop at lemonade stands? What are your interesting or funny stories????

I have to buy what ever they little kids are selling. I remember how much I liked doing it. :) My friend Matt and I would sit there all day. We called is L & M Cafe (:rotfl: )Our street has no traffic, so we'd uasually only sell a cup or two, but that was a big acomplishment for us. :goodvibes

The little girl down the street had a rock sale once. For a little extra, she'd color on your rock with a marker :p

I haven't seen a lemonade stand in ages!
I remember having lemonade/Kool-Aid stands on the corner in the summertime, and how thrilling it was when someone would give us a whole dollar when we were only asking for 5 cents. Then my mom got worried about us getting kidnapped or something so we weren't allowed to have lemonade stands anymore. :(

There are no lemonade stands around here or within a 50 mile radius in any direction.

same here. I don't remember ever seeing one around here.

My kids have them quite a bit during the summer. If it wasn't for our neighbor across the street giving them a 20 for a cup each time they have a stand, they really wouldn't have made that much

I used to always give $1 for a cup, even though the kids always charged 25-cents. Stopped at one this summer, and the kids were charging a dollar! And smaller cups than they used to have. So they only got a dollar. :p

I usually buy it if it is in my walking distance because when I was little and did it the selling it and coolecting, I think it was a quarter then was a thrill for me :cool1:

I love when kids have lemonade stands, I always stop and buy a cup! And I always give them 1.00 even if its 25 cents. One kid had a stand and I knew her and all I had was a 5 dollar bill...so for 1 cup of lemonade and 2 cookies I gave her 5.00....

I am a sucker for lemonade stands, fundraisers, etc., anything kids are selling.

I thought about this thread earlier when I ran to the grocery store. I was coming out and two young boys and a mom were set up outside selling $1 candy bars for their local school. They did their spiel "Hi, would you like to buy a candy bar to support XYZ school?" I said "so what kinds do you have?" They did their spiel of the kinds and I pulled a dollar out of my wallet and said "Well, I don't need any candy, but guys can have a dollar and split one between you two." They looked so surprised! It was so cute.
