For those of you who have stayed at LL hotel, is there really a ton of stuff to do there?

We plan to leave Anaheim early Thursday morning, go the LL park and check into the hotel after that. We may eat dinner in the hotel and explore, but it will already be about 7 or 8 after we bathe and get ready.

Friday we plan to leave early and drive to San Diego zoo, which closes about 5. So we will have a couple hours that night as well.

So the reason I ask is because we can opt to fly home out of LAX on Saturday in the evening. that would give us a little time in the mornign to explore. We would have to make that long drive though.

Or we can leave out of SAn diego airport, but the flight is at 9am. part of me wants to take advantage of the hotel since we're paying, but I'm not the one driving all the way to LAX :)

We stayed at the LEGOLAND hotel last year in May. It was a quick one night stay. We arrived around noon and just went straight to the park, then checked in around 5pm. We had a pirate room and it was great! As for stuff to do there, there is a big Lego castle play area that is total chaos, but fun. They do building contests there in the evenings and I think little shows too. We didn't do those because we got there too late and missed them while we were at dinner. The pool looked fun, but we didn't use it. There aren't any slides or anything but they have giant Lego floating bricks and movies by the pool at night. The hotel itself is on the small side, but the theming is fantastic. When you check in they will also give you an entertainment listing and a "treasure hunt" activity. Each room has a small safe that looks like a treasure chest. The activity sheet has clues, the answers to which are found around the hotel. Find the answers that will unlock the treasure chest. The "prize" is some gold chocolate coins, mini Lego set and kids Lego magazine. It only took us about 10 minutes to find all the answers and open the chest.
We ate dinner and breakfast at Bricks. Go early or the line gets crazy long. We enjoyed it. My picky son found plenty to eat there so that works for us! Breakfast was included with the room.
Another great thing about the hotel was getting early entry into the park the next day. There is a whole section to the park that is only open to hotel guests first thing in the morning. I think we were the 2nd people into the park that morning and it was fantastic!
We really enjoyed staying there and would do so again if it wasn't so darn expensive. I think they have raised the prices even more than last year. It was fun to do at least once though.
