We went to the LL waterpark the weekend it opened for a few hours, and haven't made the time to go back since.
Let's just say they pushed to get the park open that weekend. There were a few features missing which I believe are now open. Given what it looked like 7 and 14 days before it opened they worked wonders.
My favorite slide was the orange one (where you ride the raft). DD and I managed to do it so that we glided into the water at the end and there was minimal splash. We didn't ride the red (twin) slides. The blue one was OK, but I think it's a slow slide - I was trying to not go too fast and then ended up having to skootch the last 12 feet down the slide. Waiting in line for the slides was quite chilly - and I think that will hold true until August.
DD's fave is the lazy river. Which is HEATED! It's got 5-6 things shooting water into the river, which are easy to hit or miss depending on your preference. When we were there they had single or double tubes you could ride, and the build-your-own ones hadn't arrived yet (though the bricks, I think, had).
The water splash area wasn't done yet, so I don't know what that's ended up looking like. The pool itself and the tower thing in the middle was done, and sends out gushes of water every so often (heralded by some sort of horn so you can get in or out of the splash zone). The big
lego waterfall man thing wasn't done yet.
We didn't check out the toddler play zone, as I don't have a toddler, but it seemed to be complete and well-used.
There were plenty of chairs available when we were there (mid afternoon on the weekend it opened) but it might be a problem if attendance ramps up. Most are on concrete, but to the right of the entrance to the lazy river is a sandy area with chairs and such.
I really liked the changing area - a huge, covered, area of family sized lockers, and around the outside were lots of family-sized changing rooms. Open on the bottom, open on the top, metal bench to plop your stuff on. We had plenty of room to change. PLEASE do me a favor and change IN the waterpark, don't go out to the closest restrooms in LL proper because that's gone from being clean and empty to swampy and congested.
Please wear clothes outside of the waterpark! I don't think anyone needs to be wearing only a swimsuit on Fairy Tale Brook!
I can't speak to the food inside - we're locals and rarely eat inside. I saw a snack stand in an isolated corner by the sandy sitting area and a more formal eating place kind of between the changing area and the preschool play area.
In general, I think that LL is a tough sell for a one-day visit (in general) and that adding the water park on will make it even tougher to hit the main attractions and have a bit of unscheduled fun. I think the waterpark's good for a few hours (for me) but between the splash pool and the lazy river DD could probably spend the better part of a day there.
I was thinking of heading back out there this weekend, weather permitting, and will post an update if I get there.
