Hi there,
We are flying the redeye from Portland a day early for our cruise with a 3 and 5 yo who are really into Legos right now. I was thinking of driving to Legoland for the day, come back and hang out at Disney Springs or go to the Chip and Dale campfire singalong in the evening. We're staying in Kissimmee. Then we'll head out the next morning to Port Canaveral. Do you think it's doable? I'm hoping that the kids will have adequate sleep on the plane and we can take a nap in the car if needed. Thoughts?
This is our first time in FL, and our first cruise. We've done Disneyland before, but way before kids! TIA!!

It's a fairly long drive from the airport to legoland. I mean under an hour but it feels longer (most of it is on a road with many lights)!

Park size wise could it be done in a day? Sure. Would I do it? Nope. The thought of driving there and back after a red eye sounds like no fun at all!!

And I certainly wouldn't plan on legoland and Disney springs on the same day. what about just hitting the Lego store at DS (frankly I think my son enjoys that almost as much as legoland).

Thank you. We'd have to consider not doing it now. Do you think the Lego store would entertain my 5 yo for a long time? I guess I should google the lego store at DS. Ours is dinky here at our local mall.

We went to Legoland the day our cruise ended and it was further and took longer to get there than we thought. We didn't get to do much and felt it was a waste of time for a short period of time…a whole day is really needed...

Disney Springs might be a better choice. Our boys loved the lego store and wanted more time there than we wanted to spend. The fill the container is fun and would give them something new to play with back at the hotel. They also loved the world of disney and if they don't have it, the fill the box potato head is soooo worth it. Get an ADR and do dinner or lunch at TRex Cafe, play in the fountains....assume they made the cut with the upgrades. Really a ton to do. I would call it an early evening, head back to the hotel and swim or play with the legos or potato head and go to sleep early.

I would not. Your kids will likely be tired. I would give them a chance to catch up on sleep before the cruise. Legoland does take us the full day. I agree that Disney Springs would be a better idea. You could do Disney Springs and the hotel pool and have time to relax.

Something that isn't Legos, but also right in your kids' age range might be the Crayola Experience. Much smaller that Legoland, cheaper than Legoland, and ultra cool. You could also take a morning nap after your flight (which I would need:)), head over in the afternoon and still enjoy all of it (rain or shine).

Thank you all for your helpful advice. I was really trying to squeeze in all the fun in the short time we have. Sounds like there will be more to do at Disney Springs for them. Will look into the Crayola Experience! I know DD may like that more. She's very into coloring right now. T-Rex cafe sounds good too.
We're staying at Quality Suites. I hope they'll let us check in early for our morning nap. Otherwise, it'd have to be in the parking lot! :)

Crayola Experience is offering an annual pass special for 4 for $120...if you think you might be back in under 12 months, it's a perfect deal for you. You can also buy single day tickets for $19 online...

It's about a 3-4 hour activity for a day...but it's also at the Florida Mall, so you can have a yummy meal and swap with your spouse to enjoy some fun shopping while one adult watches the kids.
