We were in WDW for DS's bday (turned 5) and we went to Lego store in DD. So, we have outgrown duplo bloks and moved on to the teeny-tiny legos. Yikes, they were not that small when I was small. Anyway, he picked Star Wars legos and absolutely loves them. We bought 2 small fighting ships w/ some army droids and storm troopers. Now DS needs, always needs never wants, Darth Vader and someone w/ a light saber. Does anyone know if I can get these figures w/out spending $100 on a 1000+ piece toy I have no interest in trying to put together? I looked on Ebay, and do not want to spend over $10 for a one inch figure.
Do you know if you can make any of the Star Wars figures at the Lego store? I know you can build your own, but did not look at was all available.
BTW, Legos.com, no help !!

Try going to the lego website, I know you can buy individual pieces. I'm not sure if they have Darth or not though, but worth a shot.

If you can wait until after Christmas, you may be able to find a set clearanced somewhere.

aterriq,

I did see those, but was disappointed they are magnets. Now I am wondering if they are actual figures with magnets on the back, if I could just rip the magnets off. Problem solved. I may call one of the stores for assistance w/ my question. Thanks for your help !!

You could try bricklink, but It looks like Vader goes for close to $10 there too.

Thanks for the suggestions, I am going to call a Lego store and get an opinion from a clerk, then order something on line for Santa to stuff in DS's stocking !!

We have magnets and keychains. They look just like the mini figs in the sets, but do not come apart.

I also use www.findmybrick.com for replacement parts for Lego sets. My boys are great for losing pieces. They have good prices for hard to find bricks, but you probably won't find the mini figs much under $10 anywhere. Reason being is the mini figs come unique to certain sets and a lot of people buy the sets just for the mini figs. Star Wars is the oldest theme Lego offers and still one of the most popular.

Try searching on ebay or one of the lego resellers for set 7263. It is one of the smaller sets, a TIE fighter with a Vader mini fig. Original retail 19.99. It's retired now but I've seen it going for about retail, or less used on ebay.

I just went with the regular sets when my boys were 5. They are still playing with them 3 years later and asking Santa for more this year too. Legos aren't cheap, but I've gotten my money out of them.

regards

Dh has the stormtrooper set of the magnets. The magnets are the little dot kind and are inside the legs and not visable from the outside. They still function like the regular lego men and you really can't see them at all.

order66, thanks for the set #, know anymore?
I did look it up on ebay, found one new, but my max bid didn't cut it. Oh well, I'll keep searching.

Some of the smaller sets we have that include Vader are:
7200 Final Duel- Vader & Palpatine
7257 Vader Transformation - Vader and "burned" Anakin
7263 TIE fighter - light up saber Vader
and a bigger set, which is actually 3 seperate sets in one 10131 TIE collection- Vader and 2 TIE pilots

Some of the sets that have Jedi are:
7203 Jedi Defense - Obi-Wan & Droidekas
7204 Jedi Defense II - Qui Gon & battle droids
7255 General Grievous Chase - Obi-Wan on Boga & Grievous

A couple bigger sets are
6212 X-Wing - Luke in pilot uniform & Wedge
4502 X- Wing Dagobah - Luke in training clothes & Yoda
7257 Ultimate Duel - mustafar set Anakin vs. Obi-Wan light up sabers

And if it doesn't have to be a Jedi just "something with a lightsaber" the 7656 Grievous Starship is on the shelves now and he isn't a jedi, but comes with 4 lightsabers.

Don't fret too much. Lego has been re-releasing the sets previously retired over the years. This year they have put out "new" Episode I sets. They usually plan them for Feb, but usually go out in Jan. Good luck.

Ohhhhh....that's one of the three sets that DS9 is dying to get for Christmas!!
I've only seen it on e-bay.!!:headache:

Don't ya love when they ask for something just impossible to get? That set was made in 2004 and has since retired. Ebay or a reseller will be the only way to get one. It was actually the first big set I got my sons. I think it was 39.99. There are some crazy prices on retired sets sometimes. But if you are lucky, sometimes you can pick one up for the normal retail price. This year one of mine wants the Hoth set, which is of course impossible to get too. I saw it was on back order at lego.com so when I lucked into one at ToysRUs (on the highest top shelf) I snatched one up. My mother also bought it, so now we have 2. I've been at the SW Lego thing for 3 years.... I learned my lesson to buy early and store it away.

Yes, I've browsed them on E-Bay. Ohhhh.....

Do you think there's any chance they'll have it in the Lego Store in DTD or the Star Tours gift shop in MGM. We arrive in WDW on Dec. 20th.

There are 2 other big Lego sets he also wants:
Republic Cruiser (I picked that one up yesterday)
AT-AT #4483 (I know I'll never find that one either)

Glad you were able to get the Hoth set (although I'm not sure what that one is).

Wow your son dreams big. :lmao: Mine wanted the big Super Star Destroyer (the $300 one) last year. I told him that it was for older people, not 7 year olds. He had to settle for the smaller $100 one instead but was mad it didn't come with the Tantive IV.

No, the DTD store won't have any retired Legos either. When we were there my son asked EVERY employee for the Darth Vader TIE that was on display there. "Just open that case and I'll buy it....." LOL They no longer made that one either, but it was available in the TIE collectors set which they suggested we order online when we got home because they were currently out of stock on it.

We don't have the AT AT either because that was another $300 set geared more for adult collectors. The AT AT and the original Millenium Falcon are the two "most collectable" sets they ever put out. At the orginal price....I'd be scared to see what they are selling for on ebay. Lego has the motorized AT AT out for this year and it's still available online as of checking a couple minutes ago. I'm considering this one for mine, but know I'll have to really help him. He's only 8.

Hoth is the one in the ToysRUS big toy book. Rebel base with Snow Speeder.

One other tip. If you know someone in Europe, they have different releases than the US. Sometimes they can get sets still that have been retired over here.

Ok thanks!

My sister just left this week on a 3 week business trip to "somewhere" in Europe...I'll mention it to her when I talk to her.

Hope your DS has a great Christmas!!

Gee, I thought I was the only one guilty of spending $50 so DS4 (yes 4) could have a lego Luke skywalker....

He loves the little people..... :confused3 it is his fave toys and they have to be star wars. :sad2:

My son gets the lego's magazine and there is a coupon for $5 off 35 purchase, or use online at legoshop.com code SP117. If anyone wants the actual coupon for the store or outlet, pm me and i'll send it to you.
