What do you do with what is left in fridge etc?

We attempted to plan our food and drinks but as usual we had
good unopened food and drinks left.
What do you do with yours?
I am surprised that disney doesn't have some kind of food pantry donation option?
We had a 18 pack of soda,
12 pack of beer(ok so maybe not for food panrty)I did find a cm who was happy to help me get rid of it.
Unopened boxes of chips ,etc
juice boxes
It just seems a waste to throw it out.
I guess mouse keeping takes some??

I'd mention your extra unopened items to the Bell staff - they may be able to advise about a foodbank contribution for such things.

We asked the mousekeeping staff if they were interested in our unopened stuff and they were happy to take it off our hands.

I actually passes on all of my extra food to someone here on the boards. I saw they were coming in the same hotel on the day we were leaving and ahd kids about the same age so I PM'ed her and then left her bags of groceries at bell services. It felt great not to have to throw away perfectly good food.

I usually give it to Mousekeeping. We always have unopened cans of tonic and usually unopened bags of chips and stuff like that. Somehow ten days of Disney food leaves us too full for snacks! Mousekeeping is always very happy to take it. I hope they keep it for themselves and don't just throw it out.

We usually give unopened things to people we see just arriving or folks in the parking lot. I've never had any trouble finding anyone to take it, and all have been appreciative. I always tell them to "pay it forward" and do something for someone else during the trip. I always assume they will pass on food too. Last month I gave half a case of bottled water to someone we saw checking in, and they were happy to take it!

We left ours on the counter but didn't leave a note -- thanks for the tip to do that next time. I do hope that it doesn't just get thrown out and that either mousekeeping or other CMs that can use it will, or that it will be given to a food bank or some other sort of charity. I love the idea of having a drop-box for unopened, non-perishable food items for DVCers to donate their unused goods.

We've left Cokes, water, soups and a bunch of other stuff behind. Geez, I hate to think of the stuff we've left.

Maybe we should all start our own food bank - leave our unopened stuff, marked "For Mr./Mrs. Dis'er", at the desk, then the next Dis'er can ask for it at check-in. "You have something for Mr. Dis'er?" If you don't want it, just say your brother, Mr. Dis'er, will check in later. Just don't leave ice cream. Or tell them to freeze it. It'd be like the penny jars in stores - take a little, leave a little.

Well, non-perishables can be left in your owners locker too. I can see us using that for pancake mix and Oatmeal. Even sugar and other things like coffee and tea etc.

When we have extra pop, i have my husband put it by the soda machine. Figure someone wanting a pop will spot it, and help themselves.

I too wished there was a place to donate the extra food.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Can you imagine the front desk??? I got a good laugh out of this one and "Mr. Dis'er, my brother, will be checking in later."

GREAT idea, though. I think it would be great to see if Dis would partner with DVC members, allowing them to donate unopened food items to local food banks and also donating any points that are going to expire to "Make a Wish" foundation or some other wonderful cause. Just think...if every DVC member donated 10 points, how many families facing a crisis could we send to our favorite place? It would take Dis kicking in some spending money and park passes to truly make it worth while, though. :grouphug:

We often have extra water bottles left over. Last time we purchased 4 cases on check-in day, but we only consumed 3 cases during our two week trip. Of course... had I only purchased 3... then we would have needed 4 :)

I gave the extra case to a neighbor on check-out day.

My daughter was at a conference at the Beach Club last month and also at BCV one night. She said that every day she saw mousekeepers leaving for the day with large shopping bags full - usually two each - so I would think that some of the items are being put to good use. I wonder if they also "recycle" things like dish soap, toilet paper rather than throw out partially used items. There was no one in the parking lot or around when we left the first week in March so I left the unopened two pound bag of shrimp in the freezer and the cocktail sauce in the refrigerator along with a couple of bottles of powerade - sure hope someone found a use for it.

I will be checking out of AKV on May 9, anybody checking in? I would love to leave our extra stuff for someone.

Well, how about we start a program just like the vero beach chair thread? We got beach toys and chairs from others and then "added" more toys and such for the next group.

All we would have to do is start a thread to "sign up" when you would be at which place and then if a Dis'er is coming after you, leave your leftovers at the front in a box or bag with their name?

I will be checking into AKV on June20, checking out of SSR on June 25

Checking in to SSR on Nov 23, checking out Nov 28

next time just look for me , ill take the beer and chips:rotfl2:  :woohoo:

sure will ~ just leave your dates (you can have the wine, water, laundry deter, etc too!):)

we're going to be at BWVs:

We're checking out of BWV on Sept. 27. (We're leaving at 7 am.) Want our stuff?? I could leave it at the desk for "Mr. Dis'er." I'm sure the desk would loooove to handle it for you. :cutie:

My husband just added that there won't be any beer left.
