LEGO custom minifig experience

I’m curious if anyone has done the custom minifig experience lately. I am headed to WDW without my family and thought it might be fun to bring home custom minifigs of my kiddos! I’ve read a few places that it’s not super custom - somewhat standard heads/hair/legs with custom shirt. Does that sound about right?

Also, I wondered if I could do 3 in one time slot.

TIA!!

Been about a year since we did this, but I'm guessing it's still reasonably similar. We booked all 4 of us (me, DH & our 2 kids) at one timeslot, it does give you guidance on that when you're making a reservation.
And yes your understanding of how it works is spot on - the only thing you "design" is the shirt (front and back - can use text, graphics, free drawing, etc). Then you get to choose your head, pants, accessories, etc from a bunch of large bins. This part was more frustrating than I expected bc it's just big bins of loose pieces which you just have to dig through and hope you find something you like.
Overall we enjoyed the experience but it's definitely good to be aware of its limitations.

Where do I go to get reservations for these? Sounds like something fun to do on our next family trip. This is the first I've heard of these.
Thanks for your help!

We were disappointed with the experience in 2021, haven't been back. The selection of accessories was very limited- we have a lego store in a mall near us and their "create a minifig" has great accessories so we thought the large lego store at Disney Springs would have the same amount of accessories if not more. We wound up with accessories that didn't fit our personalities.

I’m sorry to hear that! We have a smallish LEGO experience store near our town that has a minifig builder. I wasn’t super impressed with the selection - it did keep my kids busy for a while because they had to really think about which one to get. They dug and dug through the bins to try and find something that excited them!

I was hoping there would be some unique choices at the DS store. But it sounds like that’s not really the case…

I agree with the above commenter. We did it a year or so ago - my college-aged DS and I - just for fun and something to do on a rainy day. We thought the selection was rather laughable. A child might have fun sorting through all the (mostly the same) pieces, but in reality, the choices were rather poor. The only interesting thing about it was creating your own design on a shirt if you so chose, and even that was a bit underwhelming.
