After spending 5 days at the Disneyland Resort, we were planning on heading south to San Diego. Is Legoland worth stopping at? Will it be a disappointment after Disneyland? Will it be fun for an 8 yearold? Would it be better to head straight to San Diego and find things to do there?

An 8 year old who likes legos should be thrilled with Legoland.

Doesn't have the E-ticket type attractions, but it is fun for that age. It is a nice diversion and a pleasant change from the pace of Disneyland.

I however was pretty bored after 4 hours,

We were at DL four days, Seaworld and then LL last and my five and eight year old loved it. I, of course, didn't think it was that great. We were also with another family that had a seven year old and it was his second time and he loves it.

I was disappointed with the maintenance of the park. A lot of the hands-in attractions were not working and paint was chipping and peeling. I couldn't help thinking that we paid the same per day price as the other parks but they couldn't seem to keep up with the maintenance like the other two.

But to answer your question, yes, they'll love it probably.

I have annual passes to Legoland - my 3.5 yr old ds loves it. For kids under 10 (esp kids who love legos) it is fun. For little guys 3-5 there is quite a bit to do and an extensive play area. You can't compare it to DL - it pales in comparison. But the novelty of it is interesting and an 8 year old boy would love it!
:)

We have gone twice, and both times my children loved it. You can't go expecting it to compare to Disney, because it actually pales in comparison. However, the food was great, and when we were there the park was immaculate. I would look around for discounted tickets as their gate prices are pretty steep.
Have fun!!

I think after being at Disney, Legoland was definitely a disappointment! It definitely is NOT worth the admission they charge! However, all 4 of us (me, dh, 6yo ds, 2 yo ds) absolutely loved Sea World, and wished we had spent 2 days there instead.
