Arts and Crafts LED's for Mickey Ears - Where to find?

Hi Everyone!
We are doing our first trip close to Christmas and I wanted to make some super special ears for us all, but I was just wondering if I could incorporate Christmas lights into them at all? I've seen some super talented people put them in dresses, but I have no idea what type of lights go in them?
Our local store has the 10 bulb LED's but it has a bulky battery pack which I wouldn't be able to hide anywhere. My son recently received some slippers with mini lights in them, I wondered if you could buy something like that?

For my light up ears, I used the Moon lights brand LEDs from Joann. There are 12 lights on 20ft of wire with a small watch battery pack that fit well on a 1in headband
