I'm a sucker for a kid and a lemonade stand. On the way back from dropping DD at a friend's house today, I passed two - both collecting for the Red Cross. I paid $5.00 for a warm cup of lemonade at one, and $20.00 for a bottle of water and two packages of brownies and chocolate chip cookies at the other (that was a multi-family stand in my neighborhood, and I knew those kids pretty well.)
That's more than I would usually spend, of course, but I always give a dollar - I just can't get enough of that look on their faces when they realize they're going to get to keep that whole dollar.
Once, down the street, I pulled over at a little girl's house - she had stands pretty often. This time, though, she and a friend were selling...sticks. And very seriously, they showed me the sticks they had - small, medium and large "spears". And then, just as deadly serious, told me they had some "guns" too, if I needed one.
I bought a medium spear for $1.00, and I can't tell you how I treasure that stick. Her dad is my DD's orthodontist, and we have laughed about the spear sale for months.
Do you stop at lemonade stands? What are your interesting or funny stories????
