Sooo DH found out there was a legoland and got very excited..... but would it even be enjoyable for adults? I know they have a lego area at downtown disney and I think that might satisfy his lego addiction..... Any thoughts or suggestions? I did find a link that offered a day pass for LL for $30.

I looked through the forums but I couldn't find anything pertaining to just adult questions :) :wizard:

There are Lego Stores there of course and a Lego replicas of cities, star wars, pirates etc. I thought this was very interesting and well done. They have a waterski show with people in Lego character costumes and the Gardens are still there from Cypress Gardens. There's a big Island in the Sky that raises and rotates slowly and gives you a great view of the park and surrounding area. Most of the rides are geared to pre-teens but adults can go on them. The roller coasters would be similar to Thunder Mountain as far as intensity goes. We took our grandkids and enjoyed it but I doubt we would have gone on our own but if you're a Lego fan then go for it.

I loved Legoland, spent the entire day there and thouroughly enjoyed it.I won't be buying an AP for Legoland but between the mini land, the coasters, rides and shows there was more than enough for adults to do.Now they also have a waterpark possibly giving you two days of stuff to do.

Anybody know of any discount coupons for legoland? Last yer they had buy adult get child free, but can seem to find anything this year...

Thank you for your suggestions... May see how DTD is and if that'll satisfy hubbys lego cravings and go from there....

OP, I think there would be plenty to do for adults. Besides Miniland, rides, and shows there is also Cypress Gardens. We had a really nice day. oh, and try Granny's Apple Fries. They were really yummy!

I thought I heard the Lego store in DTD closed when Legoland opened?

If your DH is excited over Legoland, why not just plan to go? It seems reasonable to me.

DH and I went to Legoland California a year ago, were there open to close, and still you had to drag us out. DH likes legos, I don't, but we didn't play with any or go into the stores. We spent the day looking at the amazing scultures/buildings, and riding rides. We also did this robot-programming activity that took longer than expected, but had we not done that, I would've gone on more rides. I want to go back so bad, but our trip is too full to visit the Florida one. However, if we didn't live an hour or two from the California one, I'd make it work.

ETA: we're childless and in our mid-late twenties

The Lego store was renovated last year or so and is still going strong in DTD.

I may be totally off base here, but I thought I had heard something about Legoland not allowing adults in without kids. Wasn't there a story in the news about an elderly man be denied admission because he showed up without kids? Might be worth just checking before you make the trek out there!

That was a smaller Legoland Discovery center in Canada that has that no adults without kids rule, not a Legoland park.Hundreds,if not thousands of adults without kids probably visit Legoland daily,I mean when I was there (without kids as well) there were hundreds of senior citizens visiting the parks along with parties of adults only.

I'd do more research on-line. I went last year with my 9 year old son. Both of us are Lego fanatics, me probably more so than him. There are some kid oriented rides, but at 9 he is approaching the end of the range of these.

Miniland is interesting for folks of any age, but I don't know that I'd want to go every year just to check it out.

I found Legoland FL to be oriented towards a much younger audience, so not sure how you'd enjoy it w/o kids.

Does anyone know how far Legoland is from say the CBR. We don't rent a car and were considering going. Last year we went outside the park to Universal via Mears Shuttle and it was horrible. Took us 2 hrs to get there because they had stopped to pick up so many people from so many other resorts.

Would it be better to take a taxi?

Thanks,

Lorie

When we went last week, it was about 45 minutes. When I had checked the taxi calculator online, it came out to about $90 from POFQ -- EACH WAY! Don't know if I did something wrong, but that seemed crazy.

We debated renting a car for one day, but actually ended up using the Legoland shuttle instead. It runs from the Premium Outlets on Vineland at 9:00 in the morning and returns after park closing. There's no other stops, just a direct trip. It's only $5 per person, round trip. $20 for our family of four! We took a taxi from our resort and that was a little under $20 each way. So for about $60 we got there and back with no troubles at all.

When pricing out a one-day car rental, parking, and gas, it seemed to be pretty close to the same price.

Thanks for clearing that up!

Were just there last week. It's definitely geared for very young kids. My boys are 11 and 13 and we only went because my 11-year-old is totally, over the top, completely obsessed with Legos. We laughed that this is like the Holy Land for him!

They weren't impressed with the rides at all. Did like the water park. It's more about the spectacle of everything built with Legos and they had fun. But if he weren't a Lego maniac they would have been bored. One big, big, big plus was absolutely no lines. Literally walked up and onto every single ride without waiting!

My husband and I have annual passes to Legoland... it was a great deal at $100 pp and includes parking! It's a cute park.. not worth going monthly (like Disney) but those apple fries are GREAT! It's a nice way to spend the afternoon.. the shows are cute n corny and miniland is done very nicely.

We just love watching the kiddos doing their driving school :-)

We also learned that the same company that owns Legoland (Merlin) is opening a SeaLife aquarium and Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in Orlando next year (or 2015) and the passes will include those places too (DH is very into aquariums too)
