Hi Guys

Just wondering, what do I do when I return to the UK? If you are married in the USA is this legally recognised in the UK?

Hmm, suppose this thought should have entered my head a little sooner than this!

I am not a lawyer, but I think it is legal. I would call the place you get marriage licenses and ask them (to be sure) If you are having a Disney FTW, then maybe your coordinater can answer this. I mean Weddings on a ship by the captin are recognized...

As far as your religious preference, I would ask someone at your church.

OK, I realize I was no help, but I hope I gave you a hint or two...

You will be considered legally married in the UK, unless for some reason they don't recognize marriages performed outside of the country, but I highly doubt that. I would check into it though, but I am from Canada and I know that a Florida marriage license is regonized here.

When I received my documents this was the quote in the contract of terms and conditions I hope it helps

"All ceremonies are performed in accordance with British Law and legally recognised as binding. If you arent British, however, we recommend you contact your relevant Consulate or Embassy to establish the requirements of your marriage abroad."

All the best

OK as someone who is British and has recently got wed in WDW I can tell you that you are legally married.

However your marriage is registered in Florida and not in the UK and therefore there will be NO records of your marriage held at Somerset House but this does not mean that you are not considered legally married.

This would the same for any married couple who live in the UK but were married in a foreign country, so that's no big deal at all. As long as you have your marriage licence (and I suggest you plan to order copies of this at the time of purchase - we got 4) you will be fine.

Also Passport. DVLA, Banks etc will all accept your FL marriage certificate as significant proof that you are married same as they would a normal UK licence.

Thanks... friends in work just started questioning me and made me doubt myself... d'oh.

Not long now! :Pinkbounc
