Hi,
My daughter wants to go to Legoland for Easter next year. I have been there once, about 12 years ago, so don't know much about it at all. I have several questions:

1. Is the Legoland Hotel worth the $500 a night (YIKES!!) price tag, or is the Sheraton just as nice (and easy access to the park)?

2. Are gift cards sold anywhere other than the park? In other words, might I be able to find them at a discount like I do for Disney?

3. How big is minifig trading?

4. When do the packages for the next year tend to come out?

5. Is there anything else I might need to know or look for when researching this possible trip?

I can only answer # 1.
The Legoland Hotel is right at the Legoland entrance plaza. It is decorated as a Lego theme and you can choose a room that is like a castle, pirates or something else. The restaurant and hallways are all decked out in the lego theme.

The Sheraton is a standard hotel and is nice, but won't have any Lego theme to it at all. It does have a back entrance to Legoland which you can walk to through the parking lot. I am not sure if that gate is always open, but it is very convenient. The restaurant is more high end and a place where people usually dress up. There's also a spa and all the traditional things you expect from a Sheraton. It shares the grounds and parking with the Marbrisa timeshare.

I wouldn't say the Sheraton is as nice as the Legoland Hotel if I were interested in Lego themeing. I also wouldn't say that the Legoland Hotel is worth $500./night, unless you want to carry on the experience 24 hours/day. My husband and I walked through the Legoland Hotel on NYE and it was pretty crazy with over stimulated kids running all over the place. I don't know if it is always like that. I haven't stayed at the Sheraton, but have been to their spa and restaurant several times as I own at the timeshare that shares the grounds. If I had younger children, I would stay at the Legoland Hotel at least once. Since it came out after my kids were grown, I am sure I'd never stay there.

I guess my answer won't be that helpful, but I hope it at least gives you more information.

Wondering the same thing. My 8YO son wants to visit Legoland more than Disneyland. What have I done wrong? Trying to maybe sneak in one day here - but having trouble swallowing that room price!

I happened to mention the words "Disneyland" "instead" and "Legoland" in the same conversation and low and behold she decided she wants to go to Disneyland for Easter!!!! So we are upgrading our hoppers for our trip next month to AP's and will go again at Easter. Then, since one can't have an AP and not use it, we will just have to go again next Sept/Oct. I mean, really, it only makes sense, right?
