We are considering stopping at LEGOLAND on our way to Port Canaveral in July. DS7 and DS5 love Legos, but I have read mixed reviews about the park. Is it a one day or two day park? Is it worth getting the water park admission? I'd really appreciate any comments and pointers! :beach:

If your kids like Legos, it is a GREAT experience. Definitely worth going for a day. For us it was a one day park, but my ds doesn't do thrill rides and we went during a very slow time/day. (Super bowl Sunday!)

The only negatives I found were that it seems very expensive-and I'm used to Disney prices so that's saying something. I felt everything from admission to food was inflated. The park is also pretty spread out and has big areas that aren't shaded. In July that might be stifling and slow things down a bit.

We haven't been to the water park so I can't address that part of things.

Your kids are the perfect age for Legoland!

It's a full day and you won't do everything, especially if you take it easy. If you want to do the waterpark, I would go for 2 days. Legoland isn't open as long as the Disney parks. For example, it was open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. when we were there recently.

Legoland is actually pretty reasonable if you take advantage of the BOGO tickets and other deals. For example, you can return for a second day for $15 a person.

Prices on food items for kids I thought were reasonable. Milk is a $1.30, for example. It's not a park where dining is a a big deal. I suggest just eating lunch a light lunch there and dinner elsewhere.

Legoland isn't as fancy as Magic Kingdom, but my kids love it. Have fun!

One other point-to save money, get your hands on Lego Magazine. You can get coupons in those for a free child's admission when you buy an adult admission. Great savings!

We went last year and my kids LOVED it!!! So much so, they are asking to go back this year. (3 weeks) We only went one day and rode everything multiple times. We purchased the photo flash drive and had a blast with it. We started getting very creative and silly posing for the pics on each ride. We made the lady working the photo booth laugh many times. The one when we all pretended to be sleeping really made her day. Lol Wait times in line we so short we rode our favorites as much as 8 times!!! The food was good and reasonably priced. We got there at opening and stayed until an hour before they closed. We also used the buy one adult, get a free child admission deal. It was a nice break from the hectic crowds and lines at Disney.

Also, one of my DDs is not a thrill ride lover. But she did ride every attraction there as they are not too over the top, yet really fun.

We did not do the water park. Have fun!

We went in Sept '12 when my DS was 9 and DD 7. Our children loved it. My son is 10.5 now and wants to return there more than to WDW. He's a LEGO fan.

On our LL park day, We arrived at 11am to allow my son to sleep in (was having some asthma issues). We stayed until park close at 5pm. I recommend getting there at park opening (usually 10am). Do the coasters first thing or last thing as those lines were long when we arrived an hour after park opening but empty at the end of the day. We spent 40 minutes in line for the dragon coaster....time estimate sign said 15 min. Everything else was walk on the day we visited.

We went to the water park portion for about 3 hrs so we didn't have time to do the entire ride portion of the park. The water park was the highlight for DD as she's not as into LEGOs as big brother. She only wants to return to LL if we do the water park. DH and DS will do the park this year, skipping water park section, in order to do most of the rest of the park this time. DD and I will tour MK and do the princess things there while the boys do LL.

Your children are the perfect age to enjoy the park. The water park is on the smaller scale....which we really liked for our children's first visit to a water park....plenty of fun for a 5 and 7 y.o......and you will probably appreciate the water break in July. If you do the water park, you won't have time to tour the entire LL ride section, but you will have time to hit a lot of things.

We did not do any of the shows the day we visited.

There are coupons in Lego magazines, etc. as PP mentioned. Can often find buy adult, get child free coupons. Check their schedule as they close a couple days a week during certain times of the yr.

Have a great trip! :goodvibes

Last august we visit Legoland with our 2 boys (6 and 8) and we past one day, we ride all the attractions and more than one time et past 2 hours at the waterpark. It's a beautiful park, but the attractions are not big as Disney or Universal. We love our journey but we will not return there (my boys ask to go again). The staff look a bit not organise and professional as the others parks.

I took my two boys (then 2.5 and 7.5) last year at spring break, plus their 17yo cousin. We all LOVED this park. We didn't quite finish seeing the main park in one day and water park was not open yet. We did watch the ski show (great fun) and two 3D movies (just okay for me, but boys loved them) plus one more show. Even my 7.5 year old had fun in the kiddy ride area, as it had some different rides, plus there are several coaster type rides that aren't too wild.

FYI - instead of pin trading (like at WDW), here they do mini-figure trading. Needless to say, we had to buy some mini-figures to trade. Wish I had known that in advance - so heads up!

Legoland is the opposite direction from Orlando airport then Cape Canaveral. Legoland is about an hour west towards Tampa, so getting to a cruise ship from Legoland would be about 2 plus hours with no traffic. Unless you are flying into Tampa then it's 30 minutes off the highway on way to cruise ships.

We went last week and with 10 year old, he loves the place, but we as adults didn't have much to do. He loved going and building with Lego's in the different areas, but kids can do that at home. Rides are short and lines can get long. Food was not very good and the food lines were very unorganized took us almost 30 min to get a scoop of ice cream.

Find a coupon for kids get in free and it's worth it to make your kids happy.

Legoland in California is much much better.

We love LEGOLAND. But then we are a LEGO-fanatic family. It's great for 5 & 7. Our oldest is now 11, and we've done LLCA at least 3 times and and LLFL on our last trip to DW.

Definitely doable in a day, tho like any theme park, you'll leave feeling you didn't get to quite everything. Adding a 2nd day would let you pick up everything you missed, and have tons of time to spare. So I'd suggest just the 1 day.

Water park admission? Depends if you want to go to a water park or not. If you do, then of course it's worth it. We don't tend to go for water parks when on vacation cuz we have so many near our home.

Mixed reviews -- there are negative reviews on the rides cuz they are not thrill rides like you'll find at a Six Flags. Nothing more intense than a BTMRR. The rides are designed for the kids in your age ranges, and a teenager would be bored. Driving School is awesome. Best driving-type ride at any theme park anywhere -- the Disney's included! Your 7-year old actually gets to drive his own LEGO car around a makeshift city streets region.

Bring LEGO minifigures. Ones that you don't want. When you run into an employee, they will all have minifigures on their name tag and you can trade w them. This was one of the things our kids had the most fun doing!
