Lego Store DTD

Rather than buy the three Lego people for $10, Lego has a new product out called Mystery Legos. They have 16 different "people" ranging from a nurse, to a cowboy, to a zombie, etc. You don't know what you are going to to get, but they only cost $1.99 per pack. The only problem is that the go quickly, but I would call the store and ask when they are getting a new shipment. My kids have loved starting their collection!

Oh that is a neat idea too!! :)

Also - for those who have filled cups before - if you bring your old cup there you get a discount on the price by reusing it. At least that is how it went at one time - hopefully it is the same now. We have a lego store about an hour away from us and have been to the ones at Disney and Mall of America. Do you think we ever remember to actually BRING one of our old cups?

If they happen to have them on the wall that day then yes. The selection changes though. Sometimes you can get the tires but they won't have the axles. We've picked up many tires from there though. The boys (including dh!) love to build vehicles.

When you fill you box, get all your big pieces first and then fill in all the space with smaller pieces you want so you get as much as you can for the money.

You can also buy separate pieces online but they are a lot more expensive that way.

Well, shucks - I sure hope they have everything necessary when we are there! What's the point of getting tires if you can't get axles?? :confused3

Thanks for the information! Gee, I'm wondering how much we'll fill up and if it might be cheaper shipping it back than flying! ;)

Hey, I came across that in a Mastermind store out here!

Unfortunately they are $2.99 CAN for us. Sigh...

My son was thrilled with the scuba driver he received though!

The first series is already sold out and won't be shipping again.

The second series comes out in the fall.

I will keep an eye out for the new series. But how do you know if it's one that you already have? I wouldn't want to get duplicates kwim?

OP I'm not sure if you can wait, but there is a Lego store at a mall about an hour from me. I go there every Wednesday to pick the kids up (my mom is watching them 3 days a week over the summer to help us save on daycare and to spend some time with the boys). We ventured into the Lego store today for the 1st time.

I don't mind going there next week and taking pictures of the fill up tubs. The prices were 13.99 and 7.99. The prices were about the same as stores like TRU. They did have some stuff I've never seen in stores, as it was new.

Are you flying or driving to WDW? Will you have a rental car? If you have a car while there my suggestion would be to find a Walmart, Target or TRU is the area and have him get the blue tub of Legos. It's about $20-$25 and has a small green flat plate, a door, windows. No people, but you can buy a small set for about $3.99 (even at the Lego store) with a person and a small car or something. At DTD you can have him pick out a small set while with DH.

Here are some of the 3.99 sets

I think they are more than worth the money as they are easy for my guys to put together themselves (ages 5 and 6).

I was able to find the 'people' in the minipacks for $1.99 at Five below and I think for $2.49 at TRU.

I also joined the VIP club today, which is free to join and you get points on how much you spend, either online, or in the store.

*************Does anyone know if you can use Disney GC in the DTD Lego store? We have a ton of GC and I would love to get the kids a decent set!*****************

We just got back from WDW yesterday. My girls all did the pick a brick at the lego store again. Small container was 7.99 each and the larger one was 15.99 each. For some reason they didn't have many of the larger containers available.

I was sure that I read that the Lego store was closing.
Does anyone know when that is supposed to happen?

Legoland's building a new park in Florida - in Polk County, which looks to be less than an hour from Orlando. There may be some rumors floating around because of that, however in CA DL's DTD has a Lego store and Legoland's less than an hour away.

I went to Legoland, home of all things lego, the week after those minifigs were introduced and they were already gone.

The boys are so excited! All this info is great! We would LOVE more pictures. Gets dh all excited..lol. It would be nice to see the size of the actual tubs that you can fill. I know approx the size, but to see them would be great.
We did go to TRU last weekend here in town. Of course, walked out with 2 little lego packs like you posted. The 3.99 ones. Here they are 4.99 though.

Seems like DS is more into building his own things. From mental image to prototype. It amazes us what he can invision and build. Generally it has wheels..or a pretend engine. He's cute.

I told him he can fill up a small tub to give to his best friend at school (he will be in school by the time we go of course) and that got him even more excited. :woohoo:

Thanks for everyone's help. My boys are SO excited!!! Us girls are excited to do the MLP fill up box. By the time we are done with the MLP stuff, ds and dh will still be undecided with what they are going to get at the lego store. It takes the FOREVER and they are going to want to look at EVERYTHING. :upsidedow

3 out of the 6 we bought were duplicates. The lady at the store picked them.

The Boscovs near us had tons of these "Mystery" collectible minifigs as well. All of them have the same LARGE UPC code on the left-hand side of the packaging. However, if you squint enough you can see that the smaller UPC code on the right hand side is different per each variety of minifig. Needless to say, I had the time, so I literally went through each minifig package and compared the small UPC codes on the backs to the other packages. I had them all spread out on a shelf. (Business was slow that day, so they didn't seem to care!) It took about 40 minutes, but by comparing each package to the others, I was able to find 16 different barcodes. Bought all 16 and when I got home, I carefully snipped then re-taped the packages just to confirm my finds. It took some time, but I found them all! :woohoo: Good luck!

I'd like to know for sure if the lego store in DTD takes the Disney Rewards Visa. If so, I will save my rewards for this store specifically.

My 'boys' (including theBIG one!!!) are excited to go to DTD to get Legos. I think the plan will be we go to DTD and while I'm shopping at the big store they will go to Lego store to play and spend money!

I'm glad you were able to get him started with a few small sets. I think they are worth the money, esp considering the store sells 3 men for $9.99! You get a lot more for the money with the little sets.

I have my camera in my purse so I will take picts Wed night!

My boys, who are 5 and 6 love to make things on their own. We buy the sets, but they usually like to build things of their own making once they drop them or destroy the orginal set.

They are not a cheap toy, but they last. My DH has some of his own sets from childhood at his parents that the boys play with when they go over there. So while they are not cheap, they are more than worth the money!

Sounds like our house! DH is SO into all this. He had tons when he was a kid, but his father has since gotten rid of them (BOO!) Generally if there are toys in the house that don't get played with, or grown out of, I sell them on Kijiji and go buy them a newer toy. But with Lego, as I told dh, I will be keeping our collection for our grandchildren. I think it's important, and they are expensive! I see my kids with my parents and the toys they have are 'special' even though there isn't anything special at all about them. lol So I want to keep our legos.

Yard sales are an awesome place..I can't say it enough. I think I've spent maybe $15 total this summer on lego, and I have a big tote and a box of a castle set.

Our son too likes to build the original thing, then go crazy with all the variations he can come up with. :)

Pictures would be awesome! DS is asking how big the fillable cups are and I don't know.

We just got a little princess set off of ebay, in the mail today for our dd. (4.5). She is so excited to have her own little set. princess:

DO they sell the Belville sets in DTD? She loves playing the games on the lego.com website.

As promised here are the pictures of the Fill a tub

I put my iphone with them to give a point of size. The one employee said, they are similar to the 'pasta salad' containers at the grocery store.

The bottoms are indented (like a lego) which I think makes them fit less. But just like the MPH you can really rework stuff to fit more

At the LEgo store in NJ, they DO have the 'girl' sets, so I would think the one in DTD would have them too (esp since the store in DTD is bigger!)
